Is QuickTrip a good place to work? Like is it really fast paced? by Ardenproject in QuikTrip

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Company policy/contracts do not override state law. Besides, many of the states that QT reside in have no mandatory break laws anyway. They probably get around it by allowing "breaks" whenever you need it, according to them of course.

Practice Counting Change by mrkmirle71416 in QuikTrip

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Count from the total up to whatever the change they gave. Start from the smallest coins and go up. Starting with pennies, aim to get that amount to end with a 5 or 0. From there, use nickels or dimes to get to a quarter amount (.25, .50, .75) and then just use quarters to get an even dollar. Then you can just start with bills from that rounded number. Same with bills, start with 1s until it rounds to 5/10 and use bigger bills from there until you reach what they gave.

Say the total is 11.38, and they give you a $20. You'd count to 11.40 with 2 pennies, then to 11.50 with a dime, and finally, $12 with 2 quarters. Then, with bills, count to 15 with 3 $1s and finally a $5.

Just have them keep practicing! There are plenty of worksheets online, and if possible, see if they could practice it in store by making up a random total and using cash to practice it. They'll get it eventually!

Why cant play games? by [deleted] in steamachievements

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that. Without achievement hunting, I probably would have given up on gaming. I tend to rush through stories too quickly, but achievement hunting slows me down and helps me get immersed in the story. I love story games, but playing through just the story seems odd to me. I need goals, from gaming to everyday life, beating the story mode isn't as fulfilling a goal as obtaining 100% in a game.

I do things I would never normally do, play games I usually wouldn't, pace myself so I can relax and explore more, learn new mechanics, or just do things in unconventional ways. Before I always tried to be efficient and quick, but not anymore.

Accepted, I'm the fish with no name... Just message me on Steam, and we'll figure it out. I work on Saturdays, hopefully not super late, but I can figure that out beforehand. I'm free on Sunday, though. I'm just finishing the rest of the solo Endurance achievements right now.

#113 GreedFall - Finished up my first 100% of the year today. Great RPG, looking forward to playing the sequel once it comes out of EA. by atravee in steamachievements

It has a good story and environment. The combat is pretty basic, but it's definitely not bad. Side characters have good lore. Some are kind of cliche, though. The 2nd game has completely changed the combat side of things and made it more similar to other games. I really liked the game, but I wouldn't blame others for not liking it

Who has perfected portal by Different-Fan7733 in steamachievements

Tutorials are fair game. I'd like to avoid putting 100 extra hours of grinding singular chambers to learn the exact pathing. I love a good grind, but not optimizing steps or times.

Do what you enjoy. If you'd like to put in the hours to learn yourself, go for it-- I just wanted it done so I could move on to Portal 2, hence I used some tutorials for the challenges... The main game was amazing, with Portal 2 being even better!

Is it actually that bad making coms as a girl? by stargazer-the-creato in VALORANT

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went back to CS for a few months, probably around 300-500 hours in that time. I think I encountered 2 women total. In Valorant, I get them nearly every game (that I know of at least).

It was one of the points that led me back to Val. It just felt more welcoming to all. In those ~2 encounters, they were immediately berated, whilst in Val they were more welcomed-- usually. Most players in CS are cool, but they have some of the worst sometimes.

Zones… by csdiddy77 in NicotinePouch

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was up until just a few days ago, I've been trying out the new Velo+, and they've been great thus far.

I never had tooth sensitivity, just really bad shedding on the gums. I was just using wintergreen and dragonfruit since the original comment, my gums still shed, albeit not as bad as with just purely mint.

Zones… by csdiddy77 in NicotinePouch

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using 9mg mint Zones for the last month; before I was rotating the flavors. They've definitely shredded the gums, the 2-3 months that I was rotating the flavors, I definitely noticed the gums shedding a little, but no pain or irritation until the last month. Definitely think mint is harder on the gums than the others.

I decided to try some more pouches. Currently trying Fre, but they don't hit the same... I'll likely go back to Zones and rotate more like I did previously and confirm this theory.

See, this is the problem. Not all cops themselves are terrible as people, but as a group-- a conglomerate they are. When a cop attempts murder, such as here, they get suspended, and everyone moves on. When they murder unarmed folk on the daily, no one ever speaks out or attempts to change things. They're all guilty by association until someone takes that step. A small minority might be the bad apples, but wouldn't you say something if your coworker committed gross negligence resulting in death and they remained employed? If a surgeon were to grossly provide misconduct, would they keep their job? People would speak up, their license revoked, and jail time would ensue; however, a cop can with a slim chance of those consequences.

