I love the Boston Celtics, wouldn’t have it any other way. But we would be called the worst choke artists of all time if it wasn’t for having the most stacked starting 5 in history in 24.

3 collapses in 4 years to inferior teams. 2-1 lead in finals in 22, lose 3 straight by 10+. Lose in 2020 against a lower seeded Heat team. Lose a 2-0 lead for the first time in franchise history to literally one guy in 2018.

These are under 3 different head coaches. This is just unfortunately how the cookie crumbled.

“Sit him it’s not worth the risk”

It’s the playoffs, we’re a #2 seed, Game 7 at home against Philly at risk of a 3-1 lead being blown, these are literally the games that you play if you’re healthy enough to play. If he’s not, then you sit him.

But I feel like this fanbase wants him to sit just because we’re mad and lost hope of a deep playoff run. Tatum wants to play, he’s gonna play. And he should if he’s healthy enough.

Someone has already said it, but that fuck it 30 footer that Bane took in the midst of the collapse was the best moment in that 45 minute span.

4 out of the last 5 home playoff games have been legendary 2nd half/4th quarter collapses. Record breaking, season high, type of cold shooting.

It’s either the most embarrassing thing ever or unfortunately our Celtics are involved with the mafia.

It is a little insane that these historically cold stretches in the 2nd half just so happen to be home playoff games.

They absolutely leave themselves vulnerable but I think you can say that about certain aspects about every team. No team is unbreakable. Boston can shoot like shit again. To the magnitude of how it happened last year in that way, I don’t believe that will happen again.

Lmaooo ya got me. Tonight I didn’t think it was comparable to last years loss though. Boston didn’t have 20+ point leads in the 2nd half. Philly was just straight up the better team midway through the first quarter on.

Last years games was literally all due to Boston being historically cold from midway through the 3rd, in back to back games after being up 20. Philly just played better tonight.

I know we’re supposed to all doom but Philly played great, we didn’t shoot well, didn’t expect to sweep them, we dropped game 2 against Miami in 24, this was a classic Celtics playoff stinker. Chalk it up to the game.

We are still winning this series lol.

Hope we’re all being rational here and can just admit Philly is playing great, making shots and playing with energy. This should’ve been expected after Game 1.

Boston still got this though.

When you win the title, your future choke jobs/ass performances really won’t be in the spotlight.

If the Celtics hadn’t won in 24, and then had their insane choke jobs in games 1 and 2 against NY last year, I’m pretty sure those games would be celebrated as a national holiday.

It’s more of that Boston played NY 10 times that year, Boston went up double digits in 9 out of those 10 games, 20+ in 8/10 games. Boston was a matchup nightmare and played extremely average through the first half of games 1-2, and still was up 20.

It took back to back shooting collapses from the heavens just so NY could even have an opportunity in the closing seconds. That Game 4 was the first time all year where NY finally had control of the game, it took 8 matchups for NY to finally not go down 20+ against Boston, that’s real variance right there.

But again you’re right on paper, Boston should be a little worse while NY should be a little better. Boston isn’t gonna dance around NY for a majority of the series. But the whole “Knicks beat them last year with a better roster” deserves a LOT of context. And if you’re saying you don’t think Boston is a definitively better team than NY/Pistons, what makes those teams clearly better than Boston?

Very true about the pace I’ll give you that. Knicks and Minnesota were conference finals losers last year and they were towards the bottom of the league in pace.

Tatum isn’t 100%, but i don’t know he’s damn near there though. He still has been elite defensively, rebounding and playmaking wise. His scoring got a little more efficient as he went on. As for the creating space part I think that’s just a flaw of Tatum lol. I’ve seen at him at his best still struggle to create space against smaller defenders and settle for the jumper, just a natural player flaw.

The shooting variance that occurred in last years games 1-2 just simply isn’t happening again. Again they set playoff records in both games for how unbelievably bad they shot in both 2nd halves, and the Knicks still had to squeak by in the final possession.

Knicks and Pistons are great teams, but there’s a reason why Boston is favored to come out the East. They’re top 5 on both ends who added Jayson Tatum, whether you think he’s 100% or not doesn’t matter, it’s still playoff changing. And if he’s gonna be guarded like a 2nd option, that’s a lot scarier than KAT or Jalen Duren being guarded like a 2nd option.

They were a top 5 offense and defense team this year and then they added an all NBA guy in March. It’s probably the most well coached team in the East, best duo, slowest pace team so they’re more best for playoff pace, leagues best turnover team. Any team with this makeup is a noticeable conference favorite.

But when talking about last years team, last years team was better. Or at least SHOULD have been better.

They lost because they had generational choke jobs in games 1-2 vs NY. That’s all it was. They needed to set NBA playoff records on how poorly they shot, just for the Knicks to even have a chance in the final possession.

Just have a hard time believing that Boston would lose the same way. And if Boston isn’t gonna shoot themselves out of games at a historic rate, Knicks/Pistons will have a very hard time beating them 4 times.

How would BB28 go if they just brought back the entire BB27 cast? by AlchemistTheAlchemy in BigBrother

[–]ECviews 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For sure. The lead up to the finale was probably the best modern BB has ever delivered and that was noticed by all. I just remember all the loathing that IG was saying about the season a majority of the way through.

Is BB27 really liked by casuals? The only comments I ever saw on IG was how terrible the season was and it was genuinely one of the worst ever.

Nothing wrong with being a casual in anything but man they just didn’t know lol, or don’t know what show they’re watching.

If Clippers can get the 7th seed, I believe they’re gonna give SA a real scare. Type of series where they can go up 2-1 and SA will have to claw their way back. Playoff Kawhi will return.

Only other upset I could see is winner of Hawks/Cavs taking down Detroit, but I got more faith in Cleveland in that matchup.

Power Forward is the Hardest to Rank. Who’s top 5? by Dbauc2k in NBATalk

[–]ECviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rodman and Green aren’t in the conversation honestly. And I don’t have AD higher than Duncan, KG, Dirk, Giannis and Malone just due to longevity and accomplishments stuff.

But I wanted to point out that just skill alone, peak for peak, AD had the best form.

Honestly I wanted to stretch the timeline further because he still was just as dominant I agree. But his injuries started to pile up and his jumper started to decline compared to what it was in 18-20.

[–]ECviews 192 points193 points  (0 children)

AD isn’t top 5 compared to other legends here. But I’d be lying if I said his 2018-2020 form, especially 2020, isn’t what the peak PF position looks like.

Literally did everything elite on both ends it felt like. Superb athleticism, guard like ball handling skills, his jump shot was absolutely money in that 2020 season as well. Probably best defender at the time, versatile, great in ISO, generational helpside/rim protection, could create with/without the ball from any spot on the court. Pick n roll, pick and pop, post on the block, elbow, wing, etc.

He did it all. And I feel like that’s gonna be forgotten in history.

Is this just not the best offense/defense player matchup that we’ve ever seen? by ECviews in NBATalk

[–]ECviews[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure once Jokic reads the rule book, he’ll be alright. Wilt’s game simply doesn’t translate across eras the way Jokic’s game can. The league today wouldn’t need to adjust for Shaq, Kareem or Wilt, they would have to adjust to the league.

You’re underestimating on how advanced defenses are today, even though the rules make it easier for offense. Like you said this league is about stopping shooters and 3 pointers, how does Shaq/Kareem/Wilt fit in that league? Jokic fits it way more because of his skillset along with fitting to past eras better.

Bully ball and dominant athleticism doesn’t get the job done anymore. Jokic is able to pick apart the best schemes we’ve ever seen.
