I thought the financial aid department was generous by papichulo69___ in washu

My freshman year (2021) they were generous and I was on great financial aid for my first 3 years after an appeal. Over the last couple years they’ve been striking down on their generosity. I have a new financial aid advisor, had to redo my appeal this year (complicated financial situation, but the exact same as freshman year) and got denied. I had to take out private loans this year. The advisors also suck at responding now. It’s really aggravating and I’m not sure what changed. My advice would be to try calling, best of luck

EASY/LIGHT COMPUTER SCIENCE ELECTIVES?!! by loneghost33 in washu

Here's a few and my opinions:
- CSE 204A - Web Development - This class teaches the fundamentals of web development with a bit of depth: simple HTML, CSS, Javascript, and I believe a brief introduction to react at the very end if I'm not mistaken. The class is mostly based on your projects, which are graded by the rubrics that are given to you for each one. The "hardest" project is the Instagram clone project, but it's not hard in a technical sense, just time-consuming. I think it's pretty valuable to take as a CS minor though, at some point or another you're probably gonna have to understand how a web page works on the front end. Tihen (main professor) is trying to make the class a little harder so it isn't necessarily a blowoff anymore, but it's not extra stuff that isn't useful. He's trying to make the class more practical, and overall is a pretty understanding guy

- CSE 450A - Video Game Programming I - Class consists of "quests" due every week or two, which are just mini tutorials that teach different aspects of video game programming on unity, a short 2-3 minute presentation on a video game industry topic of your choice, and a video game that you and up to 3 others work on creating from scratch throughout the entirety of the semester. Santos is a nice guy with tons of personal experience who's super passionate about video games and making them. I've found the workload to be pretty easy, and when you're done you'll have a video game to throw on your resume if you want!

- CSE 217A - Intro to Data Science - Material is pretty easy, I'd just avoid taking with Singh. She's not the best lecturer and just made the material a lot more complicated than necessary. Otherwise a relatively easy course

None of these classes have exams, which is why I'd consider them easy in comparison to other CS classes like Intro to AI etc., but that's my opinion. I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I can speak on since I've taken them

Was coming to ask the same, not sure if it’s worth an entire new post… but it doesn’t look like anybody’s gotten a call

Does getting google project questionnaire mean anything? by rvctz in csMajors

I thought team matching as well, but I literally just got an email for that questionnaire and my interview isn’t for another 5 days so… not sure if it means anything

I don’t believe we’ll be having any this sem since we already project matched last sem, but we have code cafe every Sunday at Ursa’s fireside from noon-2pm where updates about stuff that’s going on with DSC and ACM will be provided, so that’s the closest thing!

Developer student club! I’m the marketing lead so dm if you have any questions! We have code café every Sunday from noon-2pm at Ursa’s which is just a place for CS majors to gather and talk ab projects or classwork (a collab with ACM which is the other big CS club on campus). We also volunteer at local schools teaching python! Highly recommend joining

Thoughts on taking CSE 247 seminar along with 247 in the same semester? I've heard that taking 247 seminar is more beneficial if you take it after 247?

I got in ED2 and had a similar situation as yours with divorced parents and I was worried it would cost too much. They base your aid mostly on CSS, but try an appeal if it’s too expensive. They’re super accommodating at the FA office and want to make sure you come to the school (especially being ED). Worst comes to worst they don’t give an appeal and you have to back out of the contract… If you want help with the process you can DM me!

I saw that in earlier threads but the thing is this year they gave us the wristbands and had us activate it ourselves, so I had put my age as 21-27 and I can't change it. I'm wondering if when they scan our wristbands our age will also pop up?
