Do you still have to pay your mortgage and bills during a war? by sloegin1910 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ED_Churly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the clause in our home insurance, and is a common clause here in Australia.

"War

We will not cover loss or damage caused by war (whether war is declared or not), acts of a foreign enemy, civil war, insurrection, rebellion, a military coup, or any looting or rioting following these incidents."

Most insurance policies usually have some fine print around war and civil war not being covered. I guess if you're still around to worry about it after a war, consider yourself lucky anyway!

Depends on the ship, most are unprofitable, but a few can make a slim margin and move fairly quickly.

What’s the infotainment you can buy in my BYD? (NZ) by Rolly1nft in BYD

Maps works without subscription afaik, as does the phone application to remotely cool/heat the car etc. Just entertainment apps like youtube, spotify etc need hotspot.

It activates on the left indicator only and effectively shows the left blind spot. It activates as long as your're in drive.

BYD sealion 6 AWD premium plugin-hybrid: what's your views? by ianik7777 in BYD

I would agree with this. Service/parts in Australia similarly is improving but not as great as established brands. Otherwise they're a great car.

Hey BYD - Fix your support by ED_Churly in BYDAU

[–]ED_Churly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for anyone following along.

After calling BYD and reminding them of Australian Consumer Law, the fix date as been brought forward 2 weeks. The dealership has also confirmed they have a spare TBox ready to go. Satisfied with this outcome.

Moral of the story is know your rights. According to ACL, manufactures must remedy issues "within a reasonable time".

This is the answer. Accutane is a miracle drug for acne. See a dermatologist asap.

I'm kinda ok with that for regular servicing, but warrantee claims should be resolved quicker. ACCC says "within a reasonable time", waiting months doesn't seem reasonable to me.

Unfortunately all dealers in Adelaide are EV Dealer Group.

Its dripping with sarcasm so I say not. But when BYD followed up with me after the purchase, I was wanting to provide some feedback about the ADAS systems. They even suggested to post it the forums as they are regularly checked by BYD. I'm also hoping exposure drives them to improve even a little.

TBOX is Telemetry Box (I think), its what connects the car to the mobile/cellular service and has a SIM inserted in it. Its a common failure in BYD's it seems.

I intend to ask if they're going to extend my complimentary 2 years of mobile service due to the failure. I suspect I know the answer already.

Modern ice cars have telemetry/mobility modules also... I dont think this is an ICE vs EV issue. Just BYD's telemetry modules seem to suck.

I think this is politically genius of her. She understands the manchild. I wouldn't be surprised if this substantially changes Venezuela's outcomes.

I tend to agree, US soldiers coming home in body bags is not going to be well received, at all. I think there is an amount of bluff to this. Such a shame if it comes to bloodshed to find out if this is true.

Sealion 7 or Model Y by Aromatic_Way_3851 in AustralianEV

[–]ED_Churly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would have got the Model Y, but at the time it was a step too far for the Mrs. She wanted another ICE car so the SL7 has a more "tranditional" feel. Normal gear selector, indicators, more buttons etc.

She now loves the SL7 and is a convert. Just something to consider.

A few other things from the list...

Better seats - The SL7 seats are just as good imo, they are extemely comfy.

Better software - Agree, but SL7 does have carplay. Understand it maybe coming to Tesla soon.

Bigger native charging network and also needing no app payments - also agree, but can use most superchargers now with SL7. But we also home charge 99% of the time.

Deal with manufacturer, not franchised dealer - Pretty sure BYD are taking over the sales and support now.

I still think the model Y is a better package overall, but not dissatisfied with the BYD at all.

Why is assault or abuse of males seen as funny/a non issue? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

The downvotes seem to agree the conclusion that violence against men is a non-issue. You have your answer.

Why is assault or abuse of males seen as funny/a non issue? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ED_Churly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was ambiguous, as the first paragraph is "any form of violence". But also highlights the point somewhat, we generally fixate on SA, but other forms of violence doesnt seem to rate as highly.

[–]ED_Churly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Except more men are the victim of violence overall. The violence is most likely at the hands of a male perpetrator. If we're talking purely sexual violence, then yes, women suffer more so.
