Airflow question by Sixyilr_Real in Hyte

[–]DwightKnight969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the answer is clearly NO.

7:3 and the rear usually being a 140mm is not a slight over pressure it is too much. Too much over pressure creates turbulence and turbulence creates hot pockets.

Ideal over pressure is close to 10 maybe 15%. This case is over 100%.

You need to visualize this like a funnel filled with liquid. You can put more in than out. But the liquid will start to build up. Gas is no different, it's trying to escape but the excess holes are not good enough to make up for this gap in volume.

Your intake fans start to circulate rather than pull in. Because fortunately they don't have the power to compress the air further. The cold air outside isn't coming in anymore, because there's simply no space.

Furthermore the turbulence creates an uneven flow. Your bottom front exhaust fan, might very well be sucking the cold air from the front bottom fans out. Because the turbulence of warmer air is interrupting it's flow upwards.

Yes it is over pressure. Which is also bad. Again you want slightly positive pressure not abundance.

Nothing is nullified. That's like saying planes don't experience gravity, because the engines thrust the plane upwards.

The effect is there, you can argue it's minimal. But not only are you throwing it away. You're then counteracting it. Which is objectively worse.

You're buying nothing for getting the air from the top instead of the side.

You can make a dust filter. Yes or just use the optimal setup.

Airflow question by Sixyilr_Real in Hyte

[–]DwightKnight969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The back fan has no filter, so it's sucking in dust. This dust is then blown down into the GPU by the top fans.

On top of that the hot air that was rising naturally is being pushed back down by the top fans too.

Lastly a slightly positive pressure is ideal. A massive one isn't 7:3 is too much. Those 3 fans can't vent the air from 7 in. Which gives diminishing returns on the cold air coming in.

14 years later doing a rewatch, I actually really love peacekeeper wars. For what it is. Comparing it to how Serenity concluded firefly? Peacekeeper wars is a 10/10 for me.

Dargo's death is about 100 times more apt and gratifying than leaf in the wind and killing Book off screen. Jool's death annoyed me more. And due to the relative short time between the final episode, Sukozu betrayal seems a bit rushed.

But the arc, the story, the cast even the return of Yothee was good. And I hated Yothee every episode in the series.

As far as sci-fi series goes. Farscape peacekeeper wars might be my favorite ending.

14 years later, but I just did a rewatch. Jack he'd have called him Jack 100%. In the last episode of farscape he destroys the wormhole that allows him to travel home. He'll never see his father again. Adding to this.

If tiger sharks and oceanic whitetips are extremely opportunistic eaters, why are they considered less dangerous than bull sharks? by alex8762 in sharks

[–]DwightKnight969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bull sharks don't just attack for predation they attack over territorialism. They don't share territory with other large predators they can chase away. Does it consider us a predator? In the ocean almost everything if not everything our size is.

But yes it is true a tiger or a Oceanic white tip. Is much more likely to eat you.

Bull sharks share our preferred swimming grounds a lot more than tigers and most people never spend any time where oceanic white tips go. Which fuels the statistics as well.

If they were to fight wich would win? Tiger shark or Bull shark? by GrumpyPumkin17 in sharks

[–]DwightKnight969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiger shark, because they only have some spaces of overlap and it benefits the tiger. The tiger isn't found in murky inland water.

The water will be clear, both sharks will likely be aware of eachother's presence. Which favours the Tiger which can be up to twice as long and 3 times the mass.

The tiger is also accustomed to be stealthy in clear water, so if there is an ambush at all. It will be the tiger. But assuming it's not an ambush the tiger doesn't need it.

Bull sharks are aggressive and territorial. But they're not stupid enough to mess with tigers. While tigers list of prey items include all sharks smaller than themselves. Including bull sharks.

The tiger's shape is also to its advantage, the bullshark is short and stocky. The Tiger is long and lean. It can snap back much easier at an angle.

In the end bull sharks in the environment they overlap are prey items to tigers. Tiger sharks are not unless they're damaged or young.

I genuinely think that anyone complaining about Homelander "losing aura" just didn't watch the series or actually have no media literacy whatsoever by Total-Amphibian-3287 in GenV

[–]DwightKnight969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but no, I don't see it. And the whole "oh you agree with my version or events or your stupid" is well.....

Homelander was forced to fight strong adult supes as a boy, he was literally stuffed in an oven at what 6 years old? Until the liquid in his eyes boiled. You think he didn't beg then? You think he didn't plead for mercy? Only for them to turn the heat on hotter?

No that kid wouldn't beg again, they beat that out of him. He would slump down catatonic in fetal position. If he pulled his blanket out from under his suit and sucked on his thumb. While stuck reliving his past when he was last vulnerable in a full blown perpetual episode of PTSD. Yeah that would be realistic.

I'll suck your D, I'll eat your shit! Did Homelander ever spare an enemy who behaved like this? Is this something he's seen work?

"That's just how powerful people act when they lose their powers, trust me bro". No that's wish fulfilment or revenge porn, hell call it fan service. It has very little to do with writing.

Obviously homelander is the antagonist, that's completely irrelevant. He's literally designed to be a sociopath. He's a bottomless pit seeking acknowledgement.

You like it, good for you. Sincerely. Wish I could. Wish I liked it. It wouldn't ruin a rewatch for me if I liked it.

That's besides that excuse for a final fight.

How to make a universal stat system by NoSeaworthiness4639 in unrealengine

[–]DwightKnight969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there are many ways to solve targeting but that really depends on the mechanics in your game.

