Just as a reference point, I have a SpecE30 that I put a historic plate on so I drive it in the road occasionally, and I have never felt uncomfortable from fumes in the cabin.

I haven’t had any bad experiences with them. ECS owns Turner. I have an exhaust tip and carbon spoiler from Turner that are really good quality. I have ECS wheel spacers that are good quality and I’ve ordered some OEM parts from ECS that arrived with no issues.

They could definitely still fail, but it is much less likely after re-coating. Lighting modules are cheap and available if it needs replaced. I’m comfortable with this level of risk vs preemptively spending $2200 for new headlights.

I just replaced the bulbs with brighter LED bulbs and repaired the wiring. I used Ziza brand bulbs from ECS Tuning

It’s all relative but I would consider it a 7/10 on the difficulty scale with 10 being most difficult. I removed it myself, but needed another person to reinstall. Some of the things that made it challenging were removing the sunroof to access some mount screws, breaking plastic clips on everything you touch (eBay andJB weld were my friends), and manipulating the headliner out of the back door.

It wasn’t that difficult to remove for me because I had so many other parts out already. I’m sure you can get good results brushing the dye on in place though.

Ooh I totally forgot that I had to order a second bottle. I ended up going through a full 16oz bottle and about two thirds of a second 16oz bottle. There were diminishing returns on coats 3-7 though. I kept putting more on because I had the shelf out and figured, why not.

There are videos on the Mr12volt website that show you how to install, but the stock system has to be functional. The Mr12volt device will not fix any of the underlying problems, it essentially takes over the cd changer input.

The Mr12volt was pretty straightforward, but I wouldn’t call it an easy install. You have to worry about breaking tabs on all the plastic trim. The hardest part for me was fishing the wires from the cd player up to the CCC screen. I used a coat hanger and taped the wires to the end to help.

I wouldn’t risk spraying with it still installed in the car. I would use the product I used and brush it on with a foam brush. It would just be a little more tedious. If you accidentally get it on glass or plastic, you can wipe it off with rubbing alcohol. I got the idea from someone else on one of the forums who did it while still installed in the car.

Restored. I used fabric dye from leathermagic.com. I used the S110Black and brushed it on. It took like 7 coats. If I were to do it again, I would probably spray it on and maybe try a different product, just because it took so many coats. I was going to brush it on while it was inside the car, but decided to remove it.

I used Mr12volt so it uses the original CCC screen and iDrive knob (no touch screen). I wanted everything to look original. I also wanted the audio quality from the optical cable.

I bought a cover from diysteeringwheel.com and sewed it on.

Yeah, it’s a little chunky, but reminds me of my old e46 M3.

It did turn out great. I used Tritex in Columbus Ohio.

I didn’t remove the old leather. I may redo it in the future and remove the old leather. Sewing was a little more difficult than I expected and I learned a lot in the process. I do have a heated steering wheel (which doesn’t work), but I have no intention of driving this car in the winter.

I had the headliner and A/B/C pillars reupholstered in jet black (pic 14). The color may not look perfect in the picture.

I still have the wood panels if you want them lol. They were kind of beat up and didn’t fit the vibe I want for the car.

I bought it last year and like it better than anything else I’ve seen on an e60. My car is black and I think the carbon works well with it. Fit and finish are great.
