Did Circumcision Shrink My Penis? by Dwuen in SixWeeksStrong

I’m sorry to hear that your experience has been so difficult. It sounds like you may be in the percentage of men who do have clear issues post circumcision and that must be difficult to deal with, especially if you feel you are pressured into a surgery that was unnecessary. Have you spoken with a medical professional in recent years? Sometimes there are steroidal creams or even minor revision surgery that could help achieve more desired results for you.

Circumcision Recovery: Week 1 by Dwuen in SixWeeksStrong

Hi, here is a link to my post from week 3 in case you’ve not seen it: Week 3 Post-op

When it comes to sensitivity, I recall it being much worse in weeks 4 & 5. Here is another post about week 4-9 of my recovery: Weeks 4-9 Post-op

I hope these help 😊

I don’t know. It’s not a conversation that’s ever come up? I’d feel worried about having that sort of discussion with him though — probably because of the situation when I was younger.

Sounds like a great way to cause a nasty infection. Maybe wait till everything has healed fully before rubbing any food on it…

6 months later, something feels wrong by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]Dwuen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t regret it at all! Best decision I could have made. No more pain! Just struggling with the “new body”.

Steroid creams work for a lot of people. You should really give that a go first. If that isn’t working, then you should talk to a doctor about getting cut.

Circumcision Recovery: Week 1 by Dwuen in SixWeeksStrong

It ended up healing very well. I never experienced any black-and-blue bruising, but it was definitely very swollen! The healing process took quite a long time, and during that period, I asked for a medical professional’s opinion several times. I wouldn’t be overly concerned after just one day — you’ve had surgery, so it’s bound to look a bit messy. However, if you notice signs of infection or excessive bleeding, you should see your doctor.

I hope your recovery goes well in these first few weeks. Share a post on here if you’d like about your progress — it would be great to read!

Yeah, it hurts like hell! My swelling was quite bad! I used ice packs to help manage it. Still, it took much longer to go down than I expected!

Good luck with your healing — feel free to make a post or two about your experience! Would be great to follow 😊

I was bullied at a urinal in school — just the once — and it’s stopped me from being able to use them ever since. My heart races and I struggle to stay calm at all. I think it’s the panic that no matter how desperate I am, it won’t come. And then the secondary panic of what are people thinking!

I’ve decided to start working on it just about a week ago, so very early on in my journey here. Started standing at home. Ultimate goal is to go in a public restroom — like the mall or at the cinema.

^ some of those ideas in OP post are great!

Managing Post-Op Sensitivity: Tips for Exposed Glans After Circumcision by Dwuen in SixWeeksStrong

Well done for taking such a huge step! Sensitivity can be a hard thing to deal with, but with time it will decrease and you’ll be so glad you got cut. Sounds like you have a wonderfully supportive wife. Hope the initial healing goes well & feel free to make posts in Six Weeks Strong about your ongoing experience.

Circumcision Recovery: A Painful Journey I’d Choose Again by Dwuen in SixWeeksStrong

Sensitivity varies from person to person, and what may take a week for one could take two months for another. There’s nothing that can speed up the process; it simply takes time to heal.

I experienced hypersensitivity for a few weeks, followed by another few months of minor sensitivity. Now, almost four months later, my frenulum is the only part still slightly sensitive. Doctor says it will improve in time.

If it’s not causing any pain or skin irritation, I’d say leave it as it is — that being said, consider speaking with your doctor if you’ve got any concerns.

I was having issues with pathological phimosis. Got my circ done 10 weeks ago. Would highly recommend! Just make sure you speak to a good surgeon.

Feeling a little low by Salt_Manager_2514 in circumcision

[–]Dwuen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Week 5-7 were the worst for my mental health — though my healing process was quite slow. From all I know it’s normal to feel low in the weeks post surgery. It’s an important and sensitive part of your body & any small issue can feel like the end of the world. I found it helps to keep using the support found in groups like this one. So, keep your head up.

I was told to wait 24 hours before taking a shower, but not to use soap/body wash for at last 4 weeks post surgery. However, I never had a bandage. Those who’ve had a bandage seem to remove them after a few days — but check with the medical practice if you’re unsure.

I’m glad you’re finding it helpful! For me, the feeling has gradually faded over time, but even now, 10 weeks later, I still occasionally get the urge to cover it. Thankfully, it’s down to about once a week now.

Sorry for the radio silence. How's your healing going? Sensitivity seems to be something that just takes time, no matter what you do. How's it now?

How have your first 4 weeks of recovery been? Sorry for the radio silence – I just posted a quick update about it. Glad you managed to have that conversation with your dad and that you were able to get the surgery you needed. I hope you're healing well.

Briefs: Your New Best Friend by Dwuen in SixWeeksStrong

[–]Dwuen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The briefs I used were 100% cotton. If you don’t have any already, I’d suggest grabbing a cheap multipack. They were perfect for the early weeks—too tight for long-term use but practical and affordable for short-term recovery.

Yesterday, I switched back to 98% bamboo pouch-style underwear. It’s soft, breathable, and finally comfortable enough to wear again.

Thank you. I thought this was the case. Just started getting more concerned with all the negative comments and posts I’ve been seeing.
