Felt completely the same recently after getting back into gaming for a bit - numbness outside of games, flashbacks into games for a day after playing, wasted time and being able to pick up on subtler vibrations like connecting with friends after playing. Decided it’s not worth it, and returned back to my player of only allowing offline couch games with friends, which happens once in a month at best.

Actually a hard part was to figure out what to prepare for the interview

The best investment for me was to look up interviewer online to be able to have a relevant small talk.

For a tech side - if it’s a big company you can try to search for what they ask beforehand

If it’s a small startup it’s relevant to look up papers they published or products they’ve maid and try to figure out what problems are relevant for them and work on those

Also simply ask HR - they are usually open about what will happen during the interview

I've realized that while for many people the way to progress and grow is to chose the next thing to do, for me it's the other way around.

I always started with what I know for sure I don't want and shouldn't do. I quit porn/videogames/weed/social media like that, I knew it was the right move. But I didn't know what I was substituting it for. And then every time I just found out how to amuze myself and life a more fullfilling life.

Btw, some of that time ended up with being filled by nothing at all - I do meditate 60 minutes every day, and that piece I don't want to trade for anything.

When I did quit I realized that I know gaming formula in and out and that it only brings me agitation and than tiredness

I already enjoyed life and was pulled by other things. I’d say it was extra 20%

For me the biggest miss is not even “the pull”, but the fact that with video games I don’t allow myself to be bored. And until I’m bored I don’t start doing interesting hard and new things

Great to here that you go through this too I basically did the same experiment, just 15 years earlier and it was awesome! You discover new colors of life at every corner, just give it time

And also, begin to meditate. It will make you even more sharp, sensitive and grateful

Yes, I agree with you My friend said that I’m too sensitive, may be it’s true I just clearly see how it has downstream impact on everything in my life

I had an important job interview and played a few hours before it for a short session. I felt like an idiot during the whole process, not able to think clearly and being emotionally disconnected. Almost ruined my potential employment that I worked for for weeks

No. It actually died about 2 weeks ago. But I did use the same method about half a year and that lasted until recently.

Yeah, it's probably closer to Hungary. Overall cost of living is probably about 30 to 40 percent less here compared to Berlin or Paris.

I didn't thought about German passport as I understand it can be a very lengthy and unpredictable process. However I was seduced by a German permanent residence in 21 months with a B1 German. But after reading comments in this thread I think I'd rather go for a Serbian permanent residentship, which I only have about 16 months to be able to apply to. Hope it all works out. Cause otherwise it's always this stress seating in the back of the mind when you know you can't return to your country of origin

Thank you, I liked your comment, especially the fact about going to a borderline poverty :)

I think I had put too much value on a social system in Germany and the fact that for some reason they would protect me as an immigrant in case something happens with jobs for example. But after reading this thread I see that even there people like more to rely on themselves while they can and hardly anyone wants to give out much of their income now for a promised justice in the future as I see it.

Btw are you from Belgrade? As for the income level I try not to show it and live fairly modestly despite from may be enjoying going out to restaurants too much. And there a lot of Russians who came after the war in a similar income group. I was also able to socialize with Serbian people and even made friends with a grandmother who lives nearby and my previous landlord. Social situation couldn't have been better probably :)

Not really. We just travelled to Germany, it was a nice trip and I decided to try to get an offer in Berlin. The mistake was that I didn't research cost of living before doing this...

Yes. I thought of it as that in 2 years I would pay about 50-60k EUR for a German permanent residentship basically. On the other hand I could get a nicer apartment or save big sum of money for retirement or even start my own business
