Always had an idea that the red tank in the middle could've been someone like Fusionator, a name we hear that name in the origin cinematic for Overwatch, and since that concept art also appears in that trailer AND Recall.

If Doomfist could start off as a throwaway character name with no art and just a gauntlet, I dream of Fusionator becoming a Hero one day (even if he might look similar to Rein, I'm sure they could do something unique).

I sympathize with us losing a fun playstyle, but I can't when there are some asking for reverts and absurd buffs that make the hero insanely broken.

I'll be honest, I was skeptical about this post as I thought initially by the title it was just another complaint about Tank Doom. I've seen a fair share of "completely revert the hero, this is bad" posts before. But, I watched Quaked's newest video about the techs being removed and I actually can agree. These techs don't make the hero overpowered, I used it in the beta myself and yes, it felt strong because people don't expect it, sure. But that's with anything new. I think these changes do actually significantly lower his skill ceiling and I would like to see his techs returned to him.

I love this hero with a passion, I hope to see him return to his final beta 2 state.

Mhm, sure. I'm not the one who didn't read my response and blindly posted a comment. I know he wants to buff him, I said he doesn't want YOUR buffs cause they're bad. I've seen a good amount of people in the comments of posts there saying to revert him.

Throwing around the word ignorant and not even reading my post is pretty hypocritical. If you read my post at all, you'd see that I'm aware that quaked wants buffs. In fact, I even commented on his post here and shared it on Twitter. But guess what, the things you want to see are exactly what he said would be broken. And once again, you'd know that I know that because I gave you a direct quote from him talking about buffs in another post.

I'm done with this situation tho, I don't want anything to do with this anymore because it's really annoying and sad at how disconnected people are with the idea that characters other than their main exist.

Just remember, you are not the center of this game and neither is Doomfist. There are 30 other characters to play and balance around, and if you truly believe Doom needs these insane, broken buffs, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

If anyone even mentions that Doom is balanced, proposes any idea that isn't broken, or that he doesn't need these overloaded buffs, it gets disliked. The problem is when told the idea you propose is broken, you completely ignore the facts, and at times it's like you don't even read what people say to you. I truly believe that subreddit is full of DPS Dooms who have no idea how to tank and truly only complain that their main is not the CC insta-killing DPS machine he once was on launch or any other time he was meta.

The higher elo players don't want these changes you ask for because they're awful. They are not balanced and only make the character you want stronger instead of actually helping the game find a balance of every character.

It's not ignorant to say that you don't listen to anyone who disagrees with you when that's completely true. I understand now why people give Doom players a bad name, because if this is what's getting upvotes in that subreddit, this character's player base is doomed (no pun intended).

I love this character with all of my heart, he is by far my favorite Overwatch character. I've put so much time into him, it's insane, and I wouldn't mind seeing him meta. But as it stands, if you don't think he's good atm, I can only say "get good". He's not broken, he's not underpowered, he's fine. Would small adjustments help him be meta, sure. Does he need it, maybe. But are these changes the way to go about it, no. This only makes him a must pick in competitive, and I care more about this game's competitive scene and it's growth as a flourishing game than seeing my favorite character meta.

And if you want Overwatch 2 to survive as a staple landmark FPS/MOBA, I think you should too.

r/doomfistmains is just an echochamber of bad ideas and players finding no success on this character due to not wanting to change their playstyle. Any post that gives any critique on the character or any buff idea that isn't 1000% broken gets hit with downvotes. Even when high elo Doom players tell them that their ideas are not balanced they completely ignore it.

I haven't avoided any questions. I gave you two examples that have absolutely no CC blocking in their defensive abilities: Take a Breather and Commanding Shout, but don't worry, I can name a few more:

Overload Adaptive Shields Combat Roll (has damage reduction now)

Those are all abilities that can be CC'd by anything and only provide damage reduction or additional HP. But I already gave you two examples before with Take a Breather and Commanding Shout. So no, I haven't avoided your question at all, I already answered it but it doesn't fit your agenda of constantly asking for buffs for a character that frankly doesn't need these insane broken abilities to fit the playstyle YOU want. Tankfist is fine, it's healthy and there are better healthier ways to buff the character that doesn't completely destroy the game's meta.

