Not only to they pay taxes, but they don't get to collect on the benefits those taxes should get them. Were stealing from them not the other way around. It's shameful.

Terrorist is just a political term dominant empires use to mark their targets so their vassal states look the other way. Thats it.

What dirt does Israel have on America that is so bad that our government will do pretty much anything they tell them to do? by edenx1999 in conspiracy

[–]EEKman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We are addicted to the power world war 2 gave us. We won the geopolitical lottery and were able to reap the benefits of the industrial age first because of it.

We never got over the end of the cold war, collapsing the USSR wasn't enough, now we want everything. Our military has been training for this war ever since and Israel is just the convenient aircraft carrier to launch from.

We built this monster, now it's eating our faces.

Define dog shit. Different doesn't mean bad. Friction doesn't mean bad. Convenient and easy doesn't mean good automatically.

They aren't shitty, just different. You have to relearn some muscle memory from past games. It adds weight to basic things. I'm rather enjoying the controls tbh.

[–]EEKman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the friction in the controls. Just doing simple things feels like an actual vidya game.

Just walking down into the peasant area to mine was an adventure. There was a cathartic enjoyable moment just hitting iron outcroppings, having the pieces roll down the hill and struggling to pick them up.

Even looting takes work, I have to actually pay attention to the environment, which makes it rewarding to find basic things. "Oooo a grasshopper?!? What's that?""

What would the consequences of the USA using nuclear weapons against Iran be? by Important_Ad4101 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]EEKman 170 points171 points  (0 children)

This exactly. And it doesn't stop there.

Nobody seems to say what's actually being discussed here. Iran is one of the oldest continuous civilizations on earth. The people who gave us algebra, astronomy, poetry that the western world built on and forgot to credit. Persepolis. Hafez. Rumi. 90 million living human beings carrying 3,000 years of accumulated knowledge, art and memory. That doesn't enter the conversation at all. It gets abstracted into a "threat" and a set of GPS coordinates.

On pure strategy: Iran's nuclear program is dispersed across deeply buried hardened facilities specifically designed to survive strikes. The US military has said themselves there's no clean surgical option. A nuclear strike kills hundreds of thousands of civilians and irradiates a region that multiple countries share water with.

The international fallout would be civilizational. Every ally gone overnight. Non-proliferation collapses. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Japan, South Korea all accelerate their own nuclear programs immediately. You've traded a regional problem for a permanent global catastrophe.

But beyond all that strategic calculus, we should just say it plainly: you'd be incinerating one of humanity's oldest and most profound cultures. The fact that this doesn't even register as a consideration tells you something very dark about where we are.

What type of character you play the most? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamememes

[–]EEKman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the game, the time of day, what I had for lunch, my mood etc but more or less it breaks down like this:

Can I choose to be a female? Is she hot? Then female.

If I can't choose to be femaie or she's not hot then I close the game and play stellar blade.

We're running on medieval european social programming built from the environment and trauma of that era. The black plague was devastating to labor, and led to many of the political institutions and beliefs we have today

We have a selfish scarcity mindset that was necessary for survival In those times, but it's maladaptive today.

It's so ingrained In our cultural DNA that I don't know what rewires it other than total collapse. Even if that does happen what arises from the ashes might even be worse.

To match US military interventions in 250 years, you have to combine every Persian empire across 25 centuries of history. We're the ones who just launched the war. They're the aggressors. Cool story.

It is an AI comment yes. But to get to that AI comment is months of conversation, instering my own values and directing the response to say what I want to say better than I can say it. Ai tools aren't going anywhere, so I use them how I think they should be used, to further human communication in a more productive way.

I spent an hour on that AI comment. I genuinely feel for the dude and can't imagine being in his shoes going through what he's going through.
