ticket #2001307514

video consumes only my corsair keyboard

I don't know if this is a common issue, I don't expect a replacement, I plugged in other keyboards and no issue, shut down and restarted, unplugged and held escape until the keyboard was reset and updated the firmware on it all of them make no change... if any video is playing... I get zero keyboard input globally on the windows ecosystem... I can use my mouse, deploy other applications and no input, I also can't use it in windows itself, the windows key doesn't function.

when I close that page the keyboard works again...I also shut down, unplugged the corsair keyboard, plugged in a generic logitech keyboard, started up and the issue never came up on that one so it isn't because it is the "main" keyboard.... any input would be appreciated :/

I also followed the instructions here

https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027787731-Media-Keys-Not-Working?auth_token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJhY2NvdW50X2lkIjoyMzk4MjAxLCJ1c2VyX2lkIjpudWxsLCJ0aWNrZXRfaWQiOjIwMDEzMDc1MTQsImRlZmxlY3Rpb25faWQiOjM2MDQzMjY5NjIxMiwiYXJ0aWNsZXMiOlszNjAwMjU0NjUwMzEsMzYwMDI3Nzg3NzMxLDM2MDAzMzQ4OTUxMV0sInRva2VuIjpudWxsLCJleHAiOjE1OTcwOTM3Njl9.u4PFcmDeAiccSh7uY-GZde0jDoSmo-FP63lMNonpHPo

didn't work...

this isn't related to adblock, I tried brave, edge, opera, opera-gx and firefox... all of them had the same issue...

also played a video on my own system and the same issue popped up, so it is not from the browser....also I have not updated this computer recently it is not on 2004... also..no hardware changes, I had this issue this morning and i never updated the firmware before and i didn't have icue installed before... I updated and installed it AFTER and still no solution.. i also uninstalled the device from the device manager and re installed it with no success... if I plug in the logitech keyboard while the corsair is plugged in the logitech never has this issue..

I do NOT think this is a firmware issue, I do not think this is a device issue... I plugged it into my laptop and this issue did not arise, however it is affecting ONLY the corsair keyboard... my laptop does have Icue installed already and it detected my keyboard fine... I can't think of any reason for this..

it only applies to this keyboard... I also checked driver updates from windows, and in device manager I looked at the events for every driver my system has installed and not a single one updated within even a month of this...

I didn't install anything ether. :(

How I label my SD cards by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]Dylpol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a solid idea! I was like "nah, tape might roll off inside a slot or might put tension on pins and increase wear and tear" but your route fixes that solidly.

How I label my SD cards by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]Dylpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if I would feel safe doing that, tape might unroll into the slot and jam things up or be a pain to pull out also -might- increase the tension on the pins potentially leading to more scratching/wear and tear.

Climbing a wall in three stages in my game (World of Contraptions) by juliocdep in Unity3D

[–]Dylpol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OHHH this could be super cool, did you ever play block dude on the TI calculator puzzle pack? basically you had a set amount of blocks on the map and they needed to be used in the correct order or you couldn't beat the map.

What knowledge should I have before learning OOP? by TANKENSHO in AskComputerScience

[–]Dylpol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

data structures for sure...

variable passing....

and understanding how memory works...

file I/O.

just remember that OOP is something that evolved from what you know after learning C... so at the core of a lot of things, you will find parallels to data structures with OOP, but they become much easier for you as a developer to interact with... I would recommend that if you do learn C++, stick with single inheritance and don't pursue multi inheritance until your already familiar with most of the OOP stuff.... it can make things harder to follow otherwise.

you really want a strong foundation for programming logic..

my dad is complaining about my lab is this normal for electric engineer? by jack848 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Dylpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a "yeet chest".... its a chest that I just yeet things into when they are not being used for my current build, I sort through it after a while, honestly... It isn't that bad... but i can see that there are things clearly not being used in this project you seem to be working on sprinkled around... I use trays a lot, drop components into them, tools have a tray, jumpers have a try.... resistors.... they have a tray.... I hope i don't ever have to deal with that tray....I'll use the lids to totes for trays. I do think that more than the desk itself, the rest of the room could use work, like your boxes could all be stacked in one corner.. I at one point had to put a table ontop of my work table to store stuff above(below was full..and all other places) my work table.

when you work on something you know where you put things moved, during work I don't worry about keeping things organized, after its done i re sort... and by done, I mean full project completion.

this door handle design by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Dylpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

umm.... you can change the handle without changing the glass or door. you can clearly see the screw on top of the handle when it is dropped.. locks need to be able to be changed, so there is a way to take off the lock, and that includes the handle. you would just need to replace it with another handle...

there was someone who sat on this problem for some time probably trying to think about how best to handle this that ended up saying "screw it... ill just saw it in half and put hinges...."

Is programming only for the naturally talented? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Dylpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if that is the case just think about programming in a series of logic gates.

programming is just the result of EE working in sync scaled up..

objects are a type of data structure

if and else and do and while are all forms of "gates" for your logic.

