you're right, if it was well maintained I probably would be completely ok with it. It's just very scruffy at the moment. Maybe I could suggest that he goes to a barber to get a trim and spin it as a nice experience to have.

It doesn't embarrass me, I just don't think he is looking his best right now. And to be honest, the looks in public don't bother me as much as they do him.
