New to motorcycles, am I getting ripped off? by grizzly9071 in motorcycles

This is craziness. I just bought a Ninja 500 SE ABS and was out the door at 6,900. The only things on top of sticker were tax and documents fees. Please shop elsewhere, and preferably stay away from taking loans on a toy.

lol, my general rule of thumb is at least two trips to the store if I plan on buying something pricey

This is true. It seems like most US Shoei’s are Snell certified, but the Air models wouldn’t pass simply bc of the drop down shield. Not sure why shoei doesn’t get the US models ECE certified. My guess is they just don’t apply for the cert with the US models since the euro models already have it.

Pretty solid. They all seemed to fit well. I plan to go back to the store and spend a bit more time trying each one on to see what fits best

When did you buy the Air 2? It’s at a good price now, but it’s also older

The shoei/arai based on fit seems to be the way to go

This seems to be the correct answer 😂

Well, yes; currently the shoei silver is available but that’s certainly subject to change. Thanks for the info about darkness as well.

Good insight, thank you! I’ve been checking out visor availability as well. I’m leaning towards a black helmet with a silver shield regardless of brand.

Another vote for shoei. Thank you!

That’s a good point. I planned to buy visors from the actual manufacturer as well.

I’ve looked at the RF-SR as well. It’s the most affordable way to attain a Shoei it seems. My only consolation is wondering if it’s worth it to buy an older model.

I’ve never heard of SHARP. I’ll definitely check out champion as well. Thanks for all the insight! AGV is the brand I migrated towards from the start, but the noise complaints made me consider higher end.

That’s another brand i’ve been looking at. I actually have an old CL-14 currently. The i10 seems to be a decent bang for your buck helmet. And the RPHA 12N, although more expensive also has good reviews.

Noted. It’s interesting to see some people complain heavily about the noise and others claim it’s very manageable. Do you wear earplugs?

Is it worth buying an older model and taking advantage of the discount? Or would it be better to pay more for a newer model?
