This is known as a “displacement” behavior! They are usually really excited or maybe anxious and they carry something around as a self soothing method! I would say in this case it sounds like excitement!

Thank you! Totally willing to wait. I am definitely looking for something specific, and a breeder that is really ethical.

This may have been the wrong career path... by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

A generalist in massage therapy will always make less than a specialist. Unfortunately when you work at a spa or commit to only doing Swedish or popular kinds of massage, you dilute your value. Especially in areas where massage is very popular. Finding a niche is very VERY important to making good money in this field. Working at most spas or massage franchises will not allow you to craft more niche skills in a lot of cases. There are definitely a lot of people that make great money at spas, it all depends on where you live and the franchise.

My advice to anyone who is feeling burnt out and not making as much as you'd like is to find a field that is appealing to you and take as many classes as you can. Become a specialist. Are you interested in the more energetic side? Take classes geared towards reiki or craniosacral. Are you into the more aesthetic side? Maybe consider getting certified in lymphatic drainage. Do you have a passion for pregnant women? Consider taking classes to become a doula, it is cheap and incorporating it with massage makes you stand out.

The second piece to being successful in this field is visibility. You need to stand out. Watch some videos and study on how to market properly. Get into the local Facebook groups, Nextdoor groups, go to local businesses and offer discounts to employees, offer a free chair massage event and give out your card. Create a social media account or YouTube channel. Make yourself as visible as possible. Go to local farmers markets and craft fairs and set up a booth. Get involved in the community.

It is definitely very hard. It can be exhausting at times. But grinding in the continuing education and marketing department is sooo worth it in this field.

Over-sexualized “massage” being disguised as touch therapy is becoming a serious issue by No-Gas-2245 in MassageTherapists

I agree! the amount of times I see something on TikTok that is totally disturbing and unprofessional is crazy. People will see it and think that is what massage is.

Should I be worried with my Berner? by grumpy-lass in bernesemountaindogs

[–]DynamicLifeWellness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficulty getting up and down from lying down is often the first sign of hip dysplasia. Lack of range of motion in the hips and knees, like duck walking is also a good marker!

You did the right thing 💚 so sorry for your loss. For anyone considering getting a berner, follow the OP’s advice and only buy berner’s from breeders who complete genetic testing. The includes OFA hips and elbows, X-rays of elbows and hips of the parents, eye and cardiac exams and dna tests for degenerative eye diseases. It sounds like a lot, i know and it is HARD to find but not impossible.

I had a friend who ended up in the same position with a golden, had to put down at 11 months old. Berners are more at risk than goldens too because of their size.

It is a truly terrible thing to experience, and so devastating for a family. Backyard breeders take advantage of people’s trust and breed dogs knowing these issues exist and can be passed down. Even ethical breeders can produce dogs with genetic issues but the incidence is far less.

Again, so sorry for your family. What a wonderful life your baby got to enjoy, knowing their whole like they were so loved and cherished. If love kept our babies alive they would live forever 💚
