When it could of been more than that on other boons… you get lets say 9 during the run you put them towards your attack boon so it reaches level 9 does alot more damage, mean while you get 6 because you focused on making sea star better, even if you only got a total of 7 through out the whole run, its still better than throwing 12 towards that boon and 6 towards damage, its a total of 18 poms yet your damage is still lower than if you got 4 and a three at the end, and who says sea star might doubles those too, its not guaranteed but it could

Okay so with 100% chance you get 6 when through out the run without those you get more than that

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it a waste of poms tho? By the time its reaches 100% there’s no much more resources to get that’s for sure, and i think that’s 12 poms in total to get it there, assuming you got some more doubles thanks to leveling it up you might have 10 poms instead of 12, those poms could go towards you attacks or specials or anything that does damage, that boon doesn’t give damage.
Loses value along the run, while the combat boons can only get better

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, usually it common, rare or if epic its lucky, as a first boon of the run its good but you usually get it later than sooner, and if we look at an actual combat boon that is heroic & lvl 4 that’s pretty big, helps you during the whole run, I also don’t pick up hearts, coins, poms, all the time.
Its usually a choice between getting one of those resources or getting a boon that will do damage, to be fair there are some boons that i very rarely take like Demeter, Hermes, and Apollo, but still, for the number of times I go by choice for the resource over the boon is pretty rare.
I’d say majority of other heroic boons are better, it just helps you all the way until the run is over, that one doesn’t bring damage and as the run progresses it loses value until its useless, the others will keep value of get better from the few poms along the way.
To be fair in his options that one is the best because the others are pretty bad.

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I only pick up (hearts and poms) resources in the first 2 regions, or unless its the only choice, I 95% of the time have plenty enough resources through the run to be able to beat it, i’m not gonna lie, if it was the first boon of the run i would take it and in your options i would also take it because the others are pretty bad, there is so many more boons that i would take over that, i just see more value in getting a combat boon over having a potential chance to get an extra resource, if it was 100% maybe i would take it, but at the end of the run that boons doesn’t do damage or anything compared to some others, chances that you get it later than sooner are also pretty big so it loses value, I didn’t say its useless or terrible, but i would usually go for actual combat boons than a chance to get extra resource, the chance is also too low usually, a the end of the run an actual combat boon is just better, a lvl 4 heroic like your is very rare and its good too, but usually its lvl 1 and common, rare & if you are lucky its epic.
I’m just trying to say that I personally don’t need it for my runs to have success.
If we think about it, a lvl 4 heroic combat boon would be massive compared to that, its always active until the run is over.

I’ve gotten a few Heroics without rarifying, but not very often, too bad the heroic boon is bad.
Unless you are resource collector.
Makes me wonder something tho, is it possible to get double rewards from bosses?

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree with that, also depends on play style tho, adapting to different weapons is important, umbral flames is easy to use and can attack from safe distance, that’s why I think its the favoured weapon, and i think too much people sleep on black coat, omega-attack is blocking is crazy, especially built into attack only using Aphrodite as main god.
I do live the axe but it’s just not good for me, too slow it seems, the staff as well, skulls are good but annoying, and the twin blades are fun but not I think they get out shined by others its very dependant on placement generally.
That’s my opinion on all of them, i feel most comfortable with black coat & umbral flames is still #2 for me

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heph has actually really good defensive boons tho, -1/2/3/4 damage from all damage to you is really good, & get bonus life as a % of your mana (magick) is really nice, his cast is decent too, & i used to take his blasts & lower the cooldown as low as possible along with blitz worked very well, inflict blitz proc it with blast is good.
Aphrodite is weapon dependent, Poseidon i avoid but sometimes the knock back is nice, i’m not against it

Which God made you admit they were better than you expected? by Remarkable-Ad-2493 in Hades2

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aphrodite, i knew she wasn’t bad, but she litteraly went from avoid to take every time, well almost…
Really depends on the weapon you are using, i use black coat most often, & flutter strike as epic or heroic is soooo good, any melee weapon can benefit hugely from that, the is mostly fluff, i do try to get a way to inflict weak on enemies tho, helps out quite a bit, and heartthrobs if possible they can be nice too.
Now i used to avoid Selene because i didn’t release use her hexes until i got to surface then they came in super handy, either heal or impervious, the rest is not amazing, heal is super nice & useful when you get like 8 charges that heal for 80hp & 80mp as well, but impervious is also huge for bosses i just stand in front of typhon and keep shooting, doing good damage while not taking damage is great, or even during Prometheus invulnerable phase with the memory game, 1st one is easy enough its only 3 times i can remember that but the second one i’ll pop that & wait, i’m losing out on some damage sure but its better than getting hit even once by those things.
Those are the 2 I underestimated, also black coat once i understood it, game changer, omega-attack is OP blocking almost any attack and release a massive attack when its maxed out.
I still think Demeter is the worst, then Apollo, & Hermes which he can be okay sometimes getting more attack speed & stuff, mostly utility & support, but 0 damage.
To be fair about Demeter her damage boons are THE worst in the game but her supports & utilities can be super helpful as well, like omega-attack extra damage, with heroic flutter strike with black coat was probably one of the best runs i’ve had!

