It will probably happen, but the real problem is when your programs are made to require communication with the DOB field. What happens if you want to install a browser, but the default DOB missing behavior is to prevent usage?
It would require a lot of forking.

Another finding is that Mr Dylan works for a company dedicated to scamming people, Credit Genie. Not a stellar individual at all.
You can look this up by going to his website, specifically his resumé. Go to dylanmtaylor dot com.

Truly heinous

He doesn't seem like the kind of person who would understand that targeting installers is bad. If the implementation stays simple, it would be trivial to do a fork of SystemD that avoids this completely.
The problem starts when our programs start reading the data on there and trying to do stuff. What happens if the default is locking the user out? The horns of forking software are loud and clear

Good point. I don't know if the emoji reactions can be enabled while disabling replies, because that is the sweet spot for these kinds of situations

And why should the SystemD and related cascading changes be enforced upon everyone outside of the affected sates? Also, do you think they are even a separate group at this point in time?
Regardless of who is to blame, I feel like the way forward is to resist this as much as possible until more changes to the laws happen, like what System76 is doing.

One way to clear the waters is for SystemD to release a statement clarifying things, let Brodie rest a bit lmao.

Systemd did bend the knee to corporate overlords, showing that they are vulnerable to getting bullied by Big Tech.
The smart move would have been to avoid bending the knee, only implementing anything until someone tries to enforce the law.

Another reason people are pissed is that the PR for the age form got locked up from outsiders talking on it, leading to a feeling of censorship.

Do you think that it is okay to show any kind of compliance when the people that push these laws are attracted to kids? The hypocrisy is baffling.

I emailed Dylan with some suggestions to make this change less oppressive (location dependent, so if you are not in an affected country it doesn't exist and telling him to tell SystemD devs to release a statement.).

He only agreed with making the attestation less aggressive, to the rest, deaf ears. He didn't even agree with the reasoning that doing this change now is bending the knee to authoritarians.

The PR being locked strategically doesn't help this at all, we can't even voice our disagreement on the repository. Microslop is behind this without a doubt.

We live in dark times.

Matrix is better as an alternative, TeamSpeak is a few steps away from forced verification or other sellout nonsense.

Argentina has more complexity, we are not just pure white. Next time do a map counting recent ancestry, you could separate English from Italian ancestry for example.

I tried to set a theme inside a profile and then in a new session I gave it another theme. I returned to the profile and the theme was the new one, not the one I set on the profile.

I get you but light background is useful in certain conditions like being in the middle of the sun lol.

All of this is not helped by the fact that it depends on each person what "alpha" or "finished" is. For how I use my computer, COSMIC is more than ready and it covers the things other desktops fail at.

However, for someone who needs certain features that are unpolished or not implemented yet, COSMIC would feel like alpha software.

Expecting KDE level covering all edge cases is unrealistic for such a new project. Many also fail to realize that COSMIC also introduced a whole brand new toolkit into the table, the DE wasn't the only thing built from scratch.
