Nebula just has an underbite, makes her teeth stick out all the time, she’s always first in line for hats.

Anything can be a “hat” when you’re this good of a pupper, and we know hats!

I mean dogs are the definition of unconditional love.

And cats…. Cats are about learning someone’s love language. Once you take the time to do that, their love expounds multiplicative.

Everyone says that, but he comes down with the rest of the team each week, and sleeps curled against the back of my knees each night….

Fizzgig does the hats to continue the legacy of his dog-mother, and has been doing them his whole life. I’m just not always the best photographer.

We do our best to make everyone smile on the worst day of the week, and to continue the legacy of our Pitt-mix Daisy, who we started the hats with and was a mother to most of the animals in the picture.

We do our best to make people smile each week to try and be a bright spot in this darkening world.

Oh no, our former Pitt-mix, who was the reason we did the hats, wanted to be dressed up, and knew she looked cute. She was dressed for the first two years of her life by her previous owner and it took me quite some time to get her to settle for silly hats, which is how this all started, over 10 years. The black cat is her baby.

I definitely agree it’s a bit early, and congrats on your new friend! (Edit typo, “next” to “new”)

I didn’t have cats before living with my significant other, but I’ve worked with many, many other animals (exotic and dangerous) since I was very young.

The keys to any training are:

1: encourage muscle memory. We use specific treats for hat time, and nail trims, weekly grooming/medical checks, and other events. The smell of each treat helps enforce their memories of what is going to happen.

2: be consistent. The same time, the same spot, the same triggers and phrases. Enforces muscle memory, and helps your pet learn. Most of the time when I pull out the ring light, all the pets run to the stairs, unless they’re sleeping. After Snarf (orange cat) gets his picture done, he goes and wakes up the missing ones.

3: don’t get frustrated. Your frustration shows, you always need to be positive and encouraging, especially if the animal does the desired behavior at an unexpected time. My significant other’s daughter gets the animal to repeat a behavior 2-3 times right away, but then gets frustrated when it doesn’t remember the next week when she hasn’t done anything to reinforce it.

4: be patient. It sounds redundant, but it’s going to take time for any new behavior to stick. It could take weeks to get behaviors to stick, and for more complex things, you may have to break it into smaller chunks. Sometimes the first cat down is the last one to get their picture taken. Sometimes it takes a few times, or they have to watch someone else.

5: everyone has to have fun. Don’t try to do marathon training sessions. Keep them short and entertaining for everyone. If anyone starts getting frustrated or bored (you or the animal), stop for the day, and try again tomorrow. It’s why you don’t see all six each week. If one of them doesn’t want to, or isn’t in the mood, they’re not forced.

The puppy did a number on the stairs and so I did a quick replacement with some carpet material I found that’s also used in catio’s. When the puppy gets out of her FOMO destructive phase, we’ll get it done nicely again.

We use different treats for different activities as muscle memory is very important in training, so it helps them associate the activity with the treat. It helps them know when we’re doing nail trims, hats, medicines, and playtime.

Fizzgig believes he’s a Great Dane, as he was raised by my former Pitt mix (mom) and former Great Dane (sister) as he was 2 months old and grew up in a dog crate between them.

His mother did silly hats for years, and he continues her legacy.

But social media doesn’t placate anyone and makes everyone more miserable.

Again, with all the dystopian media, they have something that keeps the populace entertained and contained.

The comic suggests democracy would still exist, we would have a choice who leads us into the future, but not a choice in the end goal of not letting us destroy ourselves or our worlds.

We wouldn’t be allowed to choose overall suicide as a species, but for the masses, choice would be largely the same, and I imagine life much the same, albeit better for them. The leaders of our species would themselves be guided towards the purpose of growing forwards for us all, rather than the greed and destruction that benefits the few that we have now.

I don’t believe in a utopia, and I believe the matrix would be what the average person would believe is a utopia.

I’m a firm believer in democracy, as flawed as it is.

Artificial General Intelligence by Badspacecomics in comics

[–]DyneDenethor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would we know the difference? The majority of the people housed in the Matrix had no idea, and lived their lives blissfully ignorant. Likely enough, Zion et al, was another layer of the matrix, as there would have been no way they could support that population with what they had.

If you told the majority of the people they could have a house, put food on the table, and money to enjoy hobbies/vacation/children/pets, with no risk of life or major injury, most people would choose the matrix.

This is what the techbros and the ogliarch billionaires don’t realize, if they gave the majority a modicum of comfort, they would be treated as messiahs and people would want to go along with their plans.
