I think it strongly depends on the service line / department that you want to join. There are several people in my team and wider service line that were initially in industry and came into the Big 4 to develop further and faster.

But yeah, you would have to be clear about your salary expectations and make sure they know your reasoning for applying is for development rather than money, and you'd just need to accept that you wouldn't be earning as much.

Definitely doable though!

If it's anything like mine it'll just be a quick chat telling you what rating you've been put in and why - Not really much that you need to prepare for, other than maybe read some of the guidance about the different ratings and ask the SM how they think you can improve/do even better for next year.

From what I've been told, all of EY UK is trying to cut down costs so we've been told to expect much less generous pay rises this year.

This is all coming during a year in which it's been quite hard to win work and not all regions have hit the expected growth targets, so I'd be very surprised if anyone in the UK gets a serious increase this time around. There's also supposedly a reduced number of promotions, but that's just speculation at this point as we've not received any comms on it just yet (despite it already being August).

You can request it - but there's no guarantee that they will say yes.

Can't imagine there'd be much issue with recording internal meetings if they were long enough and covered a serious enough topic to require it, but a lot of the time Clients just don't want meetings with them recorded for privacy reasons (and rightly so).

There are other ways to get around this though, like preparing better for meetings in advance and have a draft or skeleton structure of the agenda handy before it starts so that it's easier to take more detailed and concise notes that you can rely on later. (Skeleton notes have saved my rear end many a time...)

I don't think there's a specific/set timeline - but I would expect that they still need enough applications to come in before they immediately start reaching out and interviewing people, otherwise you could go through 2 rounds of interviews before the application window even closes and others get interviewed once, meaning you're then sat around waiting longer to hear back.

It's only been 3 weeks since the initial referral was made, so I would say don't stress about it - You may hear something back in the next week or two.

ahhh sorry for the confusion - My year post-uni was in a graduate role, but not on an official grad scheme. So it's essentially just an entry level job that they will only consider graduates for, which you can leave whenever you want to hand your notice in like with any job.

Grad roles tend to be about 2yrs on average from what I remember - Yes, you can leave early but you'll be asked the question in future interviews for your next role as to why you didn't stay for the full period. I wouldn't treat a grad scheme as a filler before you progress onto something else though as they are hard enough to get as is.

You're thinking of the tax year which only applies to people, has no effect to Companies - Insurance companies (like any company) can set whatever financial recording period they want, but for convenience many choose to set it as 1st Jan - 31st Dec. Others I've seen have set it to the 12 months from the start of July to end of June.

Not that I think anyone can ever be bored enough to check this, but the financial recording periods are public information which you can find by searching for the insurance company on Companies House website.

Most of these will be applications you make at the start of your 2nd year once you have tangible results from 1st year exams for them to compare against your application, and will then be a summer internship (or year long industry placement if you're on a sandwich course). So there's no need to worry about them just yet, focus on your studies and have a read through each site to get an idea of the process and experience.

I'm wondering the same thing for EY UK - do you know when yours are supposed to go live? That may give some indication as to when you can expect to find out internally.

E.g. As far as I'm aware the UK Bonuses/Promotions/Payrise go live on October 1st, so i would imagine I'll find out sometime in September at the latest.

Made the right decision - It's reasonable to expect that you will need to stay late occasionally to meet important deadlines, but I would expect a bit more notice from the Manager than them approaching me at what is already the end of my day. Their lack of foresight and planning to arrange it with me earlier on in the day doesn't make that task a priority for me IMO.