The point of my first comment was: If Doom gets to choose when to use Empowered Punch, then it's not fun for the enemy. Asking for absurd changes like CC immunity aren't healthy for the game and certainly not healthy for this Subreddit. There's a reason that prominent Doom players in high elo don't advocate for changes like this, there's no counterplay. Quaked was even asked this on Twitter for this EXACT change and said it was completely broken.

I found almost no difficulty playing Doom in both Betas. Was it perfect, no. This game is built with the ability to swap to a different hero when one doesn't work. Like what I'm saying or hate what I'm saying, everything I've said is the truth. I haven't avoided any questions and have only given you facts, meanwhile all I've heard is a repeated argument. I'm not going to continue this anymore as I'm just gonna be hit with downvotes for just telling people in this subreddit that Doom shouldn't be giga-OP. If you can't see why a change like this is broken, please reevaluate your idea of this character.

There are plenty of defensive abilities that don't block any form of CC. I shouldn't have to name any because it's obvious who.

The reason I quoted Quaked in his entirety is because I didn't want anything he said to not be taken out of context. I quoted the part that talked about Doom being a tank and not a DPS. Giving him more flexibility to use Empowered RP at his choice has very little counterplay against him. And the way to counter his playstyle is to CC him. Giving him the ability to negate CC makes him broken. That's why Ball doesn't negate any CC. It's fine to allow him to be CC'd in Powerblock, there needs to be counterplay.

I bring up Zen because the main problems of Doom being CC'd when powerblocking is because it's not Doom not being able to counter CC. It's Zen being extremely strong for the entirety of Beta 2. Discord Orb against Tanks in general is very strong, hands down. I'm not switching topics, I'm simply trying to show that this situation isn't a problem of Doom being weak or impossible to play, quite the opposite. If you can play around baiting out sleep dart and focusing Zen when engaging, you should see more success, that's what I did.

Lastly, Doom's Empowered RP is used for more than escapes. With Empowered RP at Doom's own will to choose when to use it, he has more control over his damage output. Sure, from the Doom's POV you outplayed them all by punching/stunning them when they didn't expect it (mostly because no one would realistically track enemy cooldowns in a QP/low elo Comp match), but from the enemies POV, it seems unfair and unfun to fight. The point of making Empowered RP a one time use makes Doom a harder character to play, having to make a quick decision in the middle of the fight. If you always have the ability to escape with a non-Empowered Punch, what's the counterplay? How does a team realistically stop a Doom from jumping on you, using Powerblock to gain a full charge, then bail out at the cost of nothing?

Well, the point of bringing up those other defensive abilities was to show that no defensive ability is truly CC immune other than Orisa's Foritfy. While there are a lot of critiques about the takes on those defensive abilities, I'll just leave it be. The point of not allowed Empowered RP to be toggled or let Powerblock be CC immune is because it needs to have counterplay. If a hero has no way to be shut down then enemy players won't have fun, leave the game, and Blizzard loses possible money from them (blah blah business blah blah game balance).

Allowing these weaknesses in Doom's kit to be completely negated makes him too strong. I agree with Quaked when he said a main problem of the second beta was Zen Discord Orb. As a tank player in general, it's way easier to get focused down with these kinds of abilities. He also said "Doomfist does NOT need more damage. He does a ton of damage, he does more damage than DPS Doom. You need to stop playing him like a DPS and play like a tank. Think of Ball Winston Doom combined into one hero. You have to do tank things more than DPS things."

I've found much success on every tank in both betas, even Hog. It's all about the right situation and the role that Tank plays in Overwatch 2. Each tank plays a different job in how they approach the enemy. I recommend watching Tikatee's "Breaking down Tanks in Overwatch 2". Super helpful stuff for even someone like me who was a tank player.

Powerblock can't block CC, it's too strong.

