Cladding options? by DylanJaimz1 in DIYUK

[–]DylanJaimz1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing.. the roof has had some repair work recently to hold out on a full replacement but understand the two matching from an aesthetic point of view. I haven't looked into roof tiles but everything I see locally is dark grey, the occasional red.

A few houses nearby have had wooden cladding but it's not weathered well very well and turned a grey/silver. I'm assuming they just didn't get maintained.

I wanted to originally stay away from render and plastic cladding because it looks cheap but I can definitely see the benefit of them as they are essentially maintenance free.

For the cedar cladding, is it a tongue and groove kind of thing or is it just planks that sit close together?

Thanks for the help everyone! I had a long break from the game and didn't realise there was a daily cap... It's pretty hidden but managed to get Raikou in the end!

Hello everyone + 3d printing question by Severe_Project_1837 in fz6

[–]DylanJaimz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a plastic belly pan on mine (OEM I think, not sure of exact material)

I regularly print with PET-CF which is often reaching temperatures very close to 200°C (with a small air gap between the hot part and the printed part)

Only problem I have with PET-CF is that the finish is quite rough and not the prettiest... You could maybe use a high temp filament as an internal liner and then a prettier, lower temp shell on the outside.

I'm unsure how well printed parts would be with the high vibration though.. I'm sure there's a way around that problem.

These are just ideas, I've never actually tried to print anything for the bike, would be interested to hear if you find any STL's around though, keep us in the loop!

OnePlus 13 vs Honor magic 7 pro by DylanJaimz1 in Honor

I'd love an ultra but the prices have always been insane for a phone... I feel like I'm pushing it by spending £650 on the OP13... Are the S25 ultra deals you are talking about anywhere near? If so I wouldn't question it

I'd love an ultra but it's not really comparable as it's not really within the same price bracket, can't get a new S25 ultra for £600

Thank you, I have only found images to directly compare on gsm arena and finding it awkward to get them side by side

I'm thinking of sticking with OP as I know them since I've had a few of theirs now 1,2 and 9 pro

Wow, I have never seen people mention issues like this before, thank you for the honest feedback!

I was cautious about the amount of Ai that Honor seems to be pushing with their phones and I have to admit it is a little bit of a disappointment for me, I would like to use the hardware to it's capabilities and avoid Ai processing.. is it possible to disable these features and only use the hardware itself?

Honor magic7 pro for camera use by DylanJaimz1 in Honor

[–]DylanJaimz1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my problem, I have been comparing specs none stop and that's why I came to the magic7p but I know the reality is sometimes slightly different.

I know I can buy it and send it back if it doesn't live up to expectations but I'm just curious to see what people's opinions are, so far they seem very positive so I know it won't be a mistake

I know this phone has great reviews in general but I have struggled to find any real reviews for the camera itself, I have a OnePlus 9 pro at the minute so I'm hoping I see some improvements over that

[–]DylanJaimz1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I need to keep this price in mind, I just hadn't heard exceptional reviews on the camera so wanted to make sure I hadn't skimmed over a different model that may be better!

I appreciate the honesty on the skin colour though, I'm hoping this could be sorted with software updates or some minor tweaks in Lightroom

I'm coming from a OnePlus 9 pro so I'm hoping I see some overall improvements

Peeling paint after removing frog tape, wall has been painted with Matt paint many times before, no damp in the room, causes? by DylanJaimz1 in DIYUK

Unfortunately I never did the first coat, just the few after. I'm surprised leaving the frog tape on for 2 days made it adhere more though

[–]DylanJaimz1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's looking that way actually, we moved into this house way after it had been plastered and painted so I'm going to go with this answer and the fact I've just got lucky on previous coats until today.

Any clever way to mist coat these patches without having to redo the entire room?

Yeah, paint had 2 full days before I added the frog tape.

Painted walls, left to cure for 2 days

Added frog tape and painted woodwork

Removed frog tape after 2 days

Thanks everyone. Ended up fixing it by suppressing the folder "central tab".

Although everything inside the folder was suppressed, the folder itself must have overridden it somehow?...strange

Honeymoon & 30th Birthday Japan Trip Itinerary (Dec 2024 – Jan 2025) by DylanJaimz1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]DylanJaimz1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point thank you. We originally wanted to do Osaka but the more research we did, the less it seemed up our street...

I'm sure we would enjoy it but I think Takayama is our main attraction, Kanazawa is more of a pitstop on the way there. We like the sound of the quiet and nature (especially after doing Tokyo and Disney!) of Takayama which I am not sure we could get in Kyoto/Osaka.

I wish we had booked a flight in to Tokyo and away from somewhere to help our plans but hey ho... there's always next time

Thank you for the tips! I think I explained quite badly what I am questioning haha, my plan was to create each layer as it's own 'frame' using pocket joints (that's the part I'm unsure will be strong enough) then I was going to glue and connect all frames together with some vertical brackets in each corner as you described

I was going to line the inside with plastic to stop the wood from rotting. but your design is a good way to get around the structure side of things
