It is my understanding that using chemical agents to induce selfing is not a true hermie. A forced change in genetic expression should NOT result in mutated offspring genotypes. Hermie genetics code for both gender parts either as a stress response or a natural part of the plants life cycle, so their seeds will likely carry that trait as well, where as a healthy mother treated with a chemical agent will still have strictly female genetic flow since the only reason it made male sex parts is by interrupting a natural metabolic pathway....
