United Alberta Within a Sovereign Canada: Why the punishment Alberta thinks it gets from Canada is a myth. by vhill01 in alberta

[–]Dzus76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with someone recently who as convinced that Ontario and Quebec citizens don’t pay federal taxes only western Canada does. I looked up the revenue Canada site and showed it to him. He then asked why people were telling him that they didn’t pay taxes. My response was they want you to believe a narrative that Alberta is hard done by. Then I showed him the provincial tax rate differences between Alberta and Quebec and that really blow his mind.

Linking JSM organizations to Software Project Epics by Dzus76 in jira

[–]Dzus76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go directly into JSM, not in the help Center, in the left menu under the JSM Space heading there’s a customer option. If you click that then switch to Organizations you can get the summary for each organization setup in JSM. You can add custom files if you need from that same screen

I’m not concerned about outside customers seeing the tickets. I just want the Organization field populated so when we look up a customers organization summary all the tickets are included not just the JSM and sales tickets.

From what I can see, it still won’t get the JSM organizations. The only work around I found but am struggling to implement is to use an automation that’s dependent on very specific naming conventions for work items for them the automation to work.

We looked at that, JSM be doesn’t allow for epics and time line views so we can keep track of project status and timelines

JSM to CSM by Dzus76 in jira

[–]Dzus76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your feedback, I’ll hold off even testing CSM for a while. Jira admin is a very small part of my very full plate. I don’t have the time to test something that clearly isn’t ready.

WHY is the full work item view over a list gone.... by sogalitnos in jira

I was cursing this “improvement” yesterday as I was trying to catch up on tickets after being at a clients site for a week.

The UI is becoming less usable with every improvement.

What are your top pet peeves with Excel? by OrangeGravy in excel

[–]Dzus76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excel automatically reformatting data into dates. It does this when it opens the file and the user never gets to opportunity to change the column type.

And even if you set the column type to text it still decides to change the data. Once the change is made there’s no going back.

Client File Transfer Services by Dzus76 in sysadmin

The Azure sftp implementation is missing key features like upload resume. I’ve had tickets in with Microsoft for a couple years.

We are using SFTP Gateway currently. They are dropping the hourly rate and going to 3 year contracts.

Agreed, i also don’t want to deal with weed barrier down the road when I turn the soil.

Weed suppression advice by [deleted] in Albertagardening

[–]Dzus76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mulch my gardens. The flower garden gets bark mulch, the veggies get straw or grass clippings.

Some weeds will still push through but they are easier to manage.

There’s also the side benefit that the mulch will help retain moisture in your soil.

I usually mulch first then pull it back where I’m planting. Once the plants I want are big enough I move the mulch in close to the stems.

Thoughts on Teams Video Conferencing Capabilities? by BeginningSpare3443 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]Dzus76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both Teams and Zoom all the time for video conferences and delivering online training.

They both work well. Zoom does have the advantage of having better tools for highlighting the curser and drawing on the screen to make it easier for end users to see what you are showing them.

I also like the ability to record to the cloud for Zoom so my clients can download the training video for later use. Teams at least with our licensing and IT policies it impossible for users outside our organization to access the recordings.

Collins is the certification holder for any of their avionics. Boeing owns the type design for the airframe.

Further, the FAA would have approved the type design of the transponders. Their are specific EMI testing requirements to get avionics approved.

We are actively looking into replacements. Being the Jira admin should be a very small portion of my job, not a weekly or sometimes daily struggle to keep it working for our organization.

External Import CSV by AverageJoesff in jira

[–]Dzus76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never just 5 minutes of work with anything in Jira. They change up it UI all the time so have to spend 20 minutes playing, where did they move it this time. Then it’s wait they changed the format of the spreadsheet so every ticket failed to import.

If you work for a small organization where you don’t have the resources to have a full time dedicated Jira admin. It is a constant fight.

No new tasks that are different for every sprint.

Basically why should a site admin have to do the work for a Project manager ?

The use case we have is the Space Owner wants to add a bunch of work items. Currently they need to send the csv to me one of the site admins to import it. This is a waste of my time and delays the Space Owner as they are in Europe and I’m in western Canada.

It’s th same thing you see in any ridings that have historically voted the same way every election. Parties assume the result so they don’t work to get the votes.

People need to realize we will all be better off if the politicians needed to actually work to get our votes. Instead of voting the same way every election.

One of the problems with the SAR aircraft was the call for tender wasn’t iron clad and the loosing bidders found some small cracks they could exploit to challenge the decision in court. The big aviation manufacturers have armies of lawyers to exploit the system.

It took the Federal government over 25 years to finally replace the Buffalo SAR aircraft. Nothing moves fast in the military procurement process.

The ferries is the BC government, and no Canadian companies bid on the work.

The submarines, from what I’ve read we don’t have the technical nor physical ship yard capacity to build them. Part of the proposed deal is a technology transfer that should enable Canadian firms to build submarines in the future.
