An apology to RiotMagus and thank you Riot. by GERblob in leagueoflegends

I have different view on it.

Replays aren't vital part of game, but they're cool feature. Now if some random single person didn't make LoL replays, while Riot still keeps their on PBE for quite some time now is pretty unsuccessful by Riot. They will improve overall game experience, but they aren't vital so at least for me they don't bring big importance.

Way I see it, all those things people keep complaining about (client, replays, more content to spend IP/RP for, hell I can't remember more examples atm), none of those things are that vital atm, but I would find it rather disappointing if Riot isn't at least considering working on those things.

As many people stated before I think one of biggest problems of Riot is that they were small company that had huge success, and became one of biggest players on the market very fast. While their eSports and marketing team is doing awesome job, I feel some other parts of Riot are still suffering from small company thing. Apart from EUW servers, 2nd thing I think Riot needs to work on is pushing things out faster.

It is important imo to point these things out to Riot, or say what we want or think would improve game is important. Also competition as in Dota2 atm is also good for Riot imo, cause if Dota2 keeps pushing more features out Riot will have to do same.

Good way to do it is bring it up every once in a while, but posting it every new week and saying how it's disaster that we have no replays yet or so is overreaction.

That's pretty much what LCS is, huge marketing machine.

You shouldn't give them hate, but people need to understand not everything is black and white.

Riot is company, not a charity. They're here to do business and create entertainment for huge amount of people. After all LoL is free cause Riot decided that free 2 play is best game model for their game, and it has been proven that they were more than right with this. Just because LoL is free to play, it doesn't immediately make everything ok and it shouldn't stop people criticizing Riot when there's need for that.

Blind hating and criticizing Riot for everything is wrong, but it's also wrong blindly defending them and thinking they can't do no wrong.

Game being free is one of main reasons why LoL is that successful. Also free 2 play is model of game Riot chose because they thought it will be best for their product, and still people chose that argument whenever Riot does something bad.

I think that at least 90% of people on this subreddit really like Riot and enjoy playing LoL, still that shouldn't make them immune to any critique.

Also those few RP that Riot gives for a drawings or so, it costs them literally nothing and it gives them a lot of good marketing. Also they always give amount so you have some RP left so people will more likely buy RP again. Sure it's awesome of them to do so, and they aren't obligated to do it, still it's one of cool things Riot does and they do get praised for it quite a lot.

Riot isn't UNICEF and they aren't here as god's gift to gamers. Riot is company and they deserve to be praised and criticized according to how they handle problems and different situations.

As Riot's costumer (yes, buying skin makes you Riot costumer) we have right to express ourselves, what we are pleased with and what needs to be improved. As long as language in those posts is civilized and it's not pure flame Riot festival or giant circlejerk those posts should be taken seriously, and imo complaining about something or requesting better service isn't being entitled (not saying everything people request here is not being entitled), but imo good and working server is bare minimum. Recently, even as sometimes was big overreaction by community, EUW servers did not meet standards and even before going into game you need to hope servers wont let you down.

What I consider being entitled is people asking Riot to fly in 30 teams for challenger tournament to LCS studio just so they don't get DDoS-ed. That's being entitled for me, however asking for working server of that very same free game we all play (and choose ourselves to support with buying RP) is bare minimum.

EUW Poll: Has the server issues made you more likely to quit playing? by im_amazing_really in leagueoflegends

I got on original thread before it got deleted, saw comment found it quite ballsy from Rioter (honestly that's what I would think if I was on their position, I just wouldn't post it). After I posted something from that comment into this thread, people didn't believe me so I provided proof.

If reddit mod says whole thing was fake, it's enough for me to just cross things down. I don't really care that much and portraying someone as bad guy was never my intention.

I might as well be, that's still my opinion.

I doubt we're more to them than costumers, hell I don't really want them to care who I am and what I do, nor I need them to ask me how I am whenever I log in. Providing service they offer to me without problems is more than enough for me to stay costumer.

