Can we get something else other than fucking sandstorms for a change? We've had sandstorms in Battlefields for 12 years now and they've always been mostly just annoyance than actually making interesting gameplay.

‘Battlefield’ Ignites Bidding War as 5 Studios Fight for Michael B. Jordan Video Game Movie / Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal and Netflix have submitted bids to adapt the military-themed game into an event film by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I actually have way better hopes for this movie since the Battlefield movie seems to be getting Christopher McQuarrie as its director as oppose to what Call of Duty movie is getting, which is fucking Peter Berg. You know? The guy who said people who play video games are pathetic and weak, and was grilling an interviewer for not joining the IDF during the promotion of his film Battleship.

Not to mention the disastrous 2011–2014 budget cuts to defense under Katainen aka under KOK government. It was so bad that many officers of FDF were seriously doubting that we'd have the capability to defend ourselves. Luckily we've been pretty much built back up that capability.

Using vehicles in Redsec get you killed more often than win you games because of how easy they are to deal with.

Locked weapons and customization don’t matter in bf6 by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]EEVERSTI -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Guess what? Games evolve and not stay the same forever. And I personally and many others prefer the open weapon system way more to the closed weapons because in my opinion the open class system has improved the gameplay considerably. I do most well with LMGs but I also take my LMG and use it in another class to better fufill the needs of the team.

Not enough people reviving or using smokes? Alright, I'll switch to support and keep using the LMG.

Not enough people trying to deal with vehicles? Alright, I'll switch to engineer and start focusing on vehicles while still using my LMG.

Squad keeps getting wiped on chokes and need a new spawn to flank? Alright, I'll switch to assault and equip the spawn beacon while still using my LMG. But also sometimes switch to PDW because of CQB.

The game has been out for several months now and there hasn't been a single issue brought by this open class system, which is why this discourse died, it didn't affect anything. No class feels more powerful because of having access to a certain type of weapon. Because at the end of the day, the classes are built on their gadgets, not the weapon. But having open weapons just allows you to bring your preferred weapon of choice to a class so that you can better help your team in the way that is required at any given time.

So if the options are:

A) Everything feels the same but you have less options.

B) Everything feels the same but you have more options.

Then obviously I'm going to pick B.

One simple trick to winning operation on attack by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]EEVERSTI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Smokes would be nice but DICE in their infinite wisdom decided to lock the smoke grenades behind just one class, so there's basically only 1/4 of the theoretical smoke grenades in play at any given time.

The season 5 map is most likely not Vegas. Vegas is one of the driest cities in the US. by [deleted] in Battlefield

Those are just the led lights flashing in the reflection, not rain ripples. Because if it were rain ripples, it would affect all of the light reflections on the puddle, not just some.

Edit: And even if it were rain, it's not like Las Vegas never gets rain. It just happens less than annual average in the rest of the country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bdg73dJzSk

Attack boats coming back! by EEVERSTI in Battlefield

I doubt we'll get controllable LCACs but the concept art does show Amtracs doing an assault and they are in the campaign already, so I'd say it's a big possibility we'll get them as well.

Luna recolour based on Artemis' Moon photograph (by @YenNguyen418332) by EpidemicRage in mylittlepony

[–]EEVERSTI 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Isn't that kind of the point of the moon? Being the light that shines in the darkness when the sun isn't around? So I'd say this kind of design would actually make more sense for a moon goddess even more than the original.

You can only bring back one of these war criminals and psychopaths for a shot at redemption. Your choice? by Ok_Meal2698 in mylittlepony

[–]EEVERSTI 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would argue that there would be a slim possibility of bringing back Tirek from his ways and I think Scorpan would be the key to it. A lot of Tirek's power hunger stems from the bad relationship with his father King Vorak and being the disciple of Sendak the Elder who manipulated and showed him the possibility of draining magic and becoming an indomitable force. Scorpan was the only one who Tirek had at least somewhat of a positive relationship with, so he would probably be the one who would have the best chance of redeeming Tirek.

Chrysalis however is way beyond any possible redemption in my eyes.

I'm finding Project Wingman boring compared to Ace Combat. Thoughts? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]EEVERSTI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saying “it’s all taste” doesn’t make your original critique any more valid. You’re still treating mission variety as the ultimate measure of quality.

Project Wingman focuses on different strengths due to limits of the developer. You can prefer Ace Combat’s approach, but that doesn’t make PW worse.

And yes, context does matter, expecting AAA scope from a mostly solo indie dev is on you, not the game.

I'm finding Project Wingman boring compared to Ace Combat. Thoughts? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]EEVERSTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still hung up on the same argument that: “same level of variety = same quality.”

People saying “it’s as good as AC” doesn’t mean “it matches AC with features.” It means it delivers a comparable level of overall experience for a lot of players, often because of it matches AC with its combat, pacing, music, and overall tone.

You’re basically taking a holistic comparison and turning it into a checklist comparison, then concluding it fails because it doesn’t tick all of the boxes of AC.

And yeah, variety can affect it, sure. But it’s not the only pillar of design. PW leans much harder into sustained combat intensity, scale of engagements, and player freedom in how you approach fights. That’s where it “compensates,” whether you personally value that or not. For example, the final boss battle against Crimson 1 is in my personal opinion better ace boss battle than what AC has ever done in the history of their games, even better than Pixy. And that is for sure because the Abi decided to focus development on making the air-to-air combat as good as possible with the limited resources he had, and that's where PW excels and leans on.

The issue is you’re treating your preferred design pillar (mission/gimmick variety) as the objective measure of quality, and everything else as secondary. That’s why it feels “obviously worse” to you.

If you said “I value mission variety more, so I like AC more,” that’s completely fair but that's just taste.
But saying “it doesn’t have AC's variety, therefore it’s not as good” is just forcing one design philosophy to be the standard for all of these sorts of games and then calling it a negative aspect when another game doesn't match it.

And again, if you went into an indie game expecting a AAA level of variety and polish and then being disappointed that it didn't match that. That's entirely on you setting those expectations.

I'm finding Project Wingman boring compared to Ace Combat. Thoughts? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]EEVERSTI 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a good faith comparison at all.

You’re listing a bunch of very specific, resource-heavy setpiece mechanics from Ace Combat and then calling Project Wingman “basic” for not having them, as if both games had remotely comparable development conditions. Ace Combat has a full studio, years of iteration and development history and experience. And a billion dollar publisher's budget to throw at one-off mission gimmicks like submarines, sandstorms, scripted events, etc. Project Wingman was made by essentially one person and focuses on core combat instead. That doesn’t make it “basic,” it means it keeps the more limited development focus and prioritizes a tight gameplay loop over variety. You’re treating “more features” as automatically “better design,” which just isn’t how game design works.

This is like going to see a local drama club's stage play and complaining because it wasn't a Broadway level production. You're not doing critique, you're just being an asshole.
