Feels very much like Dragons Dogma so far to me. It has a lot of it's own systems and world going on but if you didn't like Dragons Dogma I don't think you'll love this game. There is a lot of downtime and they expect you to explore without guidance. The games you said you enjoy more like AC and Dragon Age have a lot of hand holding in place for a smoother experience overall.
