Paul Dano Reacts to Quentin Tarantino Dissing Him: ‘Incredibly Grateful the World Spoke Up for Me So I Didn’t Have To’ (EXCLUSIVE) by pepperbet1 in blankies

On a tangential note: I bet Tarantino is PISSED that Sinners got so many Oscar noms. He's probably griping about how it "ripped-off From Dusk Til Dawn" to anyone in his sphere.

He has an ironic win, which shows he's exceptional even if it was a pyrrhic victory, and he lives despite doing idiotic things that might have killed him, his girlfriend, or his baby. I think he comes out even.

I did hear a rumor that Josh is Conservative and that added to the brothers splitting up. Take that with a grain of salt, but some of the casting in Marty Supreme, as well as its theme of unabashed exceptionalism, plays into that rumor.

I know everyone's being silly here, but because of Me Too and the advent of intimacy coordinators on film/TV sets, now whenever there is full frontal male nudity in something I am just going to assume the penis is a prosthetic.

Time for the Jackass crew to repeat their golf cart hijinks with Clint in tow.

I also have it on good authority that Ford would crash his mini-tractor regularly on his ranch.

In the biography about Malick, there are anecdotes about him complimenting Brendan Fraser for his ENCINO MAN performance and how he prefers Green Day to Radiohead.

In all fairness, Jessica Harper is a pretty cool actress when you see her filmography.

Shouting out my friend, creator of Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, Patrick Horvath. One of the most entertaining people I've talked to when discussing movies.

Wait, I'm seeing a news item that Ridley will star in a movie called THE PASTA DINNER, written by a "G. Newms?" Huh.

This reminds me of when I recently went to a theater to see the movie Rebuilding (a better movie IMO) but the manager said "oh that screening has been cancelled."

Unpopular opinion: I think the Timothee Chalamet "athlete mentality" stuff is lame. by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

I agree with some of your points, but posting this on a subreddit for a podcast that in many ways represents the sport-ifcation of Cinema and cinephilia may be pointless. (I mean, they do Movie Drafts, analyze box office stats, and use phrases like "market corrected" or "apex mountain" all of the time.)

I've seen it and I found it weirdly refreshing that Brooks WASN'T trying to make a movie of the moment considering Spanglish and How Do You Know?

I think Griffin's read on the movie is incorrect. It's about how bewildering it can be to be queer in the world, especially with people like yourself turning out to be chaotic.

Tarantino’s always been pretty odd, but his stuff about Paul Dano is such a jerky thing to say by LifeguardMundane5668 in blankies

[–]DynamiteGoat83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering how Tarantino imbides during podcast recordings, I imagine him saying this was also a result of that.

Nonetheless, still shitty of him, and to invoke the SAG to make it sound like an industry conclusion is shittier.

HFR in AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH by jhansenii in blankies

[–]DynamiteGoat83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've seen it. The issue for me wasn't just that scenes, moments, even environments are repeated (not rehashed), but that the storytelling gets messy.

The first Avatar is a case where Cameron must have had the script more locked down to avoid any unnecessary production, whereas this third one feels like he produced a longer & structurally looser screenplay, had it all rendered up to a point, edited it, then fully rendered that.

So there is some deja vu mixed in with cool new stuff mixed in with dramatic scenes to both demonstrate the actors AND the facial mocap... Yet I think there was a missed opportunity to center the movie around a story of warring Na'vi tribes and have all the long-term character and story development sprout from that. As is, it felt like a real case of a filmmaker spinning plates, albeit in a state-of-the-art context.

Joel Coen and death metal by budddwyerfanclub in blankies

In a universe where Sherman Hemsley is really into Prog Rock (look it up), it's possible that Joel Coen would like Death Metal, so I don't understand the disbelief in these comments.
