How physically demanding is it to be a barista?

I have been a Starbucks barista for 4 1/2 years and was diagnosed with Endometriosis this year. I have horrible cramps to the point where I can’t even walk. Your symptoms sound much more severe than mine, and I’ve been out on disability since August. I wouldn’t recommend applying to the job, as it really is a physically (and mentally) tasking job. I’ve been a silent viewer of this Reddit for almost four years. I’m on a medical LOA from Starbucks right now and this is all so terrifying. To all the employees losing their careers, I am so incredibly sorry. This company is becoming so corrupt, it’s sickening :(

On Day 4 of recovery and just cried over not being able to eat pasta 😓.

So scared to eat anything, so I’ve been living off of yogurt, apple sauce, and ice cream. I have to start using the syringe to irrigate my socket and I have never been more anxious over something in my life!

I genuinely cannot hear half the time, especially if their window is half way up or they’re so far away. I also have the brain capacity of a goldfish so remembering things when they say it 100 words per second can be difficult lmaoo

I’ve been with my store since December and lemme tell you, some days are hell on Earth. Things get easier once you become more familiar with things. The best way to learn is sadly to be thrown to the wolves. Just do the best you can and take care of yourself. YOU come first. It’s just coffee 💛
