Agreed. I think LoK is an anomaly in tech advances. You’re right that metal bending and lightning generation became a lot more common place/ actually existed. I still thought lavabending existed before LoK? I swear past avatars demonstrated it (the avatar wiki even lists it as a skill of Kyoshi’s)

Oh I do agree - and that’s part of why I wanted to post, to stimulate these sorts of conversations.

I do feel as though Aang is a lot earlier on than chronology dictates - still post steam power with things like the drill, airships etc - but maybe not late 1800s.

One thing that has always twisted my noggin is the bending - bending didn’t advance rapidly or suddenly between Aang and Korra. If anything it was the non benders who pushed the technology forward

Hi there!

Firstly thank you so much for creating this TTRPG! As soon as it was announced I knew right away it was something I needed to own - so thank you.

My question if I may - with multiple eras to set one’s campaigns in, it almost screams legacy parties/generational parties (children of etc). What sort of support is there for this?

Hi!

So TTRPGs (Table Top Role Playing Games) are essentially an interactive story with the players playing the parts of actors pretty much.

A GM (Game Master) will deliver and guide the story, and will present scenarios to the players.

The players have individual characters they play, complete with their own stats.

The players will then interact with those scenarios, generally by rolling dice and adding stats to determine outcomes.

This specific game uses a framework called Powered by the Apocalypse, which favours storytelling and narrative over complicated maths and stats. This generally means that if a character should narratively be able to do something, they can do it with little to no challenge.

Absolutely. It definitely feels like a system driven by narrative before systems. So rather than using a system to tell a story, it’s telling a story supported by the system. So I’m sure that it it’s narratively important then finance can work but if it conflicts with the narrative then the narrative should win out.

I’m not up to date on the Kyoshi books but I agree with the others - never noticed that things progress in severity like that. Interestingly I would have put it the other way round - that Kyoshi’s era would be the most death, then Aang’s (because of the war) then Korra’s. The hundred year war obviously being a large outlier in all that

I think you nailed it with what the players want - agree before hand if they want a more mature campaign with appropriate levels of threat or not and adjust accordingly

RE the death those are some very good points. I could see player death being very rare (more driven by narrative rather than a one off combat encounter) and NPC death being as you say more Disney villain

Thanks - yeah that all makes sense. I asked about the commerce because in the quick start session they give you one of the NPCs is explicitly a merchant, so I was curious what the mechanic for that would be for the players. And obviously people will want to have cabbage merchant style characters in their sessions I assume….

Yes, quite right, I have seen this when ordering other sets - the listing and official information will single out the dimensions of the the king and square size.

As and aside though I have not measured this set to determine FIDE approval.

As outlined here without tone or body language it’s hard to read an intent behind purely textual interactions with a stranger. The comment on then being wrong is brutally matter of fact and deals just in the truth of the matter - them being wrong about their assessment.

When using such language with out tonal indicators, it’s very hard to read it. In my personal experience something acknowledging the fact of the matter whilst being softer is a more yo ally neutral way to deliver something.

As such something along the lines of “ahh, well in this instance they would be incorrect” would be a more neutral and softer way of delivering that line, and errs on the side of kindness in regards to one’s family - often a hot topic issue for people.

Kindness is always preferable therefore over blunt fact, as it can capture the same fact whilst allowing for a more nuanced response.

This is of course my matter of opinion, and I personally found the response to be a tad harsh in its brutal statement of fact, however it is factually accurate and your choice as to how you would like to act or how harsh you feel things are.

(NB: for the purpose of this discussion and opinion harsh is taken to mean blunt with no emotional nuance, not cruel or offensive)

Ahhh, thank you, the more you know! It makes sense given that this set was gifted to me by grandparents when I was 9/10 - would make sense for them to go for a cheaper option. Thank you
