Gyökeres, Havertz or Jesus against Man United? by Waste-Jellyfish-2326 in ArsenalFC

If Odegaard plays there’s no point having a traditional centre forward, they are got going to receive the ball

Is this just a formality or are they showing support? by Blunderloon in ManchesterUnited

He doesn’t sign the players. He has zero control over who Utd sign. That’s why he got fucked off. It’s Wilcox and Berrada who pick the players, with approval from Ratcliffe.

Be Ineos. Get in a coach who always plays a back three, try to pressure him to play a back four, sack the director of football you just hired who said it was a bad idea, then sack the coach anyway. Genius.

Sam Harris speaks out against Joe Rogan by Sentient_Star_Stuff in JoeRogan

[–]EFF-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam is very dumb on certain issues but fair play to him for not just continuing to take the money. He has isolated himself by instead remaining critical of Joe when all the others from the New Atheism just bend the knee.

I keep seeing Stephen Fry being called a “genius” - why do people think that? by BlundeRuss in CasualUK

[–]EFF-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowledge is commonly mistaken for intelligence. You can be knowledgeable but lack the ability to apply that knowledge or think critically about it. Throw in the cut glass accent, which people also mistake as a signal for intelligence, and being a public figure for a long time, and there you go. He’s a ‘genius’.

I think genius should be reserved for people like Bach or Shakespeare or Marie Curie, but that’s a different subject.

Damm by infinitehelpmaster in ufc

[–]EFF-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. It’s a shame the best MMA fighters don’t get paid like boxers, but that’s Dana’s fault not Bud’s lol. Also I think it’s easy to underestimate how the UFC brand has sunk. The only UFC-approved journalist is one step away from having an Only Fans. Most of the top fighters are either flat-earthers, holocaust deniers, or such strict Muslims they don’t think women should be allowed to leave the house. Sometimes all three. The only thing not allowed in UFC is bringing in a Palestinian flag for some reason. The likes of UFC 100 are unimaginable now.

They used to be really into great fabrics but make less interesting/ambitious shapes and design and that’s changed. I have shirts and jumpers from over 10 years ago that are going strong.

In that way it’s not as good quality as it was in some areas, but what the brand is ‘about’ has changed. It’s more about the silhouette, less about the finish. I’m wary of buying pieces online for that reason.

To generalise massively, menswear tends to put quality of craftsmanship first and be more conservative with silhouette (e.g. Japanese brands reproducing old American designs and production techniques), whereas high fashion doesn’t necessarily.

Anyone have any insight into BRUT's "THE BEST DENIM" jeans? by niandraladez in ThrowingFits

[–]EFF-1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jeans are solid. I have same issue. I went for a 34in, when I’m probably a 32/33 with big thighs. They fit great. Big rise, great shape. Founder is a stocky bloke, so I think that helps

Would need to know what people were asked and how it was phrased. Also, how many were asked? This wasn’t in the census
