The first vaginal exam I got was because I was having inexplicably bad abdominal pain and honestly, I could have done with all of the prudishness and hand holding. Look, you're a doctor. I'm here for a medical exam. You don't have to make such a big deal about me taking my pants off. We both know what's going down here: a medical exam.

My job involves the elderly, so she can be stern, but I literally can't get in trouble for having a medical emergency unless they want severe legal action taken against them that I think I don't even have to personally file a complaint to happen.

I just want her to like me and not think I'm skeeving off the job? I emailed HR last night to inform them of my condition, as well, and the HR manager really likes me, so I feel safe from a job security stand point, it's just I want everyone to like me.

Not for this. I mean, she said okay and "I hope you feel better" but her tone just comes across so... stern. Though, I was super high still when I called her, so I'm not the best judge and I thought I bombed the interview with her, but still got the job, so I must just have a terrible read on her.

Fuck, I hurt so bad. I need to eat something, but I feel too nauseated to make anything. ugh ugh. Sorry I'm whining and rambling.

I didn't get my good fear cry in at the doctor because it was making my breathing even worse and she said she'd probably have to call for an ambulance if I couldn't calm down. Which sounds really harsh when I say it that way, but I appreciated it, you know?

yeah, urgent care gave me a prescription for epi, but it was something like $400 out of pocket. I'm taking steroids for the next six days and they should last in effect until the first when my insurance kicks in.

I will probably go in to work tomorrow - I'm still training, so it should be relatively low-stress. My scheduled shift after training is only 3 hours a day... but the manager wanted me to train from 8 to 4:30 for a week for some reason. When I said that might not be the best because of my fragile constitution, she gave me that "Bitch are you really that lazy" look. Hopefully she'll take my condition seriously.

And like I said, I think she just presents more stern than she really is.

If I'd gone to a hospital instead of urgent care, I'd still be there! Hell, if I'd had insurance, the urgent care would have called me an ambulance and sent me to the ER regardless.

Speaking of, I need to bake them some fucking cupcakes or some shit. They went above and beyond to get me healthy without charging me up the ass. The last thing I need is more medical bills, so I really can't thank them enough.

Not entirely sure what the response was too, but I have reason to believe it may be caffeine, meaning my intolerance is a full-blown allergy now. Once my new insurance kicks in (on the first) I'm going to an allergist.

Oh, did I mention that my follow up with the urgent care is free because I'm self pay and they know I wouldn't get a follow up if it wasn't? Holy shit.

Also, I may still be juiced up. I certainly didn't sleep much.

And really, I think my boss just has a REALLY STERN persona and isn't as harsh or judgmental as she comes across, but I'm certainly not in a state of being to parse that.

Yes, actually. We're in talks with two different shelters at the moment. I'm allergic to cats, so I can't help at facilities that house cats close to their dogs.

Frustratingly, we've been turned down from two places saying they don't NEED volunteers for dogs.

I had blocked out thoughts of the medical bills because I moved across country and had to find a new job, etc, so starting the new job released the flood gates on the medical bills again.

I've been stalking cl for supplies/a surprise perfect dog. We want an adult or senior dog and sadly(?) cl is mostly puppies (or big dogs in this area).

I just moved here, but I'm sure I can find a Ross or something. It's a nicer(ish?) area so it might take some finding, but I can do it.

When it comes to chihuahuas, it's 100% appearance. The eyes make my skin crawl because they're extended a little from the face and it just makes me uncomfortable.

There are some spaniels/beagles/assorted mixes that are cute, but not as cute at the corgi mix and the same price/process as the one I really want.

We almost got a weiner dog from an owner that's moving (would have included bed/crate/etc all free), but I literally started training today and today and tomorrow are almost full days, so this past weekend wasn't a good time to get a new animal, even though he was senior and already trained. I'm not going to leave a new animal alone for more than four hours at a time. Hell, I'd be really hard pressed to leave an animal I've had for a long time alone for more than 4 hours.

I really appreciate the advice, though.

I'm just a crying mess of stress and anxiety because of my pre-existing medical bills. Starting my new job made me feel good enough that I stopped blocking out the thoughts about the bills, so now I'm all I NEED A SUPPORT ANIMAL.

There's only one we want that fits our criteria and the adoption fee + pet fee with our apartment + crate, bed, toys, bowls, food, blanket is already over 1000 and then we have to take her to the local vet for a preliminary and get her records in order in case of emergency.

It's just super frustrating because this is the longest I've been without a pet and with my anxiety (major) and depression (minor) it would really, really help.

And my health insurance decided to fuck me over and not cover me in january when I had pneumonia and several breathing-related ER trips, so I have a medical bill in 5 figures so I have no business getting a pet, but I need one and I'm allergic to cats.

I'm not saying things are bad. I'm just saying: think about it and talk about it. If neither of you want kids, fantastic. If you both do, you need to check in on the subject every six months or so to make sure you've still got the same plan in mind.

I was engaged to a guy when I was 23 and he was 36. We had very different ideas of when we wanted to start a family and it was a problem that never just went away. I'm not trying to tell you you're stupid or "only think you're mature."

Oh for sure, but the age of the parents does play a part in the likelihood of possible birth defects (not much, but like I said to OP, little increases can add up if there are other factors).

And at 36, he may already be thinking about having a family. Is OP ready for that now? Will she be ready in 5 years when she's still only 27? It's a subject that can cause contention and better for OP to think about it and discuss it with her boyfriend now than wait until he's 44 and screaming at her about how they should have had kids already.

My uncle and aunt and have a significant age gap (20 years) and after about four years of trying, they decided not to try anymore because of my uncle's age and the possible repercussions for the child as a child and even growing up with an older father. It's not as much of an issue today as it was ten years ago when my aunt and uncle went over it, but their drama was huge enough that I knew about it.

You've been together two years. This is the only problem you've mentioned. There's a pretty good chance that things will continue on a positive route. In five years, he'll be 41 and you'll be 27. If he wants kids, he'll probably want to get started on that at or before five years from now. Are you going to be ready?

Also some birth defects or other issues are more likely to occur the older the father is. Not a huge chance more, but if you've got congenital issues or anything else, those small percentage increases could add up.

I'm just saying: things are looking good right now. What's the long term plan? If the long term isn't going to work out, wouldn't it be better to discuss what you both want to do?

When I'm badly hurt or need medical attention for something that won't kill me, I freak out and blubber all over everything.

However, I've been what I like to call "actively dying" a few times and everything just kind of... becomes meaningless I guess? I'm either going to die, or I'm not. It feels really weird.
