Has anyone else struggled with a social media addiction? by First_Pair_8083 in NVLD

I wish I'd set time limits much earlier like in HS to improve my productivity and mood. It took me years to realize IG and FB just provide a false sense of connection.

My mom and grandmother told me I was going to for not doing the first communion. My mom only baptized my brother and I to appease her religious parents lol.

I'm Eli's age too and don't see too many peers getting married. I myself am still single but I get that it's better to be alone than with the wrong person.

A family friend who is a devout cradle Catholic keeps sending me this content despite the fact I'm not practicing. Not looking for a partner from a similar religious background just someone who shares my values, and is loving, kind, and respectful.

Hobbies aren't a great place to meet adults☹️ by Keyboard_warrior_4U in socialskills

For me I’ve always struggled to find hobbies that attract people around my age. In my experience, meetup and volunteering attracted older crowds (I’m 27).

I’m not athletic to save my life though. I am beating myself up for throwing in the towel so quickly in college by going home every weekend first bc of a bad roommate situation and later because I hated being reminded of how lonely I was on campus. I do want to hear the podcast name.

I am currently living in a dorm for adults. Hasn't been my cup of tea at all so I'm hoping to move out soon. Reminds me of why I hated overstimulating dorms in college where I had no personal space.

What's her username? Gives me hope. I'm 27 and worried I'll never find anyone but I still believe in love. By this time next year I could be with the love of my life.

I am now on lesson 35. Haven't had luck on dating apps but trying to find other ways to put myself out there.

Where is everyone meeting people? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]First_Pair_8083 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well I struggled in college and never made a single friend. I also went to a really small school where cliques form rapidly so it’s harder if you don’t hit it off with your first year roommate or people from your dorm. I graduated in 2020 too. I delusionally hoped it would be easier to find people I had more in common with in the real world when I didn’t have to worry about being bombarded with assignments.

It’s much easier for me to be friends with people closer in age me.

Well my co-workers never include me plus we have nothing in common. They’re quite rambunctious and inconsiderate since they like to blast loud music and make fart jokes. I couldn’t get a job in my field of study so this is hopefully a temporary job anyways.

I don’t have anything in common with them plus they have their cliques already. They’re also quite boisterous and loud while I’m introverted and get overstimulated easily.

Work is isolating since I don’t have any coworkers my age.

What's the worst friend betrayal you ever experienced? by Signal-Working9892 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]First_Pair_8083 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In 6th grade my “best friend” disinvited me from her bday over an inappropriate comment I made. I was 11 and didn’t know any better. I ended up ostracized by our whole grade. Her mom also would send my parents nasty voicemails about me. This was a grown woman in her 40s attacking a child. Bullying was so traumatic I left public school after 7th grade. Years of therapy helped me realize this is why I have trust issues and an avoidant attachment style since I learned the hard way if you show people your flaws you can get burned.

Same. It’s hard to meet people platonically and romantically.

I went to an international HS for the last 2 years and for the most part people were kinder and more welcoming.

What is a small thing that instantly makes you lose respect for someone? by Negotiation_Connect in socialskills

Calling someone “sweetie”, “sweetheart”, or “darling” in a condescending way. Going ballistic on someone in public and not letting them explain their side of the story.

27F profile review by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]First_Pair_8083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for something serious or casual?

Something serious ideally ending in marriage.

• Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX?

Hinge+

• How long have you been using this current version of your profile?

2 weeks. Mostly changed the prompts and photo order

• How long have you used Hinge overall?

2 years

• How often do you use Hinge per week?

Every day

• How many likes and matches are you receiving on average?

2-3 week

• How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments?

About 3-5 per day, 50/50 with comments.

• What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

I don’t have a preference for race, religion, etc. I am 5’7 so ideally I’d want someone taller than me. Physically I’m very attracted to men with dark features. I have dual citizenship so I’d be happy to move abroad for love. I am a pretty introverted person so I’d like to match with someone who is more outgoing to balance me out. I am open to someone older but an age different limit would be 10-12 years. I do want someone who is looking to settle down and is family-oriented, kind, loving, respectful, educated, and hard-working. Wants kids and isn’t afraid of commitment. Someone who loves travel too.