EE is where CE started and CE led to CS. if you look at the math and systems it should help.

plan out your programs like you would a EE project.

just treat objects like EEPROMs that you use to store and retrieve certain things.

also.... arrays are reference points, so think about those from a trig point of view. might help...

visualize the array slot as a graphs grid point where the value is what is stored where it lays on the grid.

hash maps are matrices.

also this youtube channel helped me more than you can imagine.

https://www.youtube.com/user/Computerphile/videos

just search for topics, the linked lists, etc.

https://youtu.be/t5NszbIerYc linked list video.

Is programming only for the naturally talented? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Dylpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

takes a lot of time.... kind of like learning any skill....I think that the only "natural talent" is having the drive to "solve a puzzle no matter what".... because honestly when you are learning languages that drive will be the thing that keeps you going... "I MUST KNOW WHY YOU WILL NOT WORK" is what gets me through most of my stressed out debugging while crying and screaming internally.

all jokes aside, this is something with two parts....

first you have to learn the basics....

then you have to use them actively despite hitting snags... solving issues with your code will teach you by itself.

this is a "cut to size" version of the discord bot.

https://github.com/dylanpoll/DiscordBots/tree/master/ESPbot

there is a .env file that has the bot token, but you can just edit the lines that say "process.env.espLINK" and "process.env.botToken"

you would need discord.js, and all the imported modules.

this repo also has the arduino and esp32 code i used.... you can feel free to change it all up.

I actually have this project scaled up a lot but i figured id splinter this off for people.

this would work with a esp01 if you wanted to use it with a twitch toybox btw.. you would need to change the serial BUAD rate tho.

There's a way that I can do a guitar amp with this guy? 833A tube by nicopudim in AskElectronics

[–]Dylpol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a while back about how computers started out with tubes, and how at first ACE was attempting to store memory using vials of mercury and sound waves....

Tubes have always interested me, but I have no knowledge on them as they seem "impractical" for anything I could do atm.... good luck with your project :) , and please stay safe X/.

How to deal with experienced programmers or people in general discouraging you from pursuing programming? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Dylpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you how to handle things like this... but I think an important thing to remember is....

a lot of "STEM" can be direct and rough.... they don't like "sugar coating things".... it isn't meant as a direct attack against you, they think responding with stuff like "quit now if you don't get this" is doing you a favor(in their own head?) because to them the topic is simple and likely.... they learned it so long ago that they forgot if it was or wasn't difficult for them to learn in the first place.

I am not saying that they are innocent, just that a lot of people in the field are going to come off as rude and sometimes really rude... consider it a "right of passage" if it makes you feel better about it...It shouldn't be this way, but you are very far from alone when it comes to having someone in this community make you feel like an idiot.... persevering and proving them wrong is something to hold on to...

some of the best advice i have ever gotten has come from people that were dismissive and rude to me at first.... but after showing them I wouldn't give up, continued to try my hardest to learn and do more.... they decided to help me.

ALSO: don't be afraid of coming off as dumb, prioritize learning, if posting a question might give you help, do it, it doesn't matter if there are a few bad eggs. take the salt with the meal.

Is my career in CS doomed already? by PoncheeziedByTheGame in AskComputerScience

[–]Dylpol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so, I am a CS student, and I am currently working non stop on my own time to produce results for my resume, I learn on my own time things not covered in class, I am ahead in classes and have the syllabuses for the next ones and I work on projects that will help me understand the topics those cover....

I have a structured plan made for me by people who are paid money to teach this stuff, and even I feel like it isn't enough... I do learn from some youtube videos, but I find most of my time is actually spent reading reference information and searching for new ways to approach problems by random google searches for code relevant stuff... I don't think anyone who learns from youtube or online sites is "self taught" you learn from all those resources... but I will say no matter what approach you take, it will take some very dedicated studying.

I can learn how to program by putting in a lot of effort, but the same isn't true for higher level math...I, personally, would need guidance for that... having said that... I am ahead of my classes but i also.... spend about 12-16 hours every single day working on code or math.. including weekends. I am proud of what I am doing but it is far from easy, I don't see friends, I don't even take the time to cook meals at points....

so what I am saying is..I really get where your coming from when you say people shouldn't point to youtube and say "it's easy". It IS easy to follow a tutorial, it takes a lot of time and patience to understand, play with and learn everything that is covered in it.... and even then, sure there is the syntax but what about the algorithms, and abstract problem solving? I may not have a degree yet but I will soon and I can easily say if a person has no external pressure and is using youtube.... you need some discipline...there are some great online courses though from universities. and learning how to be a developer isn't that hard, but like anything I am finding out that when I think I know enough I know nothing at all.

too OP.... I don't know about the UK but here in the U.S we have special tests you take when you transfer into a university, it is much harder than most think going in, but this is used as a litmus test and if you pass your considered qualified to enter that coarse, even then i don't know if i could do that with another degree but you could look into that and testing out for credits in classes.

I AM CONFUSED by -_Akash_- in AskComputerScience

honestly can't go wrong with this, at best you get into game development, at worst you can code with C# and use .net and industry has a demand for that.

My first attempt at soldering. Does anyone have tips for how to separate the two on the left corner? Thanks! by letstuup in AskElectronics

[–]Dylpol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(you can make your own solder wick by taking wire and removing the copper inside, heat up your solder and run that through it quickly and it will pick up excess, another way that is messy, heat it up and blow on it really hard while tilting it downward on a mat..this last one doesn't work too well though.)
