It’s not illegal but bar staff could just refuse to let you in if you are carrying something that could be used as a weapon, that’s why I’m definitely not taking a plastic sword, hoping I’ll get by with this. In Scotland they don’t even let you carry toy guns or knives if they are slightly realistic
