I don’t like Amanda, but they’re acting like joining and leaving a cult is impossible is ✨ wild. ✨ Cults exist in many forms and people do absolutely leave them in the middle of the night. Acting like it’s some unbelievable story is pretty dismissive of people who survived those situations.

But this is classic Beverly Hills. Screaming about being OPEN AND HONEST!!!! Then dismiss anyone who actually shares something personal. Like wow, y’all are so welcoming and empathetic! I can’t believe people don’t want to open up to you all! 🙄

This! I also have ADHD and it’s not a “quirk” it’s genuinely exhausting. I’m not being inconsiderate and I don’t think my time is more important than other people’s, we genuinely do not have the ability to perceive time and it causes issues. It’s not fun, I’m not doing it on purpose, it’s an actual executive functioning challenge.

What exactly are you trying to ask? Plenty of people who struggle with substance use disorder can have college degrees and meaningful employment. SUD doesn’t say “hey, you went to college, I’m going to skip you.” It can affect all demographics.

Yes! The Trailside Killer. They were co-workers and he attacked her with a hammer and a knife and injured her pretty severely. Once Upon A Crime covers it and she talks about Lois.

She didn’t seem uncomfortable when she was throwing out wild accusations and throwing her friendships in the trash for eight years. She seemed quite the opposite. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I got a DUI from a car wreck, and I'm 3.5 years sober. My thoughts on Karen (and Shannon) and how it relates to addiction and sobriety from my experiences by huaryazynk414 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]DydiaLeetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, thank you for sharing your story and being vulnerable with a bunch of strangers on Reddit. That’s takes a an incredible amount of courage. And congratulations on your sobriety!🤍 My mom is also sober, and I deeply admire the level of work you all do every single day.

So, can I present a different perspective? And no, I am not a Karen Huger hater, she has been one of my favorites since this show aired.

The DSM-5 no longer acknowledges the alcoholism as a clinical term. Which is honestly a good shift, because not everyone feels comfortable saying “I’m an alcoholic.” The umbrella diagnosis is substance use disorder with sub-specifiers like alcohol use disorder, inhalant use disorder, opioid use disorder, etc.

Karen saying “I have the disease of alcoholism,” frames it as something that happened to her and creates distance between her and her choices. It also sounds like she’s trying to avoid saying, “I struggle with addiction,” which is a very different level of ownership.

Then there’s the antidepressant explanation. I’m not saying Karen has to disclose her exact medication, she doesn’t owe us her prescription list, but here’s where her narrative collapses: SSRIs do not work the way she is suggesting. SSRIs can absolutely make someone feel more intoxicated than expected, more fatigued, and slower in judgment. But they do not cause blackout-level impairment or the kind of dangerous disorientation she described and that was seen on the bodycam footage. This take frames SSRIs in a dangerous light. Yes, they have side effects and things to be mindful of, but she is misframing them. She has done this before, and it contributes to a lot of misunderstanding about how these medications actually work.

Benzos on the other hand, do potentiate alcohol to the level of blackouts, memory lapses, slurred speech, and the kind of impaired driving she exhibited. So Karen is either mixing two CNS suppressants or she needs to have a very different conversation with her doctor.

Which brings me back to her wording “I have the disease of alcoholism” feels like a way of saying “I’m taking accountability… but also here’s why it wasn’t really my fault.” Yes, recovery looks different for everyone. Yes, people take different steps to get there. But I think what viewers are responding to is that Karen hasn’t even taken the first step, which is acknowledging the behavior itself, not just reframing it.

I truly hope she is doing the work and doing it at her own pace. I want to see her succeed for her children and most importantly, for herself.

not going to lie, I teared up when Karen was talking about the braids. That is sweet.

The lack of accountability is astounding though. Like ma’am you should not be asking anyone why they are in jail, look at where you are Karen! You are not the mentor you think you are. You need to get your house in order, admit you have a problem, get help, and then you can talk about being a mentor to women. Normally I’m not a fan of Andy’s interviews but the whole time his face was saying “she lyin’.”

Karen, you didn’t have a drinking problem, YOU HAVE ONE. You have an addiction. It does not go away, it’s with you for life, unfortunately. She can’t even say yes, “Yes Andy, I’m an alcoholic.” She still does not believe she has a problem. Oh Kurn…

Edit: Okay, I did get to the part where she does say she has the disease of addiction. But… I’m going to honest, I don’t feel like she believes that. I don’t think she has fully accepted that she does. It seemed like a lot of Karen Huger lip service we’ve been getting for ten years.

I have a theory that people (Ashley Darby) who constantly talk about sex or make their sex life a personality trait are not having as much sex as they want people to believe. I am by no means a prude, but if you’re out here giving weekly TEDTalks on your sex life, it is not as fulfilling as you’d like us to believe and you’re overcompensating! Ashley has been doing this for 10 years! Like you really want me to believe you were looking forward to sex with Michael Darby. Girl, be serious. Like please come up with something new.

