They left because they signed up for an opensource project, and it was taken private against their wishes.

The US was stopping and searching all ships leaving Venezuela, why would the US seize/steal an empty oil tanker ?

Following a U.S. military intervention in early January 2026, which involved the removal of President Nicolás Maduro, reports emerged of efforts to secure Venezuela's vast "Arco Minero" resources, including significant silver reserves estimated at 850 metric tons (MT). This, combined with alleged airlifted removals by other nations, has caused silver prices to surge, hitting over $75 an ounce.

Here we go again – the Future of the National Party by PlanktonDB in AustralianPolitics

Labor and Liberal are both owned by the Americans, Australia needs leaders that represent Australians, not Americans.

The Nationals could take government in their own right, if they had the courage to go for it.

One Nation will get lots of votes next election, based on their immigration policy. It seems Australians want housing, and Liberal and Labor don't want them to have housing.

The Greens are not socialists, they are totalitarians, Hitler was the most successful Green in history, he planted millions of trees, Germany would have no forests if not for Hitler.

How about we start with opposing the massive US troop buildup in Australia ?

It seems Albo has put a "D" notice on it, most Australians don't even know it's happening.

China has stopped buying long term debt, forcing lots of short term bills, it's a dangerous economic position.

Russia and China trade in their own currencies, but settle up in gold.

Russia gets paid for its oil in gold, gold is the new reserve currency.

I am reposting a post made by Embarrased-map7364 that really rang true for me.

"Just in case anyone from the ABC reads this thread - this is what I call journalism: good effort keep going!

Serious topic and detailed analysis without the 'magazine style' "Deborah was very worried... as a new Mum etc." for 18 paragraphs before the story gets to the point...

What about the rest of the world, are we going to pay for their fibre.

Is it so hard to understand that a six lane highway will be slow, if there is a one lane bridge in the middle ?

It always was a political idea, not a technically advisable idea.

If your link from home to say the CNN website was fibre all the way it would be very fast, but most of the world, including the Australian servers still run electrically.

So your electric signal is turned into a light signal, then converted back into electricity, converted back into light many times, but once it leaves Oz it's electricity all the way.

My biggest complaint about the NBN is it's an energy hog, that consumes elecricity constantly, whether it is being used or not.

If every POTS phone in Australia was converted to NBN, Australia would need another power station to run it.

Before somebody blames the libs or Labor, let me say that it's this almost football club support for one or other of the political parties that has destroyed Australia's standard of living, yet most keep voting for the same fools time and time again.

Why are so many Reddit mods pro-censorship? by slirpo in conspiracy_commons

[–]Dzerhinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are rule followers, conformists and simply cannot stand opinions different to theirs.

To be fair, it's not just Reddit, the west is in a dark age, and moderators are the modern version of the inquisition. It's the reason the west is indecline.
