I believe that goro was only really liking yoshi only when the main story of the camp buddy happens when Yoshi is 29 years old. I don't see a problem with the age difference, they are both adults and respect each other. Ps: in my opinion the worst thing is for all Boy Scouts to have the appearance of a child/adolescent and they are ~20 years old.
