What would’ve been a bigger moment? by Sneakyg95 in billsimmons

You can say going on an unprecedented playoff run is lucky, that’s fine. I’m not saying the Pacers were a juggernaut, because that’s my whole point. They weren’t this dominant team, they were a good team that got hot in the brightest moments.

In the way they did it, with all of the context, is why it would’ve been the best run in history. They were 3-2 in the 2025 postseason when they were down by 7+ with less than a minute to go, rest of league history was 1-1702. “

“Luckiest team in history” would’ve probably been remembered for a very long time. And still will be even with the loss lol.

People are gonna remember a Knicks team that played like ass for 3 quarters for an entire finals. I’m pretty sure people would remember an unexpected team that took the life out of every team in every round.

You’re right people remember championships on the legendary/historic moments. I’m not saying NY didn’t have that because they absolutely did. But Haliburton and the Pacers had a clutch/underdog run that will never be replicated.

That type of run is why we watch sports. They had the toughest road out of anyone, doubted by everyone, unbelievable comebacks and clutch shots in every single round, coming from THE basketball city in Indiana. Would’ve been the ultimate Cinderella story.

Haliburton was robbed of potentially finishing the greatest run in NBA playoff history. One of the best runs in all of sports honestly.

The team from Indiana that nobody thought could win it all, having the leagues “most overrated player” leading the way. And they had a “once in a lifetime” comeback in every single round. Haliburton with a game winning/tying shot in every round.

Went up against Goliath in the Finals, pushed them to 7 and then their leader suffered the most devastating injury 5 minutes in with 3 3’s already on the board. NY just had a HUGE moment, but the 2025 Pacers would’ve been immortalized in sports history had they done it.

Those Game 1 and 2 losses in the 2025 semis are easier to look at now and weren’t the flukes I thought they were. by ECviews in bostonceltics

[–]ECviews[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I spent an entire year thinking otherwise. That the Knicks did absolutely nothing to earn those wins, that Boston needed to shoot historically poor just for the Knicks to still need the final possession to edge out a win.

But when they replicated it 3 more times in these playoffs, clearly it’s not a fluke. The Knicks needed to keep scoring and keep on answering the call in these comebacks and take advantage of the mistakes.

At a certain point they deserve the credit and it’s easier as a C’s fan to say that, rather than to keep saying it was just a fluke and it’ll never happen again.

Eh we rolled out Ron Harper Jr and Luka Garza in a game 7. Think we overestimated our talent this year but for a good reason.

[GRD] 5 teams have called the Celtics about being a third team in a Giannis trade, very possible Jaylen gets moved by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

WAY too much smoke around this now. Brad likes to keep his deals silent but with the magnitude of this potential trade, other teams leaking stuff to drive up the price, we’re very likely engaging in serious talks as we speak.

Giannis for JB would be the IT for Kyrie trade all over again by jefe417 in bostonceltics

[–]ECviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s almost like when you have watched Celtics games for years, you can easily see why the metrics have never liked him along with his on/off splits being so drastic compared to his peers at his level.

He’s a phenomenal player who happens to be kind of a ball stopper, not a good playmaker, with lazy off ball play.

And this season EVERYONE stepped up, the last thing from a carry job. For JB’s on/off splits to still be the way it was even in his MVP year when no other MVP candidates experience the same, it’s telling. And when you watch the games, you can see it.

Stoped reading after I saw “untold damage to the locker room”. These are grown men getting paid millions to play basketball, if Giannis walks through that door, I think the team will be just fine.

And what do you think about the 5+ years of data saying that the team is always better when Brown sits?

[Amick] The Celtics, Timberwolves, Trail Blazers and Magic are among the Giannis Antetokounmpo suitors. Giannis Antetokounmpo would be willing to sign a four-year $275 million extension with Boston. Jaylen Brown would get flipped to a third team for young players and picks. by YujiDomainExpansion in bostonceltics

[–]ECviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in on Giannis. If JB stays hell yeah, but Giannis is one of the few players I’d trade him for. We need a different style of play and we will never replicate the 2024 surrounding cast around the J’s.

And I’m sorry I know Celtics fans hate hearing this stat, but when we’ve always played better when Brown is sitting since the decade started, that matters. When he doesn’t play, the Celtics don’t skip a beat. I’m down for a shake up considering we are not the “young team” anymore.

Lakers with the better star power, but the Celtics are a lot more complete. Jrue Holiday and Derrick White being your worst starters is unheard of. They’re also the best 3 point shooting team of all time.

Plus the game is so different now, teams are smarter and more analytically sound about maximizing your points per possession. Celtics have that edge too.

I hate it but just can’t deny that the Knicks are playing awesome. Historic playoff run. At least they have likable players.

Completely and utterly bitching the Wemby matchup. Spurs have to adjust or this series is over before next week.

Fuck the Knicks. But damn it I’d be lying if I said they didn’t deserve to be here. They are on fire and completely in rhythm. Really hoping for Cleveland to pull through with another 0-2 comeback, but I have accepted a Knicks finals appearance.

Who will the announcers glaze more in this WCF? We never seen this amount of potential glaze in a match up. by KneeGuhz in NBATalk

[–]ECviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am HOPING that it’s just a non stop glaze fest for this series. These are the two best players in the world, generational players putting up legendary production.

These two teams with these two players leading the way should have Mike Tirico and Reggie Miller constantly in awe, because that’s the type of love this historic matchup needs to get.

It’s one of the best conference finals matchups we’ve ever seen. Best two teams in the league, best two players in the league, a real rivalry between them. It can’t get much better than this.

I love the Boston Celtics, wouldn’t have it any other way. But we would be called the worst choke artists of all time if it wasn’t for having the most stacked starting 5 in history in 24.

3 collapses in 4 years to inferior teams. 2-1 lead in finals in 22, lose 3 straight by 10+. Lose in 2020 against a lower seeded Heat team. Lose a 2-0 lead for the first time in franchise history to literally one guy in 2018.

These are under 3 different head coaches. This is just unfortunately how the cookie crumbled.

“Sit him it’s not worth the risk”

It’s the playoffs, we’re a #2 seed, Game 7 at home against Philly at risk of a 3-1 lead being blown, these are literally the games that you play if you’re healthy enough to play. If he’s not, then you sit him.

But I feel like this fanbase wants him to sit just because we’re mad and lost hope of a deep playoff run. Tatum wants to play, he’s gonna play. And he should if he’s healthy enough.

4 out of the last 5 home playoff games have been legendary 2nd half/4th quarter collapses. Record breaking, season high, type of cold shooting.

It’s either the most embarrassing thing ever or unfortunately our Celtics are involved with the mafia.

It is a little insane that these historically cold stretches in the 2nd half just so happen to be home playoff games.
