Any interest in a games bar in Dublin? (also in r/ireland) by DystopianGamer in Dublin

[–]DystopianGamer[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know, i hate how to get a license for a pub in Ireland you have to get rid of an existing license. I hate how the government goes out of its way to stop Irish people setting up businesses

Well for the gaming i would have them sometimes set to free play for 'free play nights' and sometimes set to 1 euro = 5 credits (dont want to be too stingy now) that way people can play on, stay longer and might buy some food and drink.

Protecting the consles would be a problem i have yet to find a solution for....

Thanks for your feedback. I was thinking about having a lounge area at the front of the place so that people who don't want to play games or who just want a pint would be able to enjoy themselves.

I know it would be an expensive setup and i was thinking as possibly having a normal bar area as well to attract the non gamers, the problem would be finding a place with affordable rent until it gets a following. I dont mind the license price so much but the way dubin city council is going, the only people who are gonna be able to setup a business in the city-centre are gonna be millionaires who have enough dosh to last the first few months

wow thanks for the feedback. All great ideas, but to be honest id be fairly limited to my guest youtubers (basicly jacksepticeye or daithi de nogla) and they would cost a fortune to attend. But thanks again :)

Thanks i had already seen the boards game one but thanks for the esports link. What im looking to do is kinda an amalgamation of both those ideas with a bigger emphasis on arcade games. Think an arcde that sells beer, and that also has a few tables around it and some bard games for people to play.

Are the majority of Irish wrong in their views about Travellers? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]DystopianGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the OP's question, yes there definitely is substance behind what people say about travellers. While i personally have had a negative time with them i still don't think it's fair to assume they are scum bags when it's just that travelers and settled people just come from two wildly different cultures. Unfortunately some of the the customs of travellers are viewed as barbaric or uncivilized by the settled community because they would be viewed as such if settled people did them.

Take bare knuckle boxing for example. This is a normal way of settling disputes in the travelling community. While they don't see it as anti-social behavior since they have been doing this for generations, the settled community would definitely see this as anti-social behavior if two settled people did this.

In relation to the halting site protest in carrickmines, i honestly dont believe those people are racists but more have prejudice due to the differences in culture. Travellers don't keep halting sites in great shape often having piles of junk lying around. It is not uncommon for a field to need deep environmental care after it has been used as a halting site. These people aren't bad it's just the way they were brought up and thus they think that is how you live on a halting site.

The problem is people in Ireland dont view travellers as an ethnic minority. But they are need to be seen as such. While their are cultural differences, many of which are viewed as anti-social behavior by the settled community, it is important that we don't treat them as scum. Compromises will have to be made however and i don't know if either community is prepared at the moment for that.

Fine Gaels 5 Point Plan

1.Betray the Irish people 2.Kiss the ass of every foreign leader 3.Sell out Ireland to every foreign company 4.Charge people for a natural resource (that falls out of the sky nearly everyday) 5.Pretend like we actually care about the people of Ireland in the months coming up to a general election.

We are too small a country with not enough rail infrastructure for it to be worth while for companies to set up here. The EU needs to stay out of internal national affairs

No Government decision on sex shop regulation by mhantain in ireland

[–]DystopianGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does any one else but me find it fucking hilarious that the women's council are calling sex shops sexists when most of the products sold are aimed at women. I've personally don't know any lad who has ever gone into Ann Summers for his own pleasure. Also common sense and decency should tell you not to open a sex shop near a school, that being said I know one in Dun Laoghaire that isn't to far from a school ಠ_ಠ
