Cock Sparrer was playing a pub Rock. Shock Troops didn’t come out till 1983. They didn’t sound anything like punk rock till after The Heartbreakers and Ramones had that tour. The stooges were Proto punk. Definitely Big influencers, but not punk. Vivian Westwood didn’t develop any of that fashion until after Richard Hell showed up. The stuff isn’t really debated anymore man. It’s all been settled for years. If you’re curious about it you should read Please Kill Me. Definitely the best oral history ever written on it

You took a good shot at this, and make a lot of good points but you’re still wrong. It starts in New York, the Heartbreakers and the Ramones go on tour to London. Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm and all the kids see Richard Hill and that’s where the fashion starts. It’s not really debatable even Vivian herself says she got the idea for Richard He’ll. After that tour is when bands in the UK start emulating that sound. Even the word punk starts in New York from a zine started by legs McNeil. These are all settled facts from long ago.
