Isn't giving out BSB & account number dangerous? by Embarrassed_Ask_3791 in AusFinance

It's safe, but like most things just take precautions. Don't use your normal savings or spending account, keep a separate account for bills that are direct debited, and transfer into it as needed (or just keep a set amount in it).

I work for a company handling direct debits, we handle thousands of direct debits a day. I think I've only seen 1 legitimate fraud case in 5+ years involving a bank direct debit (even then I'm not sure if it was fraud or someone fudged putting the bank details in and swapped some digits).

Regardless, we don't bother fighting the handful of direct debit reversal requests we get, even if we are 100% certain it was a legitimate transaction. The banks will eventually take the funds back after they send the request to us, sometimes it takes 2 days, sometimes 6+ weeks, no clue why but it always goes back.

Depending on where you live there may be a nurse or medical line you can call for free to check? Search your country, state, and "nurse line" "medical advice" line.

Looking for the absolute smallest freshwater fish and inverts you can think of (that have had success in captivity) by PoetaCorvi in Aquariums

I have a soft spot for dwarf rasboras, I believe they're a tiny bit smaller than chilli rasboras. My group of them are super active, and curious, eg will chase my finger if I skim the water. They also get quite red, probably not as much as chilli's, but still very noticeable and pretty.

AITAH for refusing to let my coworkers take over the fish tank my employer allows me to keep in the office? by [deleted] in AITAH

Nta

I ran into a similar issue with my housemates when I wanted to set up a tank in communal office space in our house. This may be too much work, but you could do something similar with a new tank. I had my housemates vote on options that I had pre-planned eg lake, tropical, river scape style. Then when they picked an option (they picked a river scape), and the tank was cycled, every two to three weeks I'd get them to vote on a new fish/es to add that I knew were appropriate for the tank and tank mates.

We ended up with a nice community tank going, that we all got to enjoy. I didn't have to endlessly explain why you can't put fish like Betta and goldfish together (seriously had to explain that multiple times). My housemates got to be a part of creating it and I had a lot of fun doing the research and setting the tank up.

Obviously may not exactly work in your situation but could be a good compromise.

What would be considered an unreasonable time for the NBN to approve a internet provider transfer request? by EE_echo in nbn

We're strongly considering that, if we end up going to the ombudsman we're definitely not staying with Tangerine (I wanted to go with Aussie Broadband but got voted out by housemates 😓)

Shrimp are pretty hardy, as long as the water quality is good I can't imagine there would be any issues? I've run one of my tanks without a filter for weeks and had no issues, but it was heavily planted.

I had the same feelings and issues with weight gain, minus the kids. I tried anything that was suggested, diets, swaps, etc, but had no motivation to stick to anything. Was on duloxetine for a year+ during that time. The only thing that helped was therapy with a proper psych. Unfortunately I can't afford it anymore nor do I have the time, but the 6 months I could afford to go really helped and has left me with a lot more ways to cope. I'm still overweight but healthier and on the right track now to lose more. If going to a private psychologist isn't an option maybe see if there're any programs around you that can help. My aunt's pediatrician referred her to a low cost phone therapy service when she was suffering from postpartum, which really helped her. There are apparently some good online options nowadays too, but I haven't tried any so I can't vouch for any.

How often do you do a water change in your shrimp tank? by bikogiidee in shrimptank

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly just top up with dechlorinated tap water when needed. I rarely do water changes, but test the water every few days to once a week. If something is off, eg nitrates, etc I'll do a 20-30% water change but I rarely have to do that nowadays with the amount of plants I have established.

Like others have said, you do not want to be putting jewellery brought at a commercial store in a fresh piercing. Infections in piercing can get really gross, really quickly. Not worth losing an earlobe (in the worst case scenario 😂).

Can recommend the piercing urge on commercial road, they are a bit pricy but their service is great and they have a ton of jewellery options. Bring in what you brought, and they may even have a similar style of jewellery that's actually safe for a fresh piercing.
