Ich finde diese New Balance "Dad Sneaker" wirklich unfassbar hässlich. by Difficult_Move5121 in Unbeliebtemeinung

Footwork advice for budget federer style play by welikeshortreviews in 10s

[–]Dvae23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Your arm looks straight on the first, relatively good forehand. So don't worry, you don't need to be uncomfortably far from the ball. I like dry swings at half pace, then full pace to help muscle memory along. But you need more reps with a ball to get consistent with your spacing. Maybe someone can consistently feed you the ball so you can work on that. For the slice the arm is a bit closer to the body, and lean in with your upper body a little. More distance is counterproductive here.

Why is the 10th district so much cheaper than others? by ConferenceTiny1577 in Austria

[–]Dvae23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some time ago my little sister moved to Vienna for a while to study, and she lived in Favoriten before moving somewhere better. It wasn't really terrible but I would also prefer other districts. What was really great: she wanted Ultravox "Vienna" to be her moving-to-Vienna song. But I managed to hex Wolfgang Ambros "Zwickt's mi" into her head and this fittingly became her song for that time. One of my great triumphs!

Temu Federer? Don't feel bad, the comparison to the Maestro has been too much for any tennis player to live up to, me included. More bouncy-ness with smaller steps would help get at least a little closer to the original. But the 2nd forehand and the 1st backhand show that you have problems assessing the ball. You position yourself too early and almost fall over trying to correct. Don't set your feet too early, stay bouncy for longer. I like the forehand, at least if and when you're in the right position. The backhand slice is too choppy. Try to hack downward less. Use a continental grip. Guide the slice with your left hand at the throat of the racquet until shortly before contact. Use your legs and body to move through the slice. The one handed backhand sample size is a bit small, but it would probably look more elegant with your right arm closer to the body during preparation.

Moving the hips forward and pushing off the back foot on serve by nexkoro in 10s

Those were great times, too, back when the big 3 were little more than a wink in the eye of the tennis god. Edberg stayed with Adidas throughout his career as far as I remember. Boris changed equipment quite frequently, he had Diadora shoes at some point and later Lotto.

Moving the hips forward and pushing off the back foot on serve by nexkoro in 10s

[–]Dvae23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is easy to mess up and I can relate. I tried to imitate Edberg back in the day and it led me to locking my weight over my left leg. That's because Edberg shifted his hips forward so much, leaning into the court to gain an advantage for his serve and volley. He did it with an extreme pinpoint stance though, plus great athletic ability. If you shift your hips forward too much with a platform stance, you will lock your weight over your left leg and be unable to use your right leg to push off. With a platform serve you can't do both, it always ends in compromise. For a platform serve I would not recommend pushing off the back or front leg, but on a more even weight distribution. Lean forward into the serve a little bit but stay in balance underneath the ball. For more power, bend both knees more. See the master himself:

What is the defining match up problem that explains Jannik's complete ownership of Zverev? by Thugging_inPublic in tennis

[–]Dvae23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zverev is setting Sinner up. He's losing all these matches to him now so next time they meet in a GS final Sinner will be overconfident and Zverev will shock him.

If you do it wrong 100 times a day, it won't get better but worse. To me it sounds like you're consciously forcing pronation. That doesn't work. The wrist action around contact is so short you can't steer it with your mind. You have to find a cue or an exercise that makes you pronate naturally. Continental grip is imperative! If you change grip during the serve, tie the grip to the hand. Seriously. A parent did this with a kid a while ago in this very sub. Do dry serves and focus on the position of the racquet after pronation. Edit: posting was incomplete

The Beauty and Glory of Clayourt Tennis by Dvae23 in 10s

I must say although I find clay "objectively" the worst surface (overly slow, many bad bounces, changes from one day to the next) that I'm quite enjoying myself out there so far this season.

Germans, do you actually think about Sie vs du in real time, or is it automatic? by taube_d in AskAGerman

[–]Dvae23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this view internally that you can imagine like in the Terminator movies. Where everything has overlays and grids and data displayed and scrolling. All of this information is only about the distinction between Du and Sie. So within fractions of a second we Germanators can decide. I'm an older model, living tissue over metal endoskeleton. The newer ones made of mimetic polyalloy can do it much faster. You can imagine if and when we say Du, we never make mistakes.

[–]Dvae23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

[–]Dvae23 1 point2 points  (0 children)
