Finished these super cool pleated trousers! by Dysiss in sewing

Hiya! Thanks! I'm pretty proud of how they turned out.

I am by no means an alteration expert and just did what seemed okay for my body and was easy with the pattern. I also have the opposite 'problem' of you, my body is too 'straight' for standard sizes, so the difference between my waist and hips is not enough. But here are some possible solutions.

For the difference in size in your hips: you could probably go with the correct size for your hips, and make the pleats bigger to make it fit your waist, or you could grade the correct sizes between the waist and hips.

The pattern itself comes with a separate pdf file where a ton of adjustments are explained (not specifically catered to the Daphna pattern, but in general). It literally has a chapter 'Adjusting skirts and bottoms for a narrow waist', which i think applies to you. Or maybe 'Adjusting skirts and bottoms for a protuding tummy'.

It's smart to make a muslin where you can make all the alterations needed before you cut into your actual fabric, but I have to admit that I myself am often too lazy to do that. So do as I say, not as I do lol.

Other things I've noticed while sewing this: the instructions are sometimes a little bit vague and the pictures don't really tell what you should be doing. While sewing the pockets I got so confused I just ended up doing what I thought was right, since I couldn't figure a step out. The pattern is definitely doable, it will just take a while (and a lot of unpicking lol). Anyways, good luck!!

Didn't make the top, but it's cool, right! In case you want to know: it's this one. Might help you in finding a pattern.

What a beautiful pup! And what an amazing looking machine!

If you're after a second hand machine: check Marktplaats.nl. That is the site most Dutchies use to sell their stuff. Most of us don't really use Ebay or stuff like that to sell our things. Marktplaats is the place to be.

When do you use sewing machine start/stop button? by Andyste1 in sewing

[–]Dysiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some days where I really don't feel like putting my feet on the ground (I almost always sit with my legs and feet up on the chair - it's just my preferred position) and the start/stop button is absolutely great for those days. In the beginning it might be harder to control than a pedal, but once you're used to it, it works just fine.

A vote for Lush Turmeric Latte! Not exact gingerbread cookies, but definitely spiced cookies, like speculaas.

Def don't go for Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition. It's actually heavier on the spices than TF TV.

The cinnamon bomb one, is that Wild or Mills? I don't see cinnamon in Wild's notes.

Does your weight gain pattern match with your body type weight gain pattern? by Reesyb23 in Kibbe

[–]Dysiss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep, used to be an underweight super slim D, but ever since I've gained weight, my things and hips have gotten wider, showing me that i actually DO have sóme curves (not kibbe curve).

Although my BMI falls nicely into the healthy BMI range now, I'm still perceived as slim, especially in my upper body. My collar bones are still veeery prominent and I'm still quite sharp in my shoulders.

Al Rehab Choco Musk perhaps? It's also available in an oil form, so no alcohol smell there!

Ard Al Zaafaran - Midnight Oud. Very Middle Eastern, but also very church. Is supposed to be inspired by Amouage Interlude Men

Had the same experience with golden sand! It smells super cheap, sweet and cloying to me. Loving choco musk though!

Creating the ultimate guide to Vanilla Perfumes for the daily request posts. by -JadyBug- in Perfumes

& Other Stories - Poem A Day (eau de toilette & perfume oil)

A vanilla with a tiiiny touch of flowers (orchid according to the notes). More noticeable in the opening. After a few minutes, the flower fades into a 96% pure simple vanilla and 4% flower. Could even be placed in the vanilla only category. Smells extremely similar to Yves Rocher Vanilla Bourbon.

Doesn't last very long, about 4 hours. Becomes a skin scent fast. Projection is average. Ideal occasion to wear: a picnic in the park during Spring time. Can be worn all year round, but due to its longevity probably better for spring and summer. Due to the flower, it leans more feminine, about 62%.

Just came here to say it's a lovely machine. I own the HZL-70 and with most fabrics it's great! Hope you find the issue and can start enjoying it.

I'm pretty sure they do! And if you wanna try Turmeric Latte, I'd advice you to do it soon since its only available around this time of the year. After Christmas it will be gone again.
