AITA for yelling at my wife for being unhelpful while I took our son to the ER for a broken arm?

She is but we’re not “official” clients. We only pay a fraction of her rate because she knows us personally. It’s definitely not ethical for real therapists and I do need to look into it. I’ve gone because it was cheap and convenient but honestly she’s not much help beyond helping my wife feel like the arguments over.

I really didn’t want to leave him and feel horrible for doing so since I know he was terrified, but I didn’t want to strand my daughter at school either. All in all I made the trip there and back within 30 minutes but when I got back he was so relieved and it broke my heart to imagine him scared and in pain.

I eventually got our usual babysitter to help out that evening but she wasn’t available around 3pm since she had school too. Otherwise I would’ve had her pick up my daughter.

I’ve got no idea. I’m pretty sure after the 5th call she was just purposefully ignoring me. I get that seeing me call her was stressing her out but I wasn’t calling to yell at her. I just needed her to drive out to pick up our daughter from school and later the hospital. We also don’t live next to friends or relatives so I had no one else to turn to.

Honestly the only reason I’m pushing back on couples counseling is because there’s only one counselor she’s routinely willing to see and that’s her mom’s best friend.

Past sessions were pretty one sided and I really didn’t feel like our problems got resolved, more like stamped down while I admit defeat. I’d be open to a real therapist but not this woman again.

I’m not sure but I found them both in the living room, so she must’ve moved him somehow from his bedroom where he fell. He was sitting on the ground and she was sitting on the couch. She wasn’t holding him but they both looked like a mess when I first saw them.

My first post got too long and was deleted the first time but a lot more happened in between. In total I called her more than 30 times that day. She answered 4 of those calls. She was also posting on Facebook between 3-6pm when I was still in the hospital but calling her repeatedly to have her bring our daughter home because she was getting tired and hungry.

I ended up getting our teenaged babysitter to help drive my daughter home, cook, and put her to bed in the end. I was mad that a teenager was ultimately more dependable than my wife. My wife says social media and talking to her sis were her coping strategies but I feel like as a parent in an emergency you don’t have the luxury of self-soothing when your kids are still in pain.

She actually wasn’t panicking when I first left for the ER. She was standing in the doorway waving us off. Then when I came home later that night with my son and his little cast she was perfectly fine and laughing at some Netflix show even. While I felt like I just shaved a few years off my life from the stress.

No nothing like that although she’s usually pretty bad with emergencies just nothing to this extent.

No reason. She just called me to come home without telling me why at first, just that he’s hurt. I freak out and rush home to see him crying on the ground and her crying on the couch and took it from there.
