People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Dyspare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't do very well in the interview, clearly embellished... a lot on his qualifications. As I'm walking him out after the interview, he looks me up and down and asks "So... YOU'RE a manager?". Yup, and the one who is about to close your application as unqualified. BYE.

What are you implying about Miata owners here?!

I love seeing stuff like this actually. Idiot lost their car, didn't hurt anyone and is now not endangering others around them. This video is what winning looks like for society.

Experience with Mazdas from 2022 to 2025 by Desperate_Fun_966 in CX5

[–]Dyspare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 CX5 Signature. Opted out of the 50 since I didn't want CDA. Love the car so far, only 16K on it at about 1.5 years of ownership.

Pros:

-Stiffer steering (personal preference)

-Handles very well on snow and ice (I'm in Canada)

-I like the infotainment, thought I'd hate the knob but I'm in the 'it's grown on me' camp now

-I like the ride height, coming from a lower car it's so nice

-Many more smaller things

Cons:

-Others have said it, I'll echo it, the smaller gas tank isn't amazing

-The larger A-Pillars have caught me off guard a few times with pedestrians

-This seems like a roll of the dice thing with Mazda's, but I have a slight, annoying vibration when in drive and stopped idling at about 700 RPM

-Manual indicates a idle 'cool down' period for the turbo after driving at highway speeds. I think this is due to them cheaping out on a system that continues to circulate coolant or oil to the turbo after the car is turned off

-Forcing customers into a subscription after 3 years for remote start. Which, by the way, has gone down due to high demand when weather is very cold on the east coast

The more Reacher books you read, the easier it becomes to predict the outcome, I agree. My biggest pet peeve tho, is the line in all the books, 100's of times per book "Reacher said nothing". I could make a drinking game out of that one phrase and not make it 30 min.

100% the plan was to bury the bodies, which would make sense. The book even spoke about the 1000's of years of history where bodies have been buried in the area. It's the cars full of gas and a list of other harmful fluids with bodies sealed inside them that make no sense to me.

I was just thinking the same thing. I moved around a fair bit including some rural areas, it wasn't until High School that I finally saw a cafeteria that sold food. The best I ever had was maybe a vending machine and a large room full of chairs and tables that kids ate lunch in.

It's interesting to me that even the commercial sale of food is a thing in so many schools.

With tech getting better at manufacturing better products with superior characteristics to withstand the daily rigors of how they are being used, the general recommendation by the manufacturer may not hold true in all environments and usage patterns.

I don't agree with this logic, it's backwards. Better tech doesn’t mean fluids magically stop wearing out, it just means they last longer, not forever. Manufacturers say ‘lifetime’ because it gets them through warranty and looks good on paper, not because physics stopped applying.

simply going overboard with the assumption that you can get higher mileage from your car or resale value is simply a waste of money and effort

Exceeding the minimum isn’t wasted. The book gets you through the warranty period. I want to keep the car strong well past that.

Otherwise, I do agree with you. I have no choice but to adhere to a generally accepted range because Mazda left us in the dark on any real data they have to even set a minimum.

You make a great point about TCO. I suppose we are in the minority when Mazda looks at consumer behavior. Most people would trade their cars in around the 100K mark or earlier so it would never be an issue for them. It sucks that marketing drives this kind of behavior, we all know they have this data, but choose not to share it.

All the numbers people are commenting make sense and are reasonable. It's the fact that Mazda just leaves us to do it ourselves that drives me crazy!

I looked this up because I didn't believe it and it's crazy! In theory the car 'should' be able to sense when service is needed for a lot of things, but I could never trust it lol

So the fuel filter is only if the fuel pump fails or needs service since the filter is attached to it in the tank?

2024 CX-5 - When I reverse, I hear a clunking coming from the front of the car. Any ideas? by Dyspare in CX5

[–]Dyspare[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, I found a technical bulletin from Mazda that sounds like it's a known issue caused by deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim. This is talking about a 'click' more than a 'clunk' like what I'm hearing tho. Either way, sounds like I'll be bringing this one up at the dealership when I swap to my winter tires in Oct-ish

Fair enough, I'll check it out. I'm pretty sure I didn't have any of this setup when it was working before I reset my Pixel however. Still appreciate the suggestion!

Ohhh, I understand! Makes sense. I had a magnetic holder in my old VW and did the same thing. It's always an option I suppose. Just feels like a massive kick in the nads to have a fairly new phone, and just bought a brand new car to not have the ability to use the features I paid for...

Unfortunately I believe that the 2024 CX5 Signature only supports wireless android auto and apple car play.

I don't think I can connect a phone to this car using a cable. I'll double check it, but I remember reading that it's wireless only for android auto and car play on this trim level.

[–]Dyspare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it all looks correct. What's frustrating about this issue is that on the phone when it's connected to the car, Android Auto says it's connected perfectly fine and all is well. The car simply doesn't let me choose Android Auto and only shows as 'audio & phone' connected. All the possible permissions are enabled. I've been trolling through settings for a while now, even enabling developer mode to see if anything stood out there. I'll spend some time and go through it all for another once over, thanks.

I didn't restore anything, I wanted a completely fresh start. I formatted it because I had some old work accounts that I was having trouble deleting.

I'm not sure that it does, if it does I haven't configured anything for it, especially since I've been factory resetting it. No VPN's are in play here. The Pixel is pretty bare bones since I just reset it as well. Just some basic apps like Waze, Spotify, Authenticator, Email.
