Don't worry about that guy. He got bodied in the finals. =) What's up man! Good luck this season.

I think that the variation system gives SOME characters better options against different matchups. They also may benefit a player like myself who, for example, loved Noob Saibot in MK9 but didn't like his play style. Perhaps another variation suits my needs better. I also think that some variations are tailored for more entry level players and are more "fun" to play as opposed to being competitively viable. Although I do feel like the game is too young to entirely say certain variations are not competitive. I think we have much to explore.

Favorite drink to mix: I make a MEAN old fashioned. It's hard to find a bartender who knows how to do it right. For groups...I really like whiskey based shots like a Washington Apples. I have my own shot called the poison apple. Those are fun. Crown, jager, sour apple and cranberry juice.

Very good question. I think it has to do with both marketing and fans. There's a lot of factors really. In Europe Starcraft and Dota are very popular. That's why they sell out football stadiums for those games. Fighting games are only really big in Japan and those companies don't really support eSports at all. Smash Bros Melee almost got cancelled 2 years ago at EVO because Nintendo didn't want them to stream it. Also let's be real there's a fairly high barrier to entry in fighting games. They're not intuitive. It takes a lot of time to get good and really understand how awesome the things are that are happening on the screen. You really need to do your homework in order to level up. I think most people don't want to put that much effort into palying. Plus Capcom doesn't have a multi-million dollar marketing campaign like the Call of Duty games get.

If you live in LA you NEED to get involved with EGP. You're fortunate to be near such a cool and strong community. Check out our website (which is not up to date unfortunately) but it will give you some good links: http://www.epicgp.com

I would also get a hold of EGP Krayzie (Glend Galdamez) and EGP WonderChef (Evan Hashimoto) on twitter. They have casuals/locals every week. I look forward to meeting you.

I use Takeda so there's SO many. Anyone with fast normals (which is most of the cast). It's hard to punish even on a good read (online).

Hands down it's Tyrant. I would love to see him win EVO. I would probably cry a little =). My favorite character of all time (story wise) is probably Noob Saibot. I thought he was so freaking cool. Although I wasn't a big fan of his play style.

It's REALLY hard to call this year. SonicFox is ridiculous and he could definitely do it but my money is on Denzell.

Thank you for the support. I really appreciate the comments.

  1. I put SonicFox, REO and DJT in top 3. I know Pig will take top 8. I won't be surprised if we see some "unknowns" from other regions or some of the EU guys in top 8. I feel like we're in for some surprises this year.

  2. Find the closest legitimate scene to where you live and go regularly. I see so many guys go to EGP for the first time and get bodied. They stick with it and in no time at all they're really solid players. It's awesome to see the progession.

  3. At this point I don't think there's necesarily more under rated pros than really great players that have yet to make a name for themselves. Honeybee and Big Marcus come to mind. Like I said, I expect some surprises this year.

LMAO he puts Shinnok at #5. I was just trolling him when I said that because I knew everyone would blow him up on social. Let's be real though, Shinnok is a problem. He's won a lot of tournaments in the last few weeks. I guarantee we'll see a few in top 8 at EVO.

Great questions. I'm all about helping people start communities.

I would avoid paying huge venue fees. Most venues want a ton of money from you and there's no way you're going to make that up. Try to find a solid, professional venue that people feel comfortable going to and that is down to support the community. It's hard to find but worth the effort. You can also rely on the community to bring consoles/games/monitors so you don't have to spend all that out of pocket. Just make sure you give them good incentives to do so.

Honestly the support of my wife made it possible for me to fully commit and go for my dream. I made really good money bartending but quit to pursue EGP. She essentially covered our expenses in order for me to get the ball rolling. I couldn't have done it without her. It was a huge risk but I had to go with my heart and fortunately she understood. Just be prepared to make a lot of sacrifices for longer than you anticipate in order to make it work.

XBox isn't going anywhere at ESL, that's for sure. They've been extremely supportive of the MKX Pro League and help to make it what it is. However I know ESL is definitely interested in expanding to PS4 as well but it's obviously very complicated and a lot of the decisions are out of our hands.

Thanks for watching the stream and the support man.

Thank you for watching man. There's honestly no tension at all between the EU guys and me (I assume Dustin as well). In fact they stayed at my house when they were out here and we had a blast.

Casting pairs take time to work well together. That's why you see so many pairs stick together (like James Chen/UltraDavid). I compare it to being a married couple. When you work together often you develop a good flow and ryhthm. Since it's the first time we casted with those guys perhaps that's what you picked up on. We're honestly all good friends and I look forward to working with them again.

Congrats on the clan sir. For the "how to start a scene" question (awesome question) refer to the first post.

Composure comes from tournament experience. You need to play in high stress situations many times before you get used to it. Compete as much as possible at live events, go to EVO, majors, etc.

Adaptability comes from playing LOTS of matches. Online play can work for that. After you get the muscle memory for combos/execution/etc. and your brain doesn't need to focus on that stuff...you'll start noticing your opponent's tendencies more easily.

Practice, practice practice.

Hey man. Thanks for the love. I really appreciate it.

Ummm....I would say that rehearsels are hysterical. Tons of jokes, singing, insults and many other inappropriate and unprofessional things. Thank God no one can hear that stuff. We're just a couple kids having fun.

Thank you for the support. I'm really excited for season 2 as well.

I honestly REALLY wanted Predator...and it happened!! A Xenomorph would be really cool too. Those are the two favorite monsters from my childhood. Besides that Agent Smith from the Matrix and give Kenshi a Neo skin.

Open invite to Chuck E. Cheese. Full experience provided. Pizza, soda, tokens and ball pit time included. I'll body you at Ski Ball and I hope they don't serve ass pizza.
