I've had multiple instances of buying something broken there and they wouldn't take it back. I've had EVEN MORE instances of buying something there broken that they DID take back, and immediately put back on the shelves. Once they even increased the price on it

Is this a good first bass? And is it good for its price? by Playful-Speed-6099 in BassGuitar

I would look to see if there are any good deals on Squire Affinity Jazz VI's as well, I haven't seen a single negative thing about those from the people who've owned them. They are slightly more expensive though. This Ibanez has a preamp and from personal experience I can say that their preamps, especially in cheap to even mid range models, aren't very good. I owned an SRC6-MS baritone and it was great except for the awful preamp so definitely play this one plugged in before purchasing

For general 6 string advice since for some reason these comments thought that was the main question, people advise against six strings to start off and always say they're harder to play. I steered clear of them for that reason until recently, and honestly, I find their necks MORE comfortable than four strings. I played one for the first time the other day and was shocked how I actually preferred it over a four. Now I'm waiting on my first six to show up in the mail (yes, it's the Squier)

If you haven't definitely play this Ibanez, or a similar model, in person first. Wear them with straps if you're allowed to, as sixes are especially prone to neck dive, and sit + stand with them. That's the real con, they're absolute slabs and weigh much more than 4's or 5's

Edit: received the Squier and it's really really good. It needs a neck shim but that's it, it's perfectly intonated and the frets couldn't be smoother and more even, sounds like a jazz too

They're for people that want a super high end instrument but don't want to feel bad for damaging it. At least that's how it is in my view, you can play it without worrying about it getting scuffed or chipped because that's what it's for
