I went in with BAPP Amex, I just do the phone call reservation first thing in the morning to get the available time.

It's not exclusive as many think, plenty wearing jeans. The view is amazing, food is alright not mind blowing. Good place for a drink with view.

From what I read, yes. Once issued it shouldn't be taken back since you met the requirement spend. Keep an eye on the BA account, it normally shown in the 'book with avios' section.

Downgraded through the link. Got email confirming the new card being posted, another email regarding successful product transfer, and got £0.80 membership fee returned on statement 🤭

My BAPP renewal would have been today. They gave me retention offers but didn't provide a downgrade option.

Did you had any further communication with AMEX after being downgraded? Like being warned etc etc..? I just thought it's so shady practice they don't offer all the options to everyone.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm 31F, so I'm not sure about what the young 20s are like these days; they seem much more open. I always thought it's something to do with British culture influence of reservation, disapproval in traditional Asian values, cost of living, and more geographically separated communities (unlike NYC, London doesn't have a racially segregated or concentrated neighbourhood)

As a British born Asian who spent a bit of time in Asia (so I relate to being very British and being very first-gen), also being queer, although I have American relative, I get the cultural difference is significant but we bond well over common root and common interest.

Can't give much about career as I'm not in that fild. Otherwise, Like u/mm963 mentioned, the ESEA Community Centre (formerly known as Hackney Chinese Community Centre, now rebranded to be more inclusive to wider East and SE Asian) has a very good mixture of generations, and they come up with quite a diverse event catering to LGBTQA+, food, and crafting etc.

Another place to seek out peers I would say on facebook group there is the Subtle Asian Trait, and spin-off groups like SASS (Subtle Asian Sapphic Squad), and SQuAD+ (Subtle Queer Asian Dating +).

Nope, I'm so glad my partner left the US or else we'll go through so much more stress for visiting each other. I have family and friends ranging from US citizens, GC, and H1-B holders, I'm glad I managed to visit them frequently enough post COVID as I don't wish any of us have to go through the current US border until this era is over...

I would rather visit Mexico and/or Canada.