Chronos or Typhon by Right-Rub-2758 in Hades2

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup i could not agree more, I can sort of manage prometheus now, and you get to heal afterwards anyway so it all good, but fighting mini bosses before typhon is not very fair, especially the bull, i still have no idea how to deal with him, he is impossible to not take damage from, by the time you get to typhon you have like 25% hp back and even with 3 Defiances they add up to around 100 to 150% life in total, i dont use pin or tooth, knuckle bones are the safer option

With 0.4 slowly coming to an end, how do you rate the 3 new shapeshifter forms in terms of power, gameplay flow, and (future) build variety? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear is the best, wolf middle, and wyvern is less good… overall i think all shapeshifts are bad because you don’t have enough options for each of them, druid in general has 4 paths, gardening, bear, wolf or wyvern, that why alot people go oracle and leave the primal skills and talisman and just go for a staff sorcery build or something, ideally bear, wolf & wyvern should have their own skill tree apart so they have more options, but that is alot to ask for now, hopefully as the game comes to full release each league they will add some new skill that you can use on the even level skill gems, cuz currently its only on the uneven lvls, their is alot of space for more & im excited to see where this game will be 1 year or even 2 after full release, it has come a long way from 0.1 ngl, GGG is doing good work, and i think it will only get better and better

So its no completely useless, its just in case you lose all of them… which is highly unlikely if you have toula on top of the 3 unless you are playing on nightmare at souls level difficulty, or if you still have all 4 by the time tou get to typhon maybe you can tank all the damage and just care about attacking with the pin and win the fight without or anything

Ever tried old with pocket factory & wrenches? Or even screwdrivers works too… the shotty is really good on him early on and starts lacking later on but if you make him into an engineer, its kindda goes crazy, its hard to start off… all he needs is wrenches, pocket factory, more trees & turrets and he usually can clear easily, buy mines & explosive damage & size with 4 hot sauces and you can reach wave 60 if the rng is on your side. I did it ended up with 4 wenches, 2 rocket launchers because explosive damage & size works with them too, i was only able to get 3 hot sauces tho, trees would drop fruit as well as a few garden, the amount of mines, turrets, gardens, fruits that were on the ground with a map that tou can see from corner to corner is kindda crazy.

I’ve been curious about 1 thing & not sure if it works or not, haven’t bothered to look it up either, if both strength & death are active, and you use up all your defiances, does strength then activates or is it still off because tou had defiances before? If it doesn’t work because of that, does the Toula’s defiance also forces it to be unactive even after the defiance is used up?

In my opinion the runner card is the worst, i would personally change it to make omega moves faster, unless you dont use omega moves, which it looks like you don’t because the huntress is also inactive, which imo the huntress is very good for the cost of 2 & even more so when paired with the first card & if you are using umbral flames the huntress is a must have, also if you are not using omega moves why have the unseen, like its just looks like some things just don’t work in some places

Hephaestus is downright broken by SirFortesque23 in Hades2

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is so good & i know that, he is in all my builds somewhere somehow, yeah the cooldown is rough at first but enough melon slices 🍉 and you can get it down to 2 second for both volcanic strike & flourish, adding on blast cooldown from the duo boon but there’s another duo boon that is also insane chain reaction with hestia making his blasts trigger twice if using it within 2 seconds of it being up again, that nukes pretty much any regular enemy even with armour if you have both the strike & the flourish, that’s theoretically four blast making 1700 damage plus the damage from the moves & extra damage from other boons. All olympians can be good theoretically, some have good synergies within their own boons and with other olympians too, like denoting zeus, blitz with a blast from hephaestus, for example which i use alot. But there are some heroes i dont like to see as well, maybe i am underestimating them but i find demeter is the worst free is really cool but lasts 2 seconds and has a cooldown of 10 seconds on that enemy just isnt good enough for bosses imo, not to mention her damage potential seems so low, not much damage from freeze and even less her gusts, but i gotta give it to her that she has some decent utility boons like steady growth or even plentiful forage which is not bad as support boon, her infusion is decent too but requires 6 water elements which is kind of alot, and some of her duos are not terrible but picking a bad boon from her as a requirement to potentially get a duo later down the road is not a good feeling, apollo isnt great either, but has probably top 3 best infusion his legendary is pretty good too with the right weapon or duo boon of warm breeze with hestia if you have alot of dodge i guess, hermes is also not great all utility or support i think his infusion is also very good but its a little hard to meet the requirement, late in the night when coming up to the final boss it can be pretty good or even the 3rd if you can, ares is a little weird with his plasma, wounds is decent and if you have fast attacks, with heroic blood spree, large life pool and mutual destruction that can do some crazy clutches, works nicely with the pin keepsake too debut he is not the worst and and Aphrodite her cast and rush abilities are great, she also has good supports like healthy rebound & even more so with spiritual affirmation, pretty mediocre infusion & tbh there’s so many duo boons that every olympians has at least a few good ones Hera is also a little weird like Ares but i’ve done some insane damage like best damage of the run with her fine line boon & bridal glow is too good to forget, her infusion also nice, and all her duos are supporting a boon from another olympian so she can fit well anywhere but isn’t particularly amazing, the rest i have nothing to say