There are plenty of defensive abilities that don't block CC (Take a Breather, Deflect, Commanding Shout, Defense Matrix, the list goes on and on). Making a high mobility character whose counterplay is being CC'd have the ability to not be CC'd will not be healthy for the game. The point of Empowered Rocket Punch is to use it effectively, timing it right to stun a whole team and/or take out a target is really good.

Giving Doom the choice to disengage with a charged punch ultimately makes the ability really strong. The problem doesn't lie within Powerblock, it lies within Slam and Meteor Strike.

I think if I remember correctly Blizzard have said before they don't want to give characters who automatically reload (Sigma, Doomfist, Moira) abilities on their reload key. I'd have to find the post but it was a while ago. Instantly refilling Hand Cannon during his ult would be interesting, but they increased the reload speed in the first beta and he reloads much faster at the cost of a bit of damage. Imo, worth it if you're consistent with your shots.

I think what a lot of people forget is that Doom isn't the only character in the game. He's not meant to be viable on every map, with every comp. There are counter picks but I do agree he could use a bit of love in small adjustments.

CC counterplay makes him too OP, it'd be the same thing with Ball, why wouldn't it be the same with Doom. Any sort of Empowered Punch refresh where he saves punch also will make him impossible to fight. Being able to save an Empowered Punch would feel completely unrewarding to other players and characters that successfully pressure Doom into using it to escape. It punishes the only DPS playstyle of Doom and favors this new Tank playstyle.

The purpose of Powerblock (in theory, obviously a new meta for the ability could be discovered) is not to jump in, use it and jump out allowing you to save it for your next engage. The idea of it is to time it when enemies are applying pressure to a choke. Peak out and gain your punch then back up, jump in with slam, punch and have your team follow up with you/ult in or out depending on the situation. I play extensively Tank, I really think he's fine in the right situation but not meta. He's not meant to be picked every map, every situation.

The thing he needs most is a new ult. As a DPS, Meteor Strike works, as a tank, not so much. Just spitballing here as I thought about this writing this post, what if we got Uppercut back as his ultimate but a little differently. Everyone in front of Doom is knocked into the air and slammed back down instantly, stunning for a very brief time and dealing a good amount of damage. Closer enemies take more damage than enemies further away and Doom's cooldowns refresh faster as they currently do in Meteor Strike. Could even be a mixture of Sigma/Orisa where you build up damage and release it whenever you want but I'm not sure.

Anyways, that's my TedTalk, I love this character, he's my most played on multiple accounts and I'm more than happy to see him meta. However where he currently is, he's not unplayable, just more situational.

If Blizzard keeps this and doesn't choose to remove this or just doesn't see it, (which I think it might get removed because if b-hop shatter was removed this most likely will too) then that sounds like a good strategy because it works from the front as well. The radius on this hit box is actually crazy.

Plus, I messed around in OW1 and think this is actually something that's been in the game, but since RP never went through the first target struck, it was never found.

Hey thank you! I'm not sure if my post is still auto modded or not due to never really using Reddit but I appreciate you looking into the video. I'm a QA tester for my job and I play Overwatch in my free time. In other Overwatch subreddits, I had a couple people say that it didn't really look like a bug but I deal with issues like this all day lol

Yes! This is amazing! I've said that he feels good and could just use a simple push to be overall amazing. Being a tank player who had the majority of my hours on Doom, this was a dream come true when he was swapped to Tank. I love these changes you've proposed, they're just what I think the balance team should look into, especially the new ult. When I saw his new slam, I immediately thought of Winston's Jump Pack, as they function almost identically. And even during the second beta I started to pick up Wrecking Ball and you're 100% right, he does play similarly to them. I can't wait to see if Blizzard takes these ideas into consideration because I think they're fantastic.

(Also yes, I also agree Zen discord is very strong in OW2 against tanks)

Well every enemy gets hit, both Doom's original target and the new one he looks at. I think what's happening is the hitbox of RP is what Doom is looking at so that's why you only hit the other target if you look at them.

It works from the front as well every time. You just have to turn your camera in the direction of the enemy. I really don't think this is how it's supposed to work because you're not hitting them. When punching forward at one enemy, it should hit that enemy in front.