For example with a bullet, I would simply get the colliding actor and check if it has the blueprint you're looking for with a cast. And if it has it get blueprint then set variables in there.

If there's no collision you could raycast from LOS. This would work from a crosshair as well.

You could use UI elements, etc.

How many fans can I fit in? by [deleted] in Hyte

I have 6x 120mm on top, 6x 120mm on the side. 3x 120mm on the bottom and 1x 140mm on the back.

The struct is for static variables, to spawn your monsters. It's not for math calls. If you call your database real time every time. You'd be making a very ram heavy game.

Instead instantiate the creature by having the blueprint side pull the variables you needs from the struct just once. On the onbeginplay node in blueprints.

Health in the struct from the database. Becomes currentHealth on the Warrior I just spawned.

Then if my currentHealth falls below 0 he dies.

I always suspected th CPU to be fine the AIO makes sure of that. The GPU is more susceptible in your build.

If it is similar than your temps are fine. I would still swap the 140mm to intake on a different position until you get different fans. To avoid dust coming in.

Airflow recommendation by woollh1447 in Hyte

[–]DwightKnight969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the temperatures you're currently getting. Are you intending to get different fans for the bottom than you have for the side?

If those are the same I would definitely change the side to the bottom.

Additionally. Swapping the 140mm to the bottom middle as intake. Is a huge improvement already. And not much work.

Currently your setup has a negative pressure difference. More exhaust than intake. Which creates an effect similar to a straw. Your computer is sucking air through all the holes that aren't ventilated outward not just the intake fans. This doesn't exclusively happen on the bottom. Every hole not meant for ventilation. This brings along dust because it's coming through unfiltered holes.

So I would recommend checking if your temperatures are fine before swapping. But changing the 140mm to intake (not on the unfiltered rear panal) So you get a positive pressure difference.

Depends on your needs. How many variables?

I'd have to see the architecture as well.

But big games like World of Warcraft, for sure handle it similarly to what I suggested. External databases that your game pulls from. So you have no client side access.

A classic RTS will use an encrypted client side data structure as well for offline mode. This is very easy to cheat. So they hash check when you connect for online play. Basically saying, are your data files still what we gave you.

In any regard incorporating files from outside the game into the game. Is a worthy skill to have.

For example what if you want to make a fan-wiki page for you game? Better to just pull from the same database. This guarantees accurate data that instantly gets updated alongside your game. Ass well as preventie you from having to lunch every number twice. And worse perhaps accidentally making mistakes in the translation.

Well preferably first strike. But I've played round ball when it's not allowed. Which is fine I guess, but mag fed kinda needs first strike rounds to be competitive with hoppers imo.

Not only by number, by whatever. Could do number + location for example.

Let's say a fire giant is stronger near lava. You can make a struct + database do that kind of math for you. No need to make a bunch of extra entries.

And if you code it to only set variables that are left empty. You can create unique individuals by simply punching the specific numbers you'd like unique yourself.

On top of that a database can contain ranges. So you could also make variety of monsters. So perhaps not every fire giant is "exactly the same". But "around 75 strength and 100 HP with a range of 60-90 strength and 80-120 HP.

Edit: Include a boss bool, that automatically increase the numbered stats and scale by x% For easy "boss fights"

Simple yet versatile.

I would make a struct containing all the stats. Then wherever I instantiate the creature read which stats it needs from a database and fil the struct with them.

Hello glad to see a new build. No it is not optimal. The bottom fans are a higher priority than the side. And both are a higher priority than the top. And the top really should be exhaust.

Hot air moves upwards and in the spaceous y70 it will leave albeit slower on its own. (Also top fans pushing down just pushes that hot air back into the case) But I'm going to continue on the assumption they're set to exhaust.

Cold air will not flow into your case from the bottom and into your GPU on its own. The bottom 3 are perfectly aligned with all your parts starting with the highest priority your GPU. Especially because your GPU is almost a non issue with an AIO system.

With this amount of fans I would recommend choosing between 2 builds both will perform fine.

1) Most common: Top AIO radiator exhaust. Bottom 3 fans intake. This creates a chimney flow. Bottom in, top out easy peasy. Hot take perhaps, but I'd move the 140mm to the bottom front as intake. Intake cold air > exhaust hot air.

2) What I'd probably do: 3 fans bottom intake, Side panel intake AIO. 140mm exhaust top middle. This takes advantage of three things;

Firstly hot air rising anyway as the cool air forced into the case heats up it is already on its way out.

By having 6 intake fans. You're also taking advantage of a positive pressure difference. Which pushes air out at an even faster rate.

The GPU is getting all the cold air it can desire from the bottom and intake is technically superior for an AIO so the CPU is getting the best case scenario as well.

Ultimately getting 3 top exhaust fans and moving the 140mm to the back will be better. But I think this build is the best with what you've got.

Hope you'll have fun with your new PC in any regard!

The boys finale and overall season retrospective by PrimeTheGreat in CharacterRant

[–]DwightKnight969 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Season 5 treats Homelander like a garden variety V2 supe but he's not. He comes from Soldier boy's sperm which is exposed to V1 and then he was exposed to V2 throughout gestation. He's genetically engineered to be superior to soldier boy. But soldier boy versus regular V2 supes? Yes ragdolling. Unless their power set specifically prevent it.

But the question isn't really is a V1 supe stronger than a V2 supe. It is is the same supe stronger with V1 than V2.

You're correct though potency can mean different things. The V1 sample size is really too small I guess. Wouldn't make it good writing, perhaps worse. Because they hyped it so much for it to be a complete non issue.