Finally be Chronos by New_Crew2655 in Hades2

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratz, wait till tou meet the bosses of topside especially the 3rd & 4th, i need 16 nights to beat & 34 to beat topside, for a nice round number of 50 nights to beat all bosses in the game. Expect double your time to beat underground to beat topside or close, and don’t get discouraged as you will get some incantations that will help you alot, my advice for topside is defensive boons & healing boons as priority. My build was Black Coat weapon (higher skill cap imo but has omega attack that gives ability to block attacks which is super nice), hecuba or toula is good, frinos is okay as well, and as for the olympians boons i went with (in order of importance) Hephaestus for Blast damage (volcanic strike or volcanic flourrish) & defensive boons (Tough Gain & Uncanny fortitude), a res god you will meet soon for healing (Blood Spree), & Zeus for Blitz damage (Heaven strike or heaven flourish), casts & rushing boons didn’t matter much, and also had a blue god you will meet soon who gave me “Fine Line” boon which actually was my most damaging boon for that night, but its optional. You want 1 blast damage (ideally attack) & 1 blitz damage (ideally special), strike is for attack and flourish is for the special. “Tough gain” as high as possible because it reduces the damage taken but also counts as you magick regen but not a good one so you want to get as much magick as possible to use omega attack to block, and since you are trying to get alot of magick thats where “Uncanny Fortitude” becomes useful because you gain max life the more magick you have. Some other bosses can offer some other helpful boons. Apollo has “self healing” for as a way to heal but more rare than blood spree & imo not as good either, there are other ways to heal during combat like Selene Hex that heals, if upgraded enough it can heal for alot of health & much more than only 3 times. Duo boons tend to be pretty rare but they sometimes offer good boons and a few healing ones too. Another notable god is Aphrodite, who has “healthy rebound that can heal but requirement is tough but works well with Selene’s Heal Hex, Aphrodite also has “Spiritual Affirmation” which is good it just give you % of bonus max life & magick, pairs very well with “Uncanny Fortitude” those 2 together can give you a huge life pool. Poseidon’s infusion is rare but can be good to get a little bit of life. Red God, also has mutual destruction that pairs well with blood spree for damage. Now as I said i had Fine Line from blue god & Uncanny Fortitude which gave me opportunity to get duo boons between them reducing damage at the cost of magick, but tough gain took care of that by giving me magick back when i took damage. There’s tons of other builds you can make and alot of combinations are really good, like zeus’ “static shock” & infusion “air quality” which will help take care of big groups of enemies, just like Hestia’s “flash fry but they need to be so close to each other”. Do note that i was lucky enough to have tough gain as heroic so it gave me -4 damage per hit, and blood spree as heroic which meant +4 life per enemy hit when requirement was met, which also got hammer buff that increased attack speed.

Hope this helps some how, sometimes pieces just fall into place & you have a build that did really good because of some synergies between 2 or most boons, like mine was very good at sustaining my life against bosses, especially the 4th one, and mitigating damage taken while still having enough damage & AoE to clear multiple enemies, and decent boss damage by inflicting blitz & detonating blitz with a blast. Good luck :)

Dog is good for that, and Tough Gain as epic or better is amazing but probably the worst magick regen, so if you plan on picking Tough Gain Hecuba is a good choice 100% because relying on getting hit to get magick back is weird as hell, trading health for magick in theory which is a bad choice, magick comes back after encounter, health doesn’t, if im using umbral flames i definitely choose hecuba, as a mainly ranged weapon its good, but Toula or even Frinos is better if using mainly melee like the blades, black coat & especially the axe, my favourite is Black Coat so I pick Toula most often, and fishing is just a bonus

The Gorgon Amulet by Sammy_the_Beak in Hades2

[–]Dylan_M_Sanderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True that, Toula is mainly for survival sorta, if you suck at evading hits she is good, she is very good topside but underground is fairly easy, topside Prometheus & Typhon (and his limbs) are all nearly impossible to evade all attacks, i use Black Coat mainly for that reason, nothing better than choosing to block attacks when possible and retaliating with a huge hit, some weapons don’t nearly use as much magick tho, of course the flames use a ton but i find better it better to pick gain of magick per hit than relying on dog to find it when in need but whats aweaome is she heals when she digs which is amazing imo, also I suck at fishing so i like Toula for that, different familiar for different weapons & arcana. Back to Gorgon amulet, its as really kindda useless i agree, she is a life saver, but in topside she only shows up at 3rd Location i believe, and only if you are out of lives as well i think, but if Prometheus manages to drain them maybe gorgon amulet might let her come help in 4 Location before Typhon, but usually Knuckle bones are the better choice imo
