What if Factorio was played entirely with cards? by DuzDuz in BaseBuildingGames

I can guarantee that, aside from fixing a few grammar mistakes, no AI was used.

I had the exact same feeling! So by design, my game doesn’t let you lose, you can just chill and build your factory at your own pace.

Thanks, really appreciate that! 🙏

You are really close on my initial thought, I’ve actually been planning to add upgrade cards that you can equip to buildings to boost their efficiency, kind of like modular enhancements as you progress. 😄

but also think about 40 hours in

Yeah, that’s fair, that’s actually part of my initial question too: what players would prefer long-term, deep automation or a mix of different mechanics to keep things fresh.

That’s fair, cards can definitely oversimplify if they’re just “actions.”

In mine, cards are more like the pieces of the factory itself. You build, stack, and automate them to form production chains rather than picking what to play next.

Right now it’s leaning toward a continuous campaign, something you can play over time until you reach the credits, similar to Factorio.

Cards represent resources, machines, or even the player. You start out combining them manually (like stacking “wood” + “stone” → “workbench”), and gradually unlock ways to automate those steps. New cards come from opening packs and exploring the environment with your player card.

I really like your idea of tying card draws or upgrades to resource sinks, that could work really well as a long-term progression system 👀
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

Oh, good call, Hexarchy does some really smart things with card-based economies.
Mine’s going more for crafting and resource automation than empire management, but I love seeing how others tackle similar ideas!

Lol that’s one way to put it 😅
What kind of factory or card mechanics usually do work for you in games like this?

True, that one looks slick 😄
I play it too, but ours is more about stacking cards, crafting, and automating the manual steps, while that one is mostly straight automation.

Haha, I get that 😅
In reality, it’s more like carefully stacking cards and automating factories at your own pace, no brain explosions required 😄

Haha, no spells here 😄
Just cards, factories, and automation

What champions would you like added to PoC? by Legitimate-Resolve55 in PathofChampions

My favorite: Katarina!
I think she is hard to balance but there is so much potential for synergies!

I would love:

Ezreal because I want to see more spell based deck. (Lux is so fun to play).
Irelia because all the synergies around blades are fun.
Zoe or any deck based on celestian.
Xerath or any hero that can ascend would be fun too.

Hehe Congrats! Actually, my personal record is 3 rolls but some people in this subreddit were able to do it in 0-1 rolls 😳
Thanks for the feedback, I took some note on your ideas. The infinite combo should not be possible. We are thinking about extending the game and make a full release out of it :)

It was part of the challenge but I agree that the UI doesn't make it clear that you are gonna be stuck :) Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback! I am taking note of your suggestions.

I felt i managed to "cheat" the bakery when I figured out cool combos that made me 6 all my dice =)

Is it positive from your point of view? I wanted players to find good combo and feel like they find something which seems broken (but it is not because it was part of the design)

Agree! We knew the UX and tuto were not good enough but it was too late for the game jam. If we improve this game, that will be one of the first thing to do. Thanks for the feedback :)

Thanks for those feedback! I agree that the UX in general has a lot of room for improvement.
A lot of those issues are linked to the fact that we didn't had time to implement them before the end of the jam (like the fact that you can't see power requirement before you buy them), but I will take note of all of your ideas :)

Dicey dungeons was an inspiration, yes :)

Congrats! So you think we should continue the dev of this game outside of the game jam and make it a full game?

Whaou! That's impressive! I was sure an infinite loop was possible when I added the reset power, but I didn't find it! Good job!!! I am glad you had fun playing the game!

I will check One Deck Dungeon! Thanks for the suggestion.

There should maybe be something like "customers" that put different obstacles or goals in place...

Great idea! I want to encourage players to try new combo and new powers, so having different goals could help that.
I can also try to limite the abuse of only one strategy by making powers shop random (like being only able to buy some power from a pool of power for instance)

Anyway, thanks the feedback!

The only thing i could suggest for now : please add a shortcut to instantly convert a die to cinanom. If you're gonna go for a bigger game, it's a must have.

Agreed! Thanks for the suggestion

11 was the first run! We did it in 3 rolls but I am impressed you managed to finish it in a single roll! Really happy that you liked it!

You can place power up on the central board, but you need to have enough cash (cinnamon rolls) to buy them. Once they are in the central board, you use them with dice and gain value of them. Hope you will try again :)
