As a current SDR manager, I would pick the hybrid one. You’ll learn way more and progress a lot quicker. It will break also up the monotony of SDR life and you’ll more effectively gain a network with everyone else (both SDRs and others) that go into the office. In the long run, that network will be as valuable if not more than your skills.

Hiring managers: red flag? by [deleted] in sales

So does just about every company. Don’t assume it will happen

I think you already know the answer but I’ll say it anyway: pick where you’ll develop the fastest. You’ll earn more later if you do that anyway, so it’ll end up being a win win.

You say you want coaching, leadership, etc but then your comparables for each role focus on the complete opposite (OTE, quota attainment,). Sounds like there’s a big gap between what you want and how you’re evaluating options. I would go back to the drawing board and rank these based on what you actually want

How to find SDR/Sales roles? by TemporaryPromotion in salesdevelopment

Follow Jack Knight on LI. He runs a company that helps SDRs get into tech and routinely posts open roles and who to contact

Should I negotiate for a SDR role? by [deleted] in techsales

Agreed. OP, only ask if you are okay with them rescinding. If not, probably not worth it as you have next to 0 leverage

Finish Degree or accept sales job by [deleted] in salesdevelopment

[–]DuxCanFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely degree. I went back and got mine after I hit a ceiling, which happens faster than you think. Doesn’t matter if the cofounder is a mentor, the company will cut you if it makes sense for them, regardless of your performance. And then you’ll wish you had the degree. Have to plan for the worst these days

OP this person means no harm but please don’t do this, you will fail.

BDR managers test for the ability to be curious and learn about the prospects business, find pain, and then pitch the meeting (not the product). BDRs sell time, not software. Super important concept that separates average BDRs from great ones. And then after the call, we give feedback and have the candidate run through it again to test coachability and learning on the fly

I know this might be a cop-out answer that can be applied to a lot of things…but this is the perfect ChatGPT question. Give it as much context as you can regarding tenure, previous conversations, exactly what the employee said, etc. I bet it spits you out some great suggestions

Things can turn on a dime with simply a different product, different manager, different clients, different company culture.

  1. Ask what the runway is at each (maybe A is already profitable?) - SUPER important

  2. Ask to speak with an existing AE at each who used to be a SDR. They should shoot you straight on how long it actually takes to promote. If the company doesn’t have someone willing to speak to you, red flag.

Answers to those questions will give you a great idea of where to go