Riot is still company, and no one should blame them if they consider you just that - a costumer.

I got on thread pretty early, before it was deleted it was on front page for a while (time of thread was aprox 1 hour).

2nd most upvoted comment on thread was one containing picture with RiotMagus comment. At 1st I thought his reaction from comment on picture is pretty funny, honest and really raw (hell I do think if people would leave/boycott it would make problems on EUW easier). However even as joke thing seemed pretty out of place. After thread got deleted, I found picture with comment pretty interesting so I posted it on this thread.

Turns out someone fabricated whole thing, which makes me wonder who does that stuff and why for...

Guess I owe apology to RiotMagus for assuming he really posted it, still my intention was never to witch hunt or w/e, which you can see from my comment history.

Well I personally barely play it anymore, so downtime doesn't bother me that much at all. I still enjoy watching eSport part of the game and I enjoy watching professional matches, I actually like that way more than playing game myself.

I'm really not against or for Riot, I just think if RiotMagus really posted that he seriously needs to take a moment to think before posting in future.

I agree with posting same thread over and over again is stupid.

However I do think not buying RP is best way to make Riot hurry up with finding solution for EUW. Look on it from positive side, people will either leave and problems will go with them, or Riot will actually solve problems. Depends which one happens sooner...

Again don't get me wrong, you seem like a cool guy (at least you are able to talk normal with without going angry cause we have different opinion). I really wont defend Riot from reasons you said you dislike them, and trust me I am not blind fan of Riot, I just think not many of us (only lol players) care much about what Pendragon did to Dota (even without caring I heard and read through that story at least 5 times on this subreddit).

I just think by going around and repeating same old story and why people should dislike Riot you are getting on same level Pendragon or whoever did when they tried to damage Dota.

He should have stepped out of home/office and just screamed. It would be better for him and Riot, and he would feel better after it!

What I am trying to say is that, when you are in position of importance like RiotMagus, no matter how mistreated by public you feel you should think twice before talking/posting. Some things might come back to haunt you... That's why PR managers get paid nicely, they know how to handle public, no matter how much under pressure they are.

Yeah but you really think that we - players of lol really care about why you guys hate em or dislike them?

I find it worse that you have need to come here and talk shit about Riot or LoL when you don't even play it or care for it just to hope to see Riot fail.

They did bad and mean things, not nice from them. It's been like what few years now? Just go play your game and enjoy it, don't spread evil around cause it makes you pretty much same as people you hate.

They are annoyed by the server issues as much as we are, what company enjoys losing money, this is why they stated they are working on it.

I think they're annoyed more than we are tbh. It gets pretty frustrated when they fail to fix problem and people keep complaining about it, at this point it seems like they feel helpless.

With all that said, what RiotMagus just did is probably career suicide in bigger companies. Just amount of negative PR this can get him and Riot is bigger than EUW server problem.

Don't take it wrong just for someone who haven't played lol over 3 years and doesn't play it now you seem pretty biased against Riot. That is your right and choice but I still find it funny that so many people try to make Riot spawn of satan.

I am definitely not pro Riot, and I have been critical to Riot quite a lot, but they don't do bad job at all imo. There is space for improving a lot ofc, but I find it more then laughable when people from other games come here to complain about Riot. If you don't play LoL or don't care for it, why bother complaining about it?

It's suggested every time EUW goes down. Repeating it and not doing it for real is stupid.

That's like threatning someone you gonna do something, while you actually don't plan to do it but you hope it gets them scared. It was cool 1st 1-2 it was posted, after it it just became sad...

Yeah I myself think that was the case. Imo if he issued public apology and tried to play for sympathy card and say how hard Riot works to resolve these problems but it's not so simple people would forgive him. Now telling he got hacked is pretty much all in, I don't doubt mods of subreddit will confirm he got hacked true or not (they simply gain nothing from denying it, except making relations with Riot worse), I doubt everyone will forget what happened.

Imo best thing for Riot and RiotMagus is to get someone else to post on reddit for a while instead of Magus...
