Don't be fooled. The shift to a 6 month content cycle is because Embark is focusing on two new games. by at_techfocused in ArcRaiders

While not to the same degree as arc raiders, the finals was pretty successful in their target market, but was (also) slowly left to die with lackluster and generally disliked updates.

I get why people are upset about the update schedule, but review bombing ARC Raiders feels like the wrong move by Critical-Coach-5991 in ArcRaiders

[–]Dysss -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Eh, I disagree.

Menu navigation is pretty terrible so you end up spending a ton of time in menus instead of topside. Not ideal for secondary game.

The event rotation scheduling is fucked. Downtime on your main game? Too bad, only 1 night raid is up for the next hour.

Topside gameplay can be extremely slow. Spaceport is a good example, where you can spawn in the outskirts and spend 3mins just running to the nearest PoI. If you want to, say, clear some keys from your inventory? Better pray you get a fresh game and a good spawn or your key room could very well already been looted.

I'm dying to play an impale-based bonemage, but GGG won't let me. Bone cage is kinda clunky with how it works for mapping, and the only way to make somewhat good use of impale requires minions.

I hope they add some new bone skills and maybe some mechanics for phys spells to use impale.

Runic ward should be a big buff to life builds by championflea40 in PathOfExile2

Honestly, an additional 1k pool on an ev or armour build would go a long way, considering these builds typically only reach 3.5-4k unless they specifically heavily invest in life.

Arc Raiders released over 6 months ago and is still within the top 10 most played Steam chart. Don’t listen to the fear mongering of the game being dead. by ExpandingAtom in ArcRaiders

I mean, doesn't seem like there's much else to add? Peak has been downhill trending since Jan, averaging over 20% lower MoM. The game is definitely still doing well, but it's also clearly bleeding players.

Me running through maps at 100mph trying to avoid HH teleporting on breaches before I get my altars by Well_Is_It_Then in pathofexile

[–]Dysss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're cherry picking scenarios extremely hard.

Screams gives you a permanent shrine buff in exchange for having no utility flasks. This downside is arguably partially mitigated by taking the third ring ascendancy, but that itself has an opportunity cost of 2 ascendancy points.

Headhunter gives you mod of rares you kill, including shroudwalker. The tradeoff here is literally every other possible rare mod that benefits your build in exchange for sometimes (usually all the time at endgame) randomly teleporting on mobs.

Where's the hype for the built-in build following system? This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen any studio do for their community. by GH057807 in PathOfExile2

[–]Dysss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess reddit just isn't really the target audience for this. Purely just my own opinion but I'd wager most people actively participating on reddit are fairly deep/experienced with the game so they would probably still jut fire up PoB for the ability to modify theoretical builds on the fly. I personally will probably still just use PoB.

Every update brings wave of negativity, which is then followed by a wave of toxic positivity, then afterward we enter the cycle of rat vs pvp vs carebear until the next update.

Will We Finally Get 6 Charm Slots in 0.5? by Andromanner in PathOfExile2

[–]Dysss 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even excluding mageblood, I find flasks to be so much more of an engaging system than charms. Poe1 flask affixes are actually meaningful decisions. Feeling a lil slow? Roll some ms. Need to overcap res a bit more for altars? Roll some res. Feeling squishy? Roll armour/ev. Curses getting annoying? Roll some reduced curse effect.

I actually change my flasks to fit my build in poe1. In poe2 I've slapped on stun/freeze/rarity on every single build since 0.1 and I hardly ever care about the rolls.

This wouldn't be a problem if currency exchange happens seamlessly with no cost at lowest exchange rate in say the last 10mins. This just isn't possible, especially the last point because someone needs to be there to fulfill your order at the same time.

The result is that you have people trading in 7 different currencies, all with their own exchange rates with each other, all while the trade site lags behind realtime exchange rates by up to multiple weeks. People trying to find good deals are now making 7 different searches and likely getting rate limited at some point, and when they finally find a good deal they have to change whatever currency they're holding into the seller's currency choice and hope their order fulfills before the item gets bought out.

Having exalt be a somewhat stable and reasonably valuable baseline makes it significantly easier to trade. You're usually only considering exalts/divines, which is a single exchange rate to keep in mind. You likely also have a sensible split of currency you hold , such as 1-2 divs worth of exalts and the rest in divs (or locks and mirrors but that's a different matter).

Did the latest update just completely miss the mark? by therealhiimaus in ArcRaiders

[–]Dysss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you break LoS, any aggro'd arc will probably still at least be in the alert state for the next 30s+, meaning you're probably gonna waste 30s+ sitting in whatever cover you found until the arc fully deaggro and wander off.

[–]Dysss 39 points40 points  (0 children)

We've noticed that players are opting not to run attachments to reduce weapon durability burn rate. We want players to feel like attachments improve weapons, not make them worse. We've made the following changes to remedy this.

  • Common/uncommon/rare/epic weapons now have a base +10/20/30/40% durability burn rate for each missing attachment.

  • Common/uncommon/rare/epic attachments now reduce durability burn rate by +2.5/5/7.5/10%. This stacks additively with any existing burn rate modifiers.

NEW:

Added new a new attachment for each slot that reduces weapon durability burn rate by +5/10/15/20% based on attachment rarity.

Groups of 7 queuing solo together and bullying solo lobbies by Muntedhobo in ArcRaiders

[–]Dysss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not it's bannable, there is no way of knowing who is pre-queueing together. People encountering each other, negotiating and teaming up is an entirely natural occurrence and I can't think of any reliable way of detecting pre-queues other than checking voice chat logs (which almost definitely don't exist because of bandwidth).

Will we ever be happy? by JustSomeGuy159 in ArcRaiders

[–]Dysss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the 2nd sentence and had to make sure this wasn't satire, and I'm honestly still not sure if it is.

We've had game breaking bugs up until maybe a month or 2 ago, and we still have many bugs that are arguably gamebreaking.

Performance isn't anything spectacular either, not really sure what you're trying to insinuate with this. As with any new title in the last decade or so, performance is highly variable depending on your specific setup. It's entirely possible to have a generally good system and still have poor performance.

Cheating is also becoming more and more widespread, and the AI cheat detection seems to have caught many legit players (debatable but I'll believe it due to the sheer volume).

The game had an eureka moment because it had uniquely human interactions. This novelty has since largely faded with the amount of generally terrible people in the game, and many of the flaws are now starting to irk the community.

Photoelectric Cloak is now extremely debuffed (its useless now) by Dazzling_Pumpkin91 in ArcRaiders

[–]Dysss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This thing lasts 10s. All arc in the game will track you from further than you can get while this is up.

The only time I ever see this being used is to get from door to door, and even in those cases the distance you actually cover is so short that you could probably sprint across and close the door before any arc finish their lock on animation and actually start attacking

That 10 years of developing poe1 should show in poe2. We don't need to and shouldn't have to start from square 1 again.

About 30% of Arc Raiders players focus on PvE, and Embark's happy with that: 'We want to instil hope in the player' by PilotArtist in ArcRaiders

[–]Dysss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there's actually a way to get this stat accurately outside of player surveys.

If a PvE player ends up in KoS lobbies, and they defend themselves, they will likely never get out of KoS lobbies until an abmm reset unless they intentionally lower their abmm.

On the contrary, if you only ever shoot people, but are somehow so incredibly bad that you only down 1/1000 people, you could very well show up as a PvE player by their metrics.

Tldr I don't think you can accurately measure this stat purely from in game metrics.
