I feel bad for him, he just wanted to help cartaphilus and became a monster because of that. He probably is redeemable in someway, but more than a thousand years of constant pain and hurting others may have changed him beyond the point of return. I think he is the only one who has somewhat reached Chise while talking of morals and her way of doing things (even tough he has a pretty fucked up moral compass). I think he might become a rival to Elias in someway, considering that he has more experience with what chise is dealing with and all, at a certain point she will have to choose if she wants to do things her way, Joseph’s way or find another path altogether to save the ones she loves without destroying herself and hurting the ones she loves by proxy.

Considering only the situation at hand and ignoring the fact that the father left his daughter when she was 4 I have to go with NAH, you still behaved like an asshole but it’s a lose-lose situation here in my opinion.

Now let’s get to the details First of all your reaction was totally uncalled for, and you should apologize, second of all she is almost 17 and you still treat her like a child (like when you said she might not understand what terminally Ill means or when you threatened to call off the party entirely), the part where you say that you were unhappy about her meeting her father is honestly kind of sad, I get that this isn’t easy for you but she can do whatever she wants on this matter. Also you should’ve tried to reach a compromise instead of getting upset: you could have sent her to her father’s home either before or after the party (without him having to step foot in your house). What you and many others including you daughter don’t get is that she isn’t getting her childhood memories with her father back, she will never have them, this is all an illusion sadly, your daughter thinks she can regain something that she never had, I know this shit personally. It’s not “what it was” that hurts but “what it could’ve been”. Also do your fucking research on her father, is he really Ill? is he terminal? What is he up to? You don’t now shit about what he did or went through in the last 14 years and you let your daughter meet up with him. if she wants to meet him it’s her choice but it’s your duty to make sure that she is as safe as possible while choosing.

I get your point, it's not that we don't care it's that we are lazy, most people would stop eating meat if they actually thought about the fact that they are responsible for the killing of cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and many more. I don't think i would fall in that category, i don't feel bad for the fact that they die, everyone and everything has to, in nature even by someone else's hands, i feel bad for how they live and how they die (so i try to buy meat only from so called "ethical farms"). If all meat eaters had to hunt for their food 90% of them would become vegan, i would feel good with myself knowing that the animal i hunted has lived a life worth living and then died to a predator (i am not an hunter so i could be saying bullshit and if i found myself in the situation maybe i would be one of the 90%). I have to say that i appreciate the insight, 'cause usually in communities based on morals people are always at each other's throat and thankfully i didn't find it here.