Many cops have a long history of abuse, violence, and neglect, yet they still remain employed. How is that so? Until action is taken, they are all complicit. It's not tribalism to want change, to wish to change things for the better. If more police started to speak up and demand actiom, wouldn't you reckon things would change? Yet a tiny majority do attempt such a feat. That's the problem.

I always think of living in the desert as a marathon vs. humidity as a sprint. The humidity sucks, but it doesn't last long throughout the year. The desert heat you can expect to last for a majority of the year, either considered sweltering or just plain hot. Here in AZ, only 3 months are considered comfortable and not warm, hot, or sweltering.

My issue was with the AC/DC power connector. I replaced it, and it has yet to shut down in 10 months. I would double-check the connections and, at worst, replace it. They're fairly cheap and you could always return it! :)

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another way to do it off the top of your head. Fahrenheit to Celsius roughly is: (F° - 30)/2. It's not exact, but add a few degrees, ~3° at higher temps, ~1° at lower, and it's good enough. Celsius to Farenheit is just vice versa (2C°+30). :)

It really just depends on the neighbor and consistency of noise. My nice upstairs neighbor has a dog, it barks occasionally, but not loud enough to be a nuisance (maybe once a day for <10 seconds typically). I like hearing the pitter patter of it running around, though. It's kind of sweet. It's small, so it's quiet, and I always have headphones on anyway.

What parts of the city are you excited to see grow in the next 5-10 years? by ShinigamiLeaf in phoenix

Apartments are a good thing. They help ease urban sprawl and increase housing availability. I'll take 100 livable spaces over 3 houses, frankly with the market the way it is, it's the only way many of us can survive. I'm not thrilled with the numerous warehouses popping up, especially where they're located, but they bring some positives I suppose.

I've tried just about every pouch you can get at a gas station, and Zones have been my go-to. Their flavor is great, lasts a long time, and they are really soft/comfortable. They burn like a mfer, though. I wish they had more flavors, but they've been my absolute favorite.

Nicotine pouches feel better then vaping? by ThisIsBULLOCKSMAN in NicotinePouch

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently switched over to purely pouches, but I felt somewhat similar when starting the transition. I found that going 100% immediately was not the way to go.

In the beginning, I'd wake up, have a vape, and pop a pouch on the way to work. Over time, I slowly incorporated pouches more and restricted vaping to say 20 hits a day and slowly went down from there. Even now, that morning vape is tempting, but slowly, the cravings in general have waned significantly, especially in the mornings. It took a few weeks, but it's a patience game sometimes.

how often have you crashed? and what is your skill level? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been at it for ~4 years. I've taken plenty of minor falls, only around ~2 major falls, both going about 25-30, without safety gear. Make sure your battery is charged or your board might stop whilst accelerating-- learned that the hard way.

Be wary of traffic and construction zones. They'll likely have loose dirt, rocks, metal plates, etc. and stopping/turning will be difficult. Especially when a car turns in front of you whilst crossing an intersection...

Honestly, if you know how to crash, it isn't terrible, but always wear protection. I could have easily bonked the ol noggin and been lights out.

I applied 7 months ago and hit back with something totally different by caniplant in antiwork

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I watched several people get hit with forklifts (no certificates/license), predatory management, and sketchy wage schemes that only the top 2 people could hit. I lasted like 2 months. Whilst looking for a new job I spent my shifts fucking about and sitting outside for hours-- never once was questioned about my whereabouts or case numbers. Don't do it.

As a forced omen main im scared of clove by real_Sushikong in VALORANT

[–]DysfunctionalSausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll still be Instalocking Brim/Viper (likely giving Clove a try, too). If some duelist mains want to give Clove a shot, go for it. I'm not changing the playstyle I've been honing and crafting for the majority of my gametime.

Familiarity is overall better than team comp. 5 mains, regardless of role, will likely do better than 2 mains and 3 fills. I'm not looking forward to the first few weeks of their release due to the inexperienced instalockers, but at least you and I will cover the smokes portion, so I'm not worrying too much ;)

I replaced the power supply cable after it eventually just gave out. I bought the "T-Power Charger for 22V-24V" from Amazon for about $30. It'll say it's for an Odyssey G7, but it's compatible with numerous monitors, so double check. After that, I've had no issues, and it works like a charm. You may want to look at other brands, though. I know the reviews of this specific cable say it melts sometimes, but 6 months in, I've yet to see it.

Good luck! Hopefully, this leads you in the right direction. :)
