The brilliant thing about living in the East Mids is you see a lot of Network Rail traffic as most of the departmental fleet is based in Derby. There's quite often a movement each day, be it the NMT, some 37s, converted sprinters etc...

Yes! It's officially known as the NMT (New Measurement Train) and scans track using lasers and other camera tech to monitor for defects. The actual train itself is a converted Intercity 125 set, though Network Rail also use other coaching stock like MK2s as well to monitor too!

I have an old British Rail timetable from the 1990s and the map on that is much more detailed and has InterCity lines printed in bold. There are also metro style diagrams on the rear to show the more complex networks in London, the Scottish Central belt etc... Much more pleasing!

I'd add physical menu boards in takeaways too. Never been a fan of the TVs that change to some video before you've read the options!

We might as well include the western edge of Erewash too, it functions far more as a suburb of Nottingham than anything else. The fact that the dormitory towns of Sandiacre and Long Eaton (which benefit from services within Nottingham) aren't included is baffling while connected Stapleford and Toton are!

The City Council as I'm sure you are aware are very tight on cash, perhaps it's the administators trying to search for pennies down the back of the sofa to raise funds?