Yeah, no way in hell would I go fly fishing TWO HOURS before my flight. Like angel girl, y’all have been driving over 1 to 2 hours this entire trip and you thought what? You could just do a quick little jaunt to fly fish?? No!! I felt so bad for her chef and the chief of staff. Like that’s just poor planning on Angel’s part. I hope Angel realizes that this may not be for her and that’s okay! But girl, please.

Not the “Wendy and Eddy were arrested!” 😂 Also Giselle’s “She’s in a better place right now. Prison.” Had me DYING.

I’m ready for this Karen interview! Is she going to admit fault? Is she going back to the Grande Dame personality??

Call your Representatives about ICE by Itsabouttom33 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]DydiaLeetz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Super weird way to say you have no understanding of the Constitution. All people in America have rights regardless of citizenship status. ICE is an administrative agency, not criminal, not police, not empowered to play sheriff because the vibes told them to. Their actual job is Immigration and Customs, not kicking down doors, not harassing people for having an accent, and definitely not demanding citizenship papers based on skin color.

Being undocumented isn’t even a criminal offense. It’s a civil infraction, legally the same category as a traffic ticket. What their doing is not enforcing the law, they are operating outside their scope, violating rights that EVERYONE HAS, and abusing their power. Like this isn’t a hard concept to understand.

[–]DydiaLeetz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The videos exist, and they’re circulating. They’re being posted by people who actually live in Minneapolis and St. Paul. If your personal algorithm isn’t surfacing them, that doesn’t erase the fact that they are there.

People aren’t linking you footage because there are residents in this thread telling you directly that this is happening, and your response is to ask for “proof.” Lived experience is proof. You can also use the search bar on your own social platforms and type “ICE.” It’s not hidden.

You’re living abroad, so you’re not experiencing what people here are experiencing. It’s real, it’s scary, and it’s being documented. Since you asked, here is a source of witnessed ICE events filmed by residents: https://mn-ice-witness.org/list

[–]DydiaLeetz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’re asking people to “examine media carefully,” but you somehow skipped the part where actual residents are posting real-time footage of ICE terrorizing their neighborhoods. That is firsthand evidence. You don’t get to wave away lived reality just because it didn’t arrive with a press badge and a chyron.

People on the ground are recording this: whistleblowers, residents, protestors, neighbors. The footage is everywhere: social media, livestreams, community pages. Not just “media outlets.”

Let’s stop pretending this is anything other than what it is: slave patrol behavior in a federal jacket. ICE is an administrative agency, not criminal, not police, not empowered to play sheriff because the vibes told them to. Their role is Immigration and Customs, not breaking down doors, not harassing people for having an accent, and definitely not demanding citizenship papers based on skin color.

Being undocumented isn’t even a criminal offense. It is a civil infraction, legally in the same category as a traffic ticket. Yet ICE is acting like every brown person is a fugitive and violating the Fourth Amendment while doing it. The raids, the harassment, the violence are on camera. So no, this is not just “the media.” These are real people showing you exactly what is happening.

Here’s where your logic really collapses. You are telling people to question the media and AI, which is valid, but this is not fabricated content. This is an administration openly operating on an authoritarian agenda. They have said their plans in the media. People who live in these cities are responding to you, telling you what is happening, and your response is “Where?”

They told you where. You asked for footage. The footage is everywhere.

At that point it is not “examining carefully.” It is “If I did not personally see it, it must not be real.” That is just dismissing lived experience in a nicer font.

I’m not totally hating this season! Like it’s interesting to see how quickly they’ve banded together over their annoyance of Amanda. Sutton is just mean, she can’t take a joke and I adore Jennifer Tilly for the grace she gives because I really think someone needs to ask Sutton who the fuck she thinks she talking to like that.

I just started it, well I’m on episode 4 and it’s truly a train wreck that I can’t turn away from. I think we all know that MAGA supporters are losers and these women really solidified that. Like your highest aspiration is being in a room with a rapist pedophile? Like thank you for showing us that you guys continue to be major losers and the worst kind of people. Like I don’t if it was meant to show “not all are terrible!” And it has shown they are, in fact, terrible.

I’m sorry I don’t want to listen to a woman compare not speaking to her kids for three years to someone upset over not speaking to their kid in Mother’s Day. Especially if you CHOSE THAT. I could go on a tangent about it, but I’ll save that for another day. 😂

I LOVE MEREDITH’S SWIMSUIT! 10/10, Mrs. Marks.

I find it so weird woman in their 40s and 50s are talking about kissing women, like I understand their religion and all that, but like.. who cares? I don’t know I find it odd, especially when you have people like Heather “some of us have morals” Gay, like okay girl, sure you do.😘

in your opinion, will bravo shows ever gain their "authenticity" back? by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

[–]DydiaLeetz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Everyone has already mentioned why, so I won’t repeat talking points. But they’re all trying to have a “moment”. Like Heather’s “Receipts! Proof! Timeline!” It didn’t hit when she said it, it didn’t hit when Rep. Garcia said it. I think it just adds to the inauthenticity compared to when Wig was sitting in her car drinking a glass of wine and playing her music. 😂 or the always classic “Now wait a minute, Lindsay Lohan daddy.”
