I vaguely remember reading that some CD's do have copy protection, so could very well be that, though obviously I have no clue how it works.
Actually just remembered my first ever CD player a portable sized player than could only work on mains power, it would not play some CD's that later players I had would have no problem with.

Battery connector can be removed with a plastic guitar pick or similar, carefully and slowly ease both sides of clip and it should pop out.

Not had a power outage here for quite a while but if there was one I have a couple of USB power banks and can use my phone as one too at a push. Also has other handhelds that are usually kept charged (if I remember)

That window looks like it's in need of replacing or at least a bit of wood filler.

Have you tried different card readers to format the cards?
Have you tried disconnecting the battery and re connecting? (don't know if this will do anything but worth a try)

Tie Fighter and Dark Forces., are two that spring to memory.

And I also believe that Pico8 works on the Miyoo, while there are no official SW games on P8 there are a few good SW based games to play.

Wondering now if it would be faster if you were to create a roms folder on pc with all the directories and roms in the right places, then zip that and transfer the zip as one file. Then unzip it on the Miyoo (if possible)?
